After some initial confusion with their banner system (you have to include a tag on every page, something like which tells the banner where to go, if you don't there will be a gazillion pop up nasties), I have become really fond of this space.

Advantages: Great FTP, controllable banners, unlimited space Disadvantages: Server fills up occasionally, have to wait for more space
Having tried many many free webspace providers over the years, I want to make it pretty clear that Spaceports is ranked amongst my personal favourites.

...solid, quick and reliable.
2. They give you as much space as you want. At first they give you 20Mb, then you "apply" for more when you have filled that up. I have over 100 Mb on one account there now...
3. The banners (once you realise about the tag thing) are great, because you have control over where they go on your site. In other words you can just leave them at the bottom if you want, and your pages will still look good. more

Good points: 1. The FTP access is rock solid, quick and reliable. 4. There is a program to reclaim some of the click-through money from the banners on your pages, so can actually get paid for them too. ( I have not signed up with this, so can't comment on it) 5. Great help forum 6. full cgi-access, after you have applied for it. 7. MP3 files are no problem (legal ones anyway)
Bad points: 1. It caught me out at first with the banner code thing (but then again i just dived right in and didn't actually read the instructions, which *are* there of course...) 2. If you fill up space quickly, like i do, then you have to apply for more space, then wait a day or so. (minor niggle) 3. Very occasionally the servers get full, so you can't upload anything until they sort it out (usually next day) It's the price to pay for a service that is so good, thousands are signing up every week.
Advantages: 10GB Storage Space, Interactive Help, Site Transfer Stats Disadvantages: Adverts, and way too many.
Spaceports free web hosting, what a pile of trash. Last year they looked good because there were no popup adverts and they promised a free .com address once u had ur banner ad had bin clicked on 500 times. And it was a really good service, offering an unbelievable 10GB of space, nice statistics n stuff.
Then in June the cheeky guys suddenly blitzed my page with adverts. Im talking about 50% of the screen covered in adverts, as well as popups! So ... ...the webmaster people. They have to be the most arrogant, rude, obnoxious sarcastic people ever, apparantly meant to be "giving friendly help and advise", they told me "Why dont u move to another server then?".
So I did. F2s.com. No ads! But still a frustrating and time-consuming process of switching servers. ...
