...When I first came across SpywareInfo.com it was whilst searching for a site that could help me understand a problem I was having with my computer. When I started wandering around the site, I became increasingly alarmed at how ignorant I really was.
I had been having problems with "pop-ups" and with porn sites/emails - reading through SpywareInfo.com I realised why.
The home page asks "Has some sleazy web ... ...ads even when your browser has been closed for some time? Are you infected with a spyware program that refuses to go away? If so, our message board has dozens of dedicated volunteers ready to give you step-by-step assistance to remove the malicious software and regain control of your PC."
And they mean it! The site is "dedicated to giving you the tools and knowledge you need to protect your privacy from the onslaught of spyware, ... more

If so, our message board has dozens of dedicated volunteers ready to give you step-by-step assistance to remove the malicious software and regain control of your PC."
And they mean it! The site is "dedicated to giving you the tools and knowledge you need to protect your privacy from the onslaught of spyware, adware, and corporate and government surveillance."
For those of you who don't know, "spyware" is software or hardware installed on a computer without the user's knowledge which gathers information about that user for later retrieval by whomever controls the spyware. It takes one of two forms: surveillance spyware and advertising spyware.
The site explains each of these forms, and provides some excellent, FREE tools for diagnosing what has already been put on your pc without your knowledge/permission. I warn you - it is shocking.
If you need help with fixing a problem caused by spyware or a browser hijacker, you can post your questions in the support forums. All posts are answered and I have never yet not had my questions answered - and they have sorted out some serious situations for me in the past, including general computer queries.
I really cannot recommend this site highly enough. It is informative, well designed, and is quite carefully policed. The people who use the site are friendly and more than willing to help.
Be warned - if you are anything like me, you could be so impressed it becomes your new "soapbox"!
