This is the FujitsuSiemensAMILO Xi 2528. It is a laptop designed for entertainment purposes whilst still being very cheap in price.
FujitsuSiemens are well known for their cheap laptops, and are also quite well known for making basic laptops and therefore don?t really have the best reputation in the market.
However that is all changing now, instead of sticking to the mold of cheap basic laptops, there branching out and are starting to make ultra portable laptops that compete with sonys, and dells whilst being a lot cheaper too. They are now also making entertainment laptops with great specifications and features that come in at just a fraction of the price of some of its competitors and the AMILO Xi 2528 is one of these.

it, it certainly lives up to it?s sales pitch.
Look
You can?t go wrong with sleek, black and stylish (unless you?re in a Monty Python movie), and the FujitsuSiemensAMILOL 3220t (why can?t things like this just be called Fred or something?) pulls this look off really well. It fits with almost any computer hardware set. It is of a reasonable size and is not too bulky (4 kg) but doesn?t have you squinting to see the screen (22 in).
Function
It provides a smooth, clear visual output and was very easy to set up, the integrated speakers provided a reasonable volume and clear sound, it does everything you would expect of a monitor well, but unfortunately all my efforts to teach it dog tricks have failed miserably.

So I turned off the Laptop to wait for the disks which, still have not arrived 1 week later. When I decided to turn the Laptop on again it came up with a message saying Disk Error, press any key to continue, I pressed any key and the same message was repeated several times but the Laptop would not start.
I again phoned Fujitsu/Siemens and was told that it was to be returned to Comet for refund or replacement, but that they had to have a copy of the reciept from the manager at comet to send the code needed for this to hAppen. So I had to phone Comet to get this done, this was completed the same day( Thur), but no number was sent to Comet until the following Mon, this was when I finally decided to ask for a refund.
I have not been able to asses how good this Laptop was, but can say honestly...

...As with every computer manifactuer they have so many options and choices, change one number or letter and you have a completely different setup. I guess its a good thing for the consumer offering such a range of choices if a little baffling, and i would not reccommend the advice of the highstreet store helpers half of whom wouldnt know a gigabyte from a megabyte.

I brought this as part of a package at Comet in the new year came with an average printer, one of those that is cheaper to buy a whole new printer than the ink cartridges ! It also came with a nice carry case. All for £699

In the box
In the box which you are given you have initially the laptop. The laptop is safely secured and fastened down by some tight plastic sheeting.
On the outside of the sheeting you have the power connector and you have underneath the laptop plenty of manuals. The manuals are guides on how to use the laptop and also information about registering your laptop online.
There is also a few discs included and one of them is a power management disc which is to be used when you need drivers reinstalling on the computer which might be lost and the other disc is for you to install some programs which might have gone missing as well.
All of these items are securely packaged and in a very solid box.
Design

One of the key reasons for my purchase of this laptop was...
Advantages: Very fast with the latest 64-bit technology and lots of features. Disadvantages: Graphics could be better for gaming, battery life could be improved.
...I bought this laptop about 7 months ago because I thought it was very good value for money and also I really wanted an AMD laptop and this one was the perfect choice, as it had a 64-bit Mobile Athlon. I purchased this laptop from Comet for £700, however I have checked their website and I do not think they still stock this model, but they do however have a slighlty better Amilo model (still with a 64-bit AMD processor) but for about £80 more.
This is a great overall laptop, which is very useful for any purpose from work to playing games.
Processor:
The processor latest 64-bit technology does really show making this laptop quite fast.
Memory (RAM):
The 512Mb RAM is enough to do almost any task you want, however it is useful to know that as this laptop has a 128Mb shared graphics card that means that the graphics card uses 128Mb...

Review of FujitsuAMILO A1630
Advantages: Core Duo, Big screen, Light Disadvantages: Gaming
...hardware for it too like a printer as there might not be a sutible vista supported driver out to support it. So i highly recomend sticking with Windows XP which is preinstalled on this laptop.
This laptop is equipt with 1gb ram which is more than enough and will stop pc slowing down and freezing up. Which can later be upgraded to 2gb but you will have to spend money out of your pocket.
Now the graphics card may not be one of the best but if you are not planning to play the latest games then this shouldnt be a problem. Drivers for this laptop can be downloaded via ATI(AMD) site or fijitsu siemens as standalone drivers may not be compatible with it.
Finally it has got 80gb hard drive space which os great for a laptop if u wish to have more you could purchase some more or buy an external hard drive.
