Toshiba Satellite U400-138 (User Review)
Advantages: Ultra-Portable, light weight, 13.3", Intel Core2duo, Centrino2 (Latest Technology) laptop
Disadvantages: NOTHING AT ALL
...definitely the best 'All Rounder' notebook of 2008. It has everything today's laptop needs, Bluetooth, in-built Camera, Firewire port, HDMI port (icing on the cake), Vista Home-Premium, 5x1 Card Reader, DVD RW, Dolby-Digital Stereo, independent Media Player Buttons (don't need to switch-on windows) and the High Powered 'Intel P8400 Multi-Processor'.
Fastest Laptop:
My 10 days of heavy usage proved that the Toshiba Satellite U400-138 really runs super-superfast, takes heavy computing without a quirk, that's what we need today in our notebook. The Crystal-Brite TFT LCD displays 1280x800 rez. (plainly speaking, very-very good quality images) and though the 128 Mb Graphics are a low config. Yet it did my Video Editing (HD, mind you!) without a hitch. The NVidia Geforce Graphics would have been better, but you don't always get everything, do you...

toshiba satellite L350-12N
Advantages: Built in webcam and microophone. 17 in screen, reasonable size.
Disadvantages: not really any.
...and about and bored of doing your work.
The laptop has an integrated microphone and webcam, making it ideal for making video calls from as well allowing for a pretty cool face-regognition software for log-on, removing the need for a password, this saves me an incredibly vital 2 seconds. :p. Although I suppose if you add it up...
All in all this is a better than average and fairly cheap laptop which is well worth buying....

Toshiba Satellite Pro A60
Advantages: Sturdy design Nice Blue colour Get a lot for your money
Disadvantages: Overheating/crashing problems experienced Memory upgrade was necessary Required a lot of tweaking to get 'right'
...The Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 laptop is ideal for entry level home users, and possibly students who have some time on their hands to sort stuff out. I wouldn't say it was suitable for the lower end of the business market, as Toshiba seem to be targeting with this product. I could be wrong however, maybe I was just unlucky!
I have had mine for 8 months now, after previous satellite old faithful, which I had owned for about 7 years, gave up the ghost in the middle of a project, and I needed a cheap laptop quickly. I was impressed by the blue design which veers away from the boring black/grey you're used to seeing on the budget end notebooks.
For the budget it was a toss up between this or a Dell, and in the end I decided to go for the Tosh which wasn't the bottom end of the scale like the Dell was for the same money.
Due to...

Toshiba Satellite M30 - Good Lookin Machine
Advantages: Fast, lots of features, easy to use
Disadvantages: Problems with internal modem, infra red port has short range
...The Toshiba satellite m30 pro is a thin and sleek laptop matching the looks and requirements for todays busy and on the move users. It is literally a desktop computer packed into a small, light and easy to use 1.6GHZ, 60 Gb memory HDD and 512 MB RAM machine. Toshiba Satellite Pro 4280XDVD
Advantages: very powerful fulfil's all your basic needs and then some
Disadvantages: screen can be annoying after a while, battery life only three hours.
...Toshiba are a very strong company in regards to their history of building notebooks. They are well established as robust and durable notebooks when dealing with business uses. The Toshiba I personally own I bought from ebay. It was extremely good value and I looked hard for a well specified machine. Buying direct from the Toshiba website would have actually cost me an additional $200 or so, and more importantly for a lower end machine. The beauty behind the Toshiba that I find makes it such a simple machine to use it comprise of basically three main aspects. The notebook comes with rescue disks that if everything goes wrong and you end up formatting the machine all teh factory defaults can be restored within an instant from the provided CD's. My machine came with Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows 98 SE. Giving me amazing...

Toshiba A200 - 195
Advantages: Light, Fast, Looks nice, Reliable, Value.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have a built in webcam or Bluetooth connectivity.
...brand that I had heard nothing but praise for, whether it was their reliability, good value, high build quality and good battery performance. So I carried on researching for about 3 weeks as it was a major purchase for me to go to university with, as my student budget hardly stretches over the necessities as it is. I found myself eliminating a lot of the manufacturers from my comparisons due to reliability issues and general feel of the laptops for example a HP laptop's touchpad just doesn't feel right to me, it feels cheap and sticky, it's a personal opinion but it's a laptop so the user is stuck using the peripherals installed on it e.g. touchpad and keyboard. I was aware that the best deals are to be had online, and thought I'd settle on a Toshiba, preferably one from the Satellite range, as they seem to be the good performance ones...
