Disadvantages: Nothing.
...of the students - as chances are, they will be making up more than 95% of the people who are out with you in that place!
But all joking aside, there is a real old mixture of places to go and visit if you want an evening out from the already mentioned pubs and bars; through late night opening restaurants, to bowling and the cinema.
So why choose Devon then?

A FANTASTIC DEVON COUNTRY PUB
Advantages: Fantastic position on the Teign estuary, fantastic decor inside and gorgeous food
Disadvantages: I've had just one bad meal there
...there. But I would definitely advise to book since it is sometimes very difficult to get a table. Bookings can be made on the Coombe Cellars website too: http://www.thecoombecellars.co.uk/

Pub Grub
Advantages: Good pub grub, good value
Disadvantages: Menu Limited
...Bosun's Pub & Grill is a traditional English style pub based in Knysna, on South Africa's Garden Route. It is based near our hotel, but this was not particularly centrally located so a lot of locals would visit here I suspect, or people with holiday homes in the area (it is close to the beach).
The pub is styled older than it actually is, and there is a verandah with tables and chairs...
