Credo - I believe in cinema

Advantages: Beautiful, artistic, accessible
Disadvantages: Some may be put off by the subtitling

Invariably those that I like tend to the arty side of cinema. Occasionally there'll be a foreign language breakthrough like Amelié which brings this genre to the attention of a wider audience whereas films such as Tous les Matins du Monde will remain forever in the background. Cinema Paradiso is, however, a film that is both accessible and beautiful and cannot fail to be appreciated by anyone with a love of cinema. That it is subtitled is far from distracting, the photography taking care of the story for the most part and one is quickly subsumed into a world that is all encompassing. Better than the cinemas! Fresher too!

Advantages: Real cinema sweet taste.

Maidenhead Odeon Cinema - stay away!!

Advantages: there wasn't any!
Disadvantages: no food or drink, dirty, screens didn't work, didn't show any of the top movies

...as: Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and a few others. Although we wouldn't mind seeing them films, but as none of these received reviews good as some of the others, we didn't want to fork out £7 a seat to see them. To make matters worse, the floors were dirty, there were no toilets in sight and well, it's just a really bad cinema! We never saw a movie that day, but we are going to see the new Mummy film later on this week, at a real cinema which sells popcorn! Europes tallest cinema

Advantages: price, location, choice
Disadvantages: lack of parking

...are located on 3 floors (2nd, 3rd and 4th). Signposting to the screens at each floor is very good (providing the windows-based software is working!). Once you've reached the correct floor then you proceed through the drinks/refreshments area (making you feel like you HAVE to buy something). Surprisingly prices are very competitive, for both a cinema and the city centre. You are permitted to bring your own drinks/refreshments. There is also a bar on the 1st floor, one of the few licensed cinemas in Scotland! Each screen is very easy to find, although the toilets are located at the end of corridor, making it a long trip for some. The toilets are excellent. The doorway to each screen has yet another PC-based display, a very nice touch, although you can see the odd one with the windows failure! I've been to this cinema numerous...

UGC: Unbelievably Great Cinema

Advantages: 19 screens means loads of films to choose from!
Disadvantages: Sweets are rather expensive.

.... I'd say the sweets here are more expensive than in other cinemas as a bag of Revels/Malteasers/M+Ms etc costs £2.05 compared to the £1.70 it costs in one of my other regular cinemas. On the top floor you can buy sweets from vending machines, although these sometimes don't work. There is also a viewing gallery from the top floor with tables and comfy chairs where you can look at the window at the world going by you down below. There are toilets available on each floor and I've always found these to be kept clean and well stocked with loo roll (always an important fact to consider)! The cinemas themselves are large and spacious with comfortable seats. There is plenty of room for you and your juice and sweets and the cinemas are generally kept very clean and litter-free. The sound quality is superb, as is the screen quality. UGC...

Odeon cinema - The Quay

Advantages: modern, clean
Disadvantages: access by road only

...Although located about 2 miles from the city centre, The Quay is in a retail park based around the Odeon cinema, making ideal for city centre visitors without having to pay parking charges. Ideally located for access from the M8 (eastbound Kinning Park exit), and from the M77. 12 screens, from 89 to 279. Normally showing between 14 and 18 films, at various times. Adult tickets are £5, students/children are £3.50. No further discounts are currently offered (as at 01/06/02). After entering the foyer, a rather vast servery is available in the centre of the floor. You are permitted to bring your own food/drinks onto premises. No alcohol is permitted, and there are no bars/licence. I have made several visits to this cinema and been in most of the screens, from the small cosy 89 seater to the massive 279 seater. Ipod shuffle 1GB

Advantages: Easy to use with simple menus
Disadvantages: Perhaps not eneough storage for some

...I was brought one of these ipod shuffle, 1 gb for Christmas. Ｉhave previously owned an ipod nano and have to say that I much prefer the shuffle, I have found it much more easy to use and more easy to attach to my clothing whilst using it in the gym. The battery life lasts ages, at least 7 hours and can be charged up by a wide variety of methods so its very easy to do so whatever the circumstances. It holds approximately 240 songs which is adequate for my needs, and itunes makes it very easy to chop and change the tracks I want on there quickly by connecting to the computer by a usb cable.
