The Big Hard Disk With The Big Heart
Review of LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ Triple 1 TB by
scotlandizdabest
Advantages: Fast, Reliable, Huge Data Capacity
Disadvantages: Expensive
...What Is It
The LaCie Big Disk Extreme + 1 TB is a Hard Disk suitable for Macs and Windows. It is for backing up any type of data from your computer like Photos, Movies, Music, Documents anything.
Why Buy It
I decided to buy this after reading another review from a magazine called iCreate which specialises in products suitable for Apple Macs. I bought before a hard disk by another brand but found it was only avalible for Windows so had to send it back. This is suitable for Windows XP/Vista/2000 And Mac OSX 10.8 or later which is very handy.
What Does 1 TB Extreme Mean?
I TB means 1 terabyte. This basically is ALOT of memory. 1 TB is 1024 GB which is the equivelent of-
*270,000 songs (roughly)
*472 Hours of film (Non stop!)
*3.2 Million pictures (again roughly)
*1,000 copies of Encyclopedia Britannica

Freecom 1TB External Hard Drive
Review of Freecom Hard Drive Hard drive 1 TB by
marshmike
Advantages: Simple Setup, great value for money
Disadvantages: Win 2000/XP/Vista only - not for Win 98/ME
...I have previously purchased a Freecom 500 GB external drive drive and have been very happy with it's performance and reliability. So when the drive started to become 80% full it was time to look for some additional storage. I saw the new Freecom 1TB drive on Amazon and given my previous good experiences purchased one straight away. It arrived this morning (Tuesday) having ordered in the previous Friday, and all of this post free.
For anyone that hasn't bought a Freecom external hard drive before, you get a very stylish drive unit, power adapter, leads and installation disk. Installing (in my case) took less than 5 minutes, most of the time was spent unpacking the pieces.
Simply attached the usb lead, power pack and switched on. Instantly recognised by the Windows XP operating system as the next drive letter.
The unit is virtually...

Not bad for 1TB.
Review of Iomega Desktop Hard Drive Value Series Hard drive 1 TB by
thewhitewolf
Advantages: 1 Terrabyte
Disadvantages: not portable - but who cares
...This is a bargain that i couldn't pass up without buying. 1TB should keep me going for several years and more.
I bought this hard drive for £101 and it has been a pleasure to use. It's a doddle to set up and install and the fast rate of transfer makes file sharing very efficient and easy.
Design
The portable hard drive comes in an attractive silver case that has USB2 and FireWire 400 ports. It is a desktop drive and cant really be moved around due to its size.
Installation
The instructions were easy to follow and it installed by windows wizard as soon as i plugged it in, so within 20 minutes i was backing up my files.
Performance
Performance is good for a portable hard disk, and there was no real difference in speed between the two interfaces. T
Features
It doesn't ship with backup software, just file...

1GB of space...That's 994 floppy disks!
Review of PQI 1GB USB 2.0 Cool Drive Traveling Disk by
Deru
Advantages: Fast USB 2.0 connection, accessories, Compact, Looks COOL
Disadvantages: Requires a driver for Win98, Need updated USB 2.0 driver to use advanced features or your computer crashes, not all computers have USB, gets hot.
...stuff on, to access your files. I've found that you are unable to enter the drive if write-protect is on though. Surely, you should be able to read the data even with write-protect on.
ADVANTAGES
If you're wondering why you should bother with these when you can just burn stuff to CD, pop them onto a floppy disk, then I'll tell you why. Floppy disks are slow as hell, aren't very reliable, and you can't fit all that much onto one. You can only erase stuff off CDR's if they're CDRW's but even then, you have to erase everything and can't select files. Now if you had one of these PQI Flash Disks, you can use them like a portable Hard Drive. Also, 1GigaBytes of space means that you can chuck a lot of junk onto it without worrying about it filling up as quickly as, let's say, a 128MB stick. With 1GB, you can even put a whole CD worth...
