Sigma EX 10-20mm f4-f5.6 DC HSM

Disadvantages: Distortion with architecture and interior shots.

...a problem. The lens does extend a little towards the long end, although the front element doesn't revolve either when zooming, or focusing, making the use of polariser filters simple. Closest focusing distance is an impressive 0.24m - great for the pebbles into boulders transformations which I'm sure this lens will be put to. Performance overall is quite impressive, although there 'are' one or two concerns. Distortion being the first. While the lens appears to produce relatively little barrel distortion over most of the field of view at 10mm focal length, quite strong barrel distortion is actually evident right at the 'very' edges of the frame where it can become quite a problem. ...Having owned and used my Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-f/4.5 USM zoom lens for around 15 to 18 months I feel that it is in many ways, quite an exceptional lens. Effectively covering the versatile full-frame equivalent 16-35mm zoom lens, it is a valuable addition to anyone's kit. Being an EF-S lens (the 'S' standing for 'Short' back-focus), it is designed for use ONLY with cameras having APS-C size sensors. Don't attempt to fit one to a full-frame DSLR or 35mm SLR camera. Such lenses have reduced image circles and produce vignetting on full-frame or 35mm cameras. Furthermore, the rear lens element could get hit by the reflex mirror, causing serious damage. With a maximum aperture of f/3.5 at the widest end and f/4.5 at the more moderate end of the zoom range, the lens is not 'fast' by any stretch of the imagination. However...

My background with computers is vast having built many and installed multiple operating systems on each, however i have never owned a laptop. Samsung NC10 Netbook

Advantages: Lots of connectivity - Big keyboard - excellent screen - Good spec

...I managed to pick up this netbook for £299 which is oustanding value - from play.com. The netbook is very light and can fit almost anywhere - it is very easy to carry around - you can set up anywhere and very easily connect to the internet where available. The netbook looks very stylish and everything is laid out well. The keyboard is the biggest i have ever seen on a netbook - its almost full size which is a bonus as I have a lot of typing to do. One disadvantage of this is that the mousepad has been made very small which is a nuisance - you do get used to it but it is not ideal. The specs for this netbook are impressive I mean a massive 160GB hard drive, a 10.2 inch screen. 1 GB of RAM and a 1.6GHZ intel atom processor. I purchased my NC10 on a promotion weekend from a high street store beating online prices significantly. I was trying to avoid big bulky items to carry as I was on crutches at the time. Not recommended but straight out of box into my rucksack in the shop from which it was purchased. Didn't notice much weight difference in my bag at all. The Samsung NC10 has served me dilligently now being used more and more instead of my normal laptop as battery life is excellent. I use the NC10 round the house for coursework, work and even during my work lunch. Previously when I wanted to play with just my friends I had to create a room then start as quick as possible without anyone else joining (there may have been an easier way), but now you can invite your friends to a private game.
