Budget priced projector fits the bill

Advantages: Excellent value for money
Disadvantages: No fancy features

...I was tasked with finding a digital projector for work and it was left to me to source something reasonably priced that we could use for the occasional presentation. It didn't need to be flashy just something which would do the job and have a reasonable output. I looked around various sites and ended up looking around the Misco site as I have used them in the past and been happy with their service and they do stock a fairly wide range. I found the NEC NP100A on there which is an SVGA Projector with 2000 ANSI lumens at a price of £249.99 (£287.49 inc VAT). It looked like it would fit the bill so I placed my order. Out of the Box I settled for next day delivery from Misco and the follwoing day it arrived as promised. It was well packed being securely located in the box by two large pieces of foam and came complete...

Mini LED Projector with USB connectivity!

Advantages: LED bulb, quick on quick off, USB connectivity
Disadvantages: Wish it was offered in multiple colors

...I?ve owned the Optoma HD20 for a while now, and I must say it?s a great projector, but I?ve always wanted something portable, something that was small yet powerful, and that?s when I found the BenQ GP1. Of course, you can?t compare the performance between the GP1 and the HD20, but I got to say, for the price you pay for the GP1 and the size and weight of it, it really is an amazing mini projector. Although only with 100 lumens, it is 100 lumens of LED (RGB not white) lamination, and I must say if you compare it with standard LCD or DLP 100 lumens, the LED?s 100 lumens are quite a few multiples higher. And the device is absolutely TINY! It weighs only 1.4 lbs (0.6 kg)! Another great thing is that the GP1, being LED, is able to have instant on/off capabilities, which saves a lot of time. And you can forget about changing bulbs, as LED...

Can you buy a full HD projector on the cheap?

Advantages: Cheap and bright full HD machine
Disadvantages: Poor colour reproduction

...This is probably the first of the high end home cinema projectors that I have felt is capable and bright enough to use in a commercial setting. It combines an impressive specification with a price that is low enough to bring full HD projection into their home cinema or meeting room. With comparable machines often costing two or three times as much as this machine, where are the downsides to buying a full HD projector on the cheap? Specification/Connectivity This machine is a 3600 lumen projector with a texas instruments full HD DLP chip and a 5 segment colour wheel. There is connectivity for HDMI, DVI-D, 2x VGA, VGA out, component video, s-video and composite video. There are audio inputs for all the inputs allowing you to use the projector as the switching centre for your home cinema if required. It has RS232 and ethernet...

Sony's Excellent Projector

Advantages: High Brightness, 3LCD Projection System, AIAS (Advanced Intelligent Auto Setup), Short Focal Length
Disadvantages: Abit Noisy

...The Sony VPL CX21 is a bright, slim, and stylish projector designed for mobile applications. A friend of mine has this and we always watch movies on it. The projector has many features which I've written about below with brief explanation of each feature: - High Brightness of 2100 ANSI Lumens The projector has three Sony 0.63-inch LCD panels and a latest designed 165 W lamp, it has a brightness of 2100 ANSI lumens, which provides amazing image quality even in very high ambient-light. The projector has a resolution of XGA (1024 x 768), this simply means fine display of even the smallest details. - 3LCD Projection System This is what the Sony projector is all about, it has a 3LCD projection system which means the projected images are bright and natural and for this to be achieved it has 3 LCD panels. It provides high light...

Not the brightest but a reliable projector

Advantages: reliability, price, image quality
Disadvantages: none come to mind

...small. Some say cute and love it, I would prefer something that sits more in my hand and can be operated without squinting in the half light of a presentation for the right button. Also, being so small it doesn’t have a ball to control the mouse. Now, this is still quite rare but the best projector I use does have one of these meaning you can open and close files for presentations from the front of the room without looking down at the laptop. This is really useful and I think an oversight of any projector to omit. QUALITY The image quality is fine. We do push this to its limit by projecting onto such a large screen across a hall but with the help of blinds the projector copes admirably with this. The actual quality of the image seems quite sharp compared to some projectors I have used but the brightness of the bulb at 1000ansi...

Sony Portable Projector

Advantages: Easy to carry, light and compact
Disadvantages: Expensive to maintain

...I have used this Sony Projector for over 3 years. It is very light, compact and easy to use. It comes in a canvas carry case with shoulder strap. The projector itself folds up in to a compact carry case. The front cover folds over with a handle and locks so it can be carried like a mini briefcase. The control functions are on top of the projector. There is a row of buttons on the front, Power,Input,APA, and volume control. On the right are buttons for reset, menu, arrow keys and enter. There are 4 light signals, lamp, fan, power saving, standby. The port at the back has audio, mouse, video, svideo and scart to laptop connection. THe SONY LCD Projector made in Japan is very reliable. THis one is probably 5 years old. Replacement lamps for it are now very expensive. When you switch it on it is ready to use in about 3 minutes. The picture...

Lupine Wilma 4 (430 lumens version)

Advantages: Bright, Lightweight, Good battery, Easy to fit and remove
Disadvantages: Cost

...I own the 2007 (430 lumen) version of this light, and have done for the last 12 months. I use it for offroad mountain biking (both leisure and 12 / 24 hour solo races) and commuting. At the time, I paid £330 for it. You can possibly get it cheaper, now that the 2008 (830 lumens model) has superceeded it. WHAT IT CONSISTS OF Battery and tough fabric carry bag. single headlight. seperate switch. Charger. Helmet mount. Battery extension cable. ....everything needed to run it basically. WHAT IT IS AND DOES 4 LED single headlight that has an adjustable light output (user choice). It has a run time from approx 3 1/2 hours to approx 30 hours (depending on what light setting you have). It has a single beam pattern which either off road or on road has not caused me any problems - it lights up everything it needs to...

Optoma EP706 Projector - I love dixons!

Advantages: The price, The picture quality and so forth
Disadvantages: Didnt work as well on old toshiba TV's

...- The wall opposite the fire place). The projector produces almost NO sound when it is switched on, apart from the low hum of the internal fan and when the volume was turned up, This sound was driven out. Overview of the projector: DLP Display Technology For Great Viewing Native SVGA Resolution (800x600) 2000:1 Contrast Ratio Bright Display With 1800 ANSI Lumens # Large Digital Keystone Correction Range # 3000 Hours Of Lamp Life (I have yet to test this, but according to the information on the box, This is the case) # Ultra Quiet 27db Operation (Like I said before, Barely a whisper) # 1.9kg Weight (Because of this, I do NOT recommend fitting one of these to your ceiling. It works better when placed on a side table) # Password Security (Restricts children from viewing certain content. Very useful) # Great Connectivity...

Interactivity or projector activity

Advantages: Easy to use, robust
Disadvantages: Not as accurate as pen based and heavy

...an environment but do see my paragraph PROJECTOR OR INTERACTIVE BOARD for my opinion on how these should be used. MESH OR PEN This board works with a wire mesh behind the screen that detects contact. It therefore doesn't need a clever pen (good news in a primary school where the strangest of things go walkies). This means that for a start it is easier to use as your finger can do the pointing. Make contact with the board, firm that is, maintain contact, and drag objects around the screen - that is the essence of interactivity with this board. All people who have used this board have found it very simple and have enjoyed doing so. It is tremendously popular with the children and the mesh system is part of its success. Basically your hand becomes the mouse which is simple enough for the youngest children in school to understand and use. SOFTWARE...

Excellent short-throw projector

Advantages: Big image when placed one meter from the wall
Disadvantages: didn't notice any so far

...When I decided to buy a short-throw projector I compared for a while as I always do when I buy electronic products. Finally I decided to buy this BenQ MP771. I've been working with it for several days now and I have to say that it met all my expectations. So far I am very satisfied. I like its short-throw technology because I place the projector only one meter away from the wall and I still get a huge picture displayed, about 70". That's perfect as my meeting room is not that big. You have to imagine that a standard projector which a friend borrowed me only managed a picture size of about 25". The short-throw technology was really the crucial point for me to buy this projector. In terms of the picture quality I can't complain either. The BenQ MP771 offers bright and clear pictures. The reason are high 3000 ANSI lumen which creates...
