...In short: Excellent router, easy to set up and good support from Netgear. I bought this modem router from Ebay to set up a wireless home network. Depsite paying AOL money each month and seeing new customers getting this router for free we were told that we would still have to purchase it separately. As this was one of the AOL compatible routers I plumped for it due to Netgear's good name. The router was installed easyily and using AOL software from their site my main computer was up and running using an ethernet cable. We did have a couple of problems setting up our two laptops to work wirelessly but one short call to Netgear and that was all sorted out. ...This was my first wireless router and i have to say i found it all a bit confusing with all the different types of router out there ones with modems ones without, adsl, cable etc etc. This router is for people who get their internet access through their phoneline and not from telewest or ntl. It has a built in modem and comes with a usb wireless adaptor so it has everything you need. Setting the router up was so suprisingly simple after all of the confusion of trying to find the right type. You plug phone cable from your phone line into the back of the router and then the power cable and thats it. However as well as speed each standard claims to give you better wireless coverage. You should also remember that you would also need to use a similar standard of client wireless adaptor (i.e. the one on your desktop PC or laptop) if you want to reach the theoretical maximum speed. So if you used a router with 802.11g and a laptop with 802.11b you would get a maximum speed of 11 Mbps not 54 Mbps. Therefore in theory with this router and a client also running "Super G" you should get a maximum speed of 108 Mbps. And for me this is where the problem lies with this product. Flawed - don't expect 108MB speed....

Advantages: Looks Stylish, Easy to set up, comprehensive accesories supplied

...Very good router. I got this router with my sky broadband. It is re branded to say sky on the front where netgear would be. The excellent thing about this router, is it's ability to hold on to low noise margin connections. Where I live, we get a terrible noise margin on our lines. Usually this would lead to the cutting out of internet. But with this router, it managed to keep locked on without dropping until it got to about 5db noise margin. The web interface is easily accessible through a web browser, like all of the other netgear routers around, via 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. In my particular case, as this is a sky branded router, the login details were admin as the username and sky as the password. However when I moved into a brand new flat, I thought "time to upgrade" and my purchase was in the form of this Netgear WGR 614 Wireless Router. When I first took the router out of the box I was impressed to see the number of ADSL splitters I got with it, (three in total) but for now I only needed the one. Setup was what I would call 'normal' - Plug in the mains power and plug in the supplied RJ11 phone cable to the splitter. Easy to set up router

...I bought this router to replace my old wired one through Virgin media for £40. It arrived within 2 days of ordering over the internet. It came in a small box and was neatly and safetly packaged. This is one of the easiest pieces of equipment I have ever bought. All I had to do was put the CD into my laptop drive and it popped up with the instructions step by step.
