Awesome BenQ 1920x1080 Full HD Monitor!

...I bought the E2400HD 8 months ago and have loved it since the day I received it. I ordered it online and it came in three days later. It came in a standard brown BenQ box with the monitor, the stand, D-Sub, power cable, and an installation CD/manual. I bought it through a friend?s advice as he had bought the E2400HD when it first hit the shelves, and he has been telling me about how awesome it is ever since! It is hard not to agree with him, because the monitor just performs at a superb level and quality for the price range that it is competing in! The E2400HD would be what I?d like to call a multi-media/functional desktop/laptop peripheral display. Samsung Syncmaster 2333HD touch of brilliance !

...I purchased this box initially for the Euro 2008 Matches which were shown on ITV HD as well as BBC HD. Upon opening the box, the first thing I noticed was how small the foxsat is. To give an idea I'd say it's 3/4 the size of a standard Sky digibox. The unit itself is supplied with the remote control, batteries, scart cable, component cable, and a reasonable quality HDMI cable. He phoned the good people at Sky and managed to haggle the price down to around £100 off the advertised price and then had the cheek to also ask 'what happens to the old Sky+ box - can we have it installed in the bedroom thrown in'? HD: I am disapointed in the number of channels you are able to recive considering you can get the likes of ITV HD in free sat but not sky. The other point is you can only use 1080i not 1080p Falts: Every now and again the box will just power down and you cant turn it back on for about 3 minutes. I have two SKY HD boxes and they both do it but in fairness it dosen't happen that offten. Unused features: The sky HD box comes with an RJ45 network socket and an e SATA port. I don't even need to say how many possibilities this gives the SKY box but saidly its not useable. ...with it is the limted HD reception, admitedly it does look a lot better than normal digital. But it may just be the area i am in but i only have 1 dedicated HD channel. The rest have to be found by using the red button on the normal show. And even then the only HD tv seems to be football or tennis, admitedly for me it is not a bad thing. Im sure the variety can only get better though. Maybe doesn`t justify the expensive but is a solid all round freeview box....

Sky HD - the future?

...earth and the picture is jaw dropping, the detail is immense and the clarity is unbelievable. Movies look excellent and the box can output either 720p or 1080i via hdmi or component. Sky say there are 12 HD channels, but 2 are pay per view, 2 run only after 5 at night and one runs for 2 hours a day, so its pretty misleading in my opinion. Then we go onto the £10 a month charge for HD, I don't know why we should be charged this as the box is £300 to start with, but we're stuck with it for the minute. So my sky bill is £50 a month (10 for sky+ which your forced to have if you don't get premium channels, 10 for HD, 40 for package) you only get the movies and sport if you subscribe to them on your normal package. Sky+HD, a bit of a rip-off really

Disadvantages: Not the best quality, not enough HD channels to support extra £10 charge.

...already subscribe to that particular block of channels. Your £10 for HD channels only covers what you already subscribe to, you don't get them all. In a nut shell, if you don't subscribe to the documentary channels then you don't get the HD versions either, even if you pay a HD subscription. Out of 33 current HD channels I only get 16 because I don't subscribe to movies or sports. Not all programmes are HD and a couple of channels only broadcast for part of the day. The HD resolution is 720p, not 1080p so don't expect the best. Virgin media's V+ box has HD programming at no extra cost and it's even availble on demand if you have the right package. They only have a few programmes at the moment but they say more is to come. All the recording and menus are exactly the same as a standard Sky+ box with the exception of an extra entry for HD...
