...The Hitachi L37V01 HD LCD TV is a full High Definition television. That means it can display in 720p, 1080i and 1080p modes, unlike a lot of 'HD Ready' TVs on the market which only manage 720p. This means that you get a crisper image from devices which support these resolutions, such as the Xbox 360. I saw this TV on Amazon for under £500, and thought it looked like an excellent deal. I was slightly nervous about buying it, as there were very few reviews available online, but after taking the Tv from its securely packaged box and setting it up, I'm pleased to say there are no problems at all. The quality of the materials used on the TV itself look and feel high quality, but the remote seems a bit cheap, although it's sturdy enough for everyday use. ...available. Full HD Tv's run at 1080p. The little p stands for progressive scan which gives a better quality of picture. If your TV doesnt run at 1080p then this DVD player isn't for you. It will full upscale DVD's to 1080p. There are DVD players that will upscale to 1080i only also. I love this DVD player. I have a huge collection of DVD's and now I feel I can fully appreciate them. The quality is much better. I think the difference is more evident on newer movies but still everything looks sharper and brighter. I have seen the quality of HD DVD's and I do not think the difference between them and upscaled DVd's is big enough to warrent the gap in price. Now the price is what will sell it to most people. The second way is by downloading the firmware to a PC or Mac and burning an update CD that you load into the BD-P1400. The second main feature I wanted was a player that doesn't insist on only outputting HD signals on the HDMI port - why? Well, like many, I have an "old" cinema amp that does not have HDMI sockets and neither do my LCD TV or projector. Both can show excellent HD pictures as they are 1280x768 and 1366x768 displays. The projector even has a DVI port but because of the the new copy protection on HDMI, an expensive decoder has to be used to convert the HDMI signal to DVI. One of the key features of this Plasma TV, is that you can play HD images directly from an SD card reader built in. So if you have full HD on a card, you can easily reproduce this. FULL HD 1080p One thing in all TV's to be noted is the difference between FULL HD 1080p and HD ready and upscaling. True HD is 1080p, HD ready is 720p upscaled to 1080i. But you can never get the same quality. This TV, comes with full HD 1080p capabilities, suitable for watching Blue-ray or true HD 1080p broadcasts at the peak quality. The bottom line is simply that it works and works well: those who regularly spend several hours in a single stretch watching movies or playing videogames (particularly late at night) really ought to check this out. THE MISSING 1080p It is disappointing to note that despite its superb 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution (higher even than Philips' flagship 42" model) the decision was made not to support 1080p signals. For the less technically minded there are currently two common HD 720p (720 lines, progressive scan) and 1080i (1080 lines, interlaced). 1080p will gradually arrive in the future as the best of both worlds, but this TV will not support that format. Yet although at 37" this is a big screen, you'll still be hard pressed to detect any visual difference... Read review

...OK guys ignore the blurb about this being a 'full HD' Its full HD with SEVERE restrictions. I bought this TV yesterday and I thought I was in a pretty neat position since I've got 2 products capable of 1080P - an xbox 360 and PC with latest graphics card. Got an XBOX 360? yes? Want to stream 1080P? yes? You know this TV has component inputs? Great Yes?? - No its 1080i for you. Got a new PC with top notch graphics card? Yes? and want to stream 1080p through the vga? Yes? - No its 1024x768 for you. If you're lucky enough to have a DVI-HDMI converter for your PC then you can enjoy 1080P but man is it blurry that way. I thought I was technically capable, and I'm still messing around, but even with the latests nvidia graphics card and software I'm unable to get it to display correctly.
