Yamaha 12 String Acoustic Guitar
Review of Yamaha DW8-12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar by
Trev1000
Advantages: Loud clean sounding
Disadvantages: None
...If you've read many of my op's you've probably figured out I'm a musical type of person, but not the type that jingles whilst walking.
For years I have enjoyed playing rhythm guitar both privately and on the road but never more so than on my Yamaha 12 String. It's a lovely full size instrument that creates amazing volume even without an amp, and by far outdoes all the other acoustics I have had or used in the past, and I have had some nice ones.
The overall design is pretty standard at first glance, but if you look a little closer, or better yet actually try one you can appreciate the really low fretting that gives a very smooth action, and in the case of my one having dreadnought fretting it's even smoother.
The head of the guitar is well shaped also, and fitted out with chrome keys that really set of the rose wood neck...

Leo Kottke Now and Zen, Master of the Guitar
Review of 6 And 12 String Guitar - Leo Kottke by
nfp2
Advantages: Skilled musicianship, unique interpretations
Disadvantages: None, if you like the genre
...’t.
THE MUSIC:
When Kottke plays his custom-made 12 string Kottke-model Taylor guitar, the unique, sweet music has a tone all its own. His traditional American steel-string acoustic guitar moves, swings, caresses and drives with Zen-like depth and entrancing power mixed with tenderness. At times it's hard to imagine you're listening to one man ‘s fingers gliding over the frets and strings. The experience borders on the religious.
If you like original and innovative acoustic instrumental guitar arrangements of "roots"-inspired American folk and blues music, you simply must get a hold of some of Kottke's early albums, most especially his first from 1969, a solo -- “Leo Kottke: 6-and 12-String Guitar.” But beware -- Kottke's music is not the scratchy, hard-to-listen-to stuff favored by old-guard discographers standing by the Victrola snapping...

Guild JF30 guitar. One more time. Updated.
Review of Guild JF30 Acoustic Guitar by
FlameDruid
Advantages: Super quality guitar. Something to be proud of.
Disadvantages: Expensive
...and people recording with me and bemoaning how it had been a 12 string. I'd taken a shot with my digital camera and I'd look at it now and then and sigh.
Then one day, as Christmas 2003 approached, I was in Sound Control, another great music shop in Birmingham, looking for a Fender Squire package for my young son. Whilst he sat doing the obligatory 'Stairway to Heaven' on various models, I sallied forth, just out of curiosity, to see if that shop, too, had a 'special' room. It did. And at the very back of their special room, past some really high quality guitars, there stood just a few wonderful ones.
There was a John Lennon special edition Gibson acoustic that was really nice, one or two sunburst Guilds, and then I saw a blonde JF30 sitting right there. Not a twelve string, not sunburst, one piece back, gold tuning pegs, and I had to pick...

Applause AE64 Acoustic Electric Guitar
Review of Applause AE64 Acoustic Electric Guitar by
carl.mcqueen
Advantages: Beautiful sound, playability and look
Disadvantages: Disadvantages?!
...So I'm sat here in my room at my halls of residence playing on my acoustic electric guitar, when it hit me..."could I review this on Ciao?"...yes, I could!!
Applause Guitars are the younger brother of guitar manufacturers Ovation, who have been making trustworthy guitars for over 30 years now, and here have used this experience to make a guitar that doesn't sound like a guitar that is as cheap as this, but is a high-quality product.
My model number is actually the AE 28, rather than the 64, but trust me, from what I know about Ovations and what else I can work out, there are no differences here except the numbers!
I brought it in November last year from a local music retailers, who I purchased my two other guitars (both electric), so trusted them fully when they recommended me this offering, and they've not let me down...

Gr8 Guitar For Everyone
Review of Falcon Acoustic Guitar (Blue) by
DixieChick10
Advantages: Colours are nice, gr8 sound and v. stylish.
Disadvantages: Picks up fingerprints
...Falcon Blue Acoustic Guitar
My mom says I've got enough guitars now; I have two acoustics and one electric. I know most of your guitarists out there say that's nothing, but I can see where she's coming from, we have totally no room.
This guitar was my third guitar. I got my electric for my birthday last year and brought my second one quite cheap at a boot sale, lets just say it wasn't the best guitar in the world, so when I started to earn some money again I decided I needed a steel string acoustic guitar. I walked into the shop and the prices were well into the hundreds, but this falcon guitar was the last one in stock and I managed to get it for under £70.
It's more for beginners, because it's under £100, but I love it. It's got quite a sexy look to it, and I'm not disappointed to play it in front of people. It's got...

Marcel Dadi - country guitar an' all.
Review of 6 And 12 String Guitar - Leo Kottke by
webfoot
Advantages: Unusual, highly talented flat picking guitarist
Disadvantages: Not any that I know of
...,Bluegrass, Hillbilly, Irish Fiddle, 6-string and 12 string guitar and numerous others . The fact that Marcel Dadi's memory resides in the Nashville Hall of Fame suggests to me that he is a Flat Picking Nashville Country Guitarists, although I don't really care - I just adore his music as something different for a change.
Finally I will add a piece of history for those who enjoy this sort of thing.
Dadi was French, born in Tunisia in 1951. Influenced by the likes of the Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones he was later tutored by the guitarist Bernard Photzen who introduced him to the music of Elvis Presley, and more importantly, he taught him the art of "Guitar Picking." This led him to play solo with Hugues Aufray and to develop his own style of guitar flat picking
There are so many talented musicians out there - it is hard to know where...

Ernie Ball Strings.
Review of Ernie Ball Guitar strings by
JaYmEZ
Advantages: Great well known strings.
Disadvantages: Suck with tone towards the end of their life.
...INTRODUCTION:
First off these are guitar strings for electric guitars, acoustic guitars ( that are amplified to become electoacoustics with similar circuitry as electric guitars) But not classical guitars, with Nylon strings :-)
As with all products these days, a review on just plain old " Ernie Ball Strings " is very wide and open ! So I will be basing mine on use with the following products only.
Nickel ( not the brighter / treble accenting steel ones !!! ) wound electric guitar strings
"SUPER SLINKY" ( "9's " / "9-42" )
9, 11, 16, 24, 32, 42.
"REGULAR SLINKY" ( "10's " / "10-46" )
10, 13, 17, 26, 36, 46.
"SLINKY TOP HEAVY BOTTOM" ( "10-52" )
10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 52.
EXPLAINATION TIME :
Right not a lot of that above will mean much to non-guitarists, or beginners so I...

THE best electro acoustic guitar!
Review of Ovation Celebrity Deluxe CS257-RRB Acoustic Electric Guitar by
andycharger
Advantages: Sound, build, playability
Disadvantages: Rounded back can be awkward at first.
...If you have read some of my other guitar reviews, you will know im a bit of a collector of guitars. In fact, you could almost say its an obsession.
Therfore no collection would be complete without an axe from one of the world's finest and best known acoustic producers. Ovation.
I own the Ovation Celebrity Deluxe which i believe is the finest looking in the Ovation range. However, you will also know that from my other reviews, Im left handed with the guitar which narrows your choice in colour.
For a Right hander, the choices include, Black, Natural, Wine, Green and a sunburst effect top and also available in vasious mapel finishes. Im afraid to say my only choice was Black. Still it does look rather fetching and contrasts well with the Marquetry effect leaves around the multiple sound holes.
Being an Ovation, it does come...

review of Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar
Review of Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar by
Diamond_Joe
Advantages: very playable
Disadvantages: short sustain
...The Epipiphone Hummingbird is my first Acoustic guitar i have not stolen off my dad. £300 is not a bad deal, seeing as the Gibson acoustics are all around £3000.
The looks and finish of this guitar are very nice, i enjoy graphics on my guitar as long as they arent too loud, and this 'mockingbird' illustration is just plain pleasent. The shape of the guitar is perfect so that it can sit on your lap for hours and not ache, partly due to its incredibly light weight.
The playability is pretty much perfect, the best you can get for a £300 acoustic, and times I thought I was playing an electric, the fretboard was just so slim, the strings were at perfect distance from the fretboard.
The sound is not as good as the playability I must admit, probably because of the lightweight body, it is not hard enough to sustain the notes for a very long...

Taylor 810 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Review of Taylor 810 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar by
Carole2512
Advantages: Superior tone, easy to play
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I wish I was the proud possessor of a Taylor 810 guitar! The one I'm writing about belongs to a friend of mine, and he's very protective of it, will let very few people touch it (I appear to be one of the favoured few!)
The guitar itself is made of Indian rosewood back and sides, with a Sitka spruce top, with distinctive Taylor ebony bridge and scratchplate. The neck is tropical American mahogany, the fingerboard is also ebony. The soundhole is decorated with Abalone, however this is not excessive. Machine heads are gold plated for a touch of luxury.
As much care has been taken on the inside of this guitar as on the outside, and the finish is smooth, even on those hard-to-reach corners inside the guitar.
This particular guitar does not have a fitted pickup, however I use an ebony Mimesis acoustic pickup which is excellent...
