Yamaha 12 String Acoustic Guitar

...If you've read many of my op's you've probably figured out I'm a musical type of person, but not the type that jingles whilst walking. For years I have enjoyed playing rhythm guitar both privately and on the road but never more so than on my Yamaha 12 String. It's a lovely full size instrument that creates amazing volume even without an amp, and by far outdoes all the other acoustics I have had or used in the past, and I have had some nice ones. The overall design is pretty standard at first glance, but if you look a little closer, or better yet actually try one you can appreciate the really low fretting that gives a very smooth action, and in the case of my one having dreadnought fretting it's even smoother. The head of the guitar is well shaped also, and fitted out with chrome keys that really set of the rose wood neck...

A String of Pseudo Pearls

Advantages: Excellent backing tracks, competent vocals, a couple of strong pop hits
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of soul, some dull tracks, all rather dated now

...mind that in 1972 "The Black & White Minstrel Show" was still one of the top rated TV shows, which tells you something about the era. The Pearls were signed to the Bell label ? which had some hugely popular acts on their roster including the Bay City Rollers, Barry Blue, David Cassidy and Gary Glitter. The UK arm of the label focused mainly on commercial pop and the Pearls fitted into this perfectly. Interestingly the US arm tended to focus more on soul music. A String of Pearls Going back to my dad?s old Sanyo radio cassette recorder there was a song which was oft played by myself back in 1974 called ?Guilty?. ...~~ Purchase ~~ I bought my SP122 at Argos over two years ago along with a compatible and matching Acoustic Solutions SP101 Amplifier, Acoustic Solution SP111 DAB/FM Tuner and a pair of Acoustic Solution AVCS Column Stereo Speakers. I took advantage of a deal that was on offer at the time whereby if you bought the amp, tuner and CD player you would receive the speakers for free. ~~ Set up and Appearance ~~ This is an easy to use and uncomplicated CD unit. Semi-Fun

Advantages: A few giggles from the commentating duo.
Disadvantages: Ferrell is allowed too much rope and hangs himself.

...on the Hammond organ and slap bass. There are also a few electric organ and hi-hat motifs and some tense strings and brass for the climactic game. However, Shapiro's work gets lost amongst the other soundtrack choices that include disco favourites "Mr Big Stuff", "Dance to the Music", "Why Can't We Be Friends?" Barry White for a sex scene and a disco version of Holst's "Jupiter" in a "2001: A Space Odyssey" reference. They fit the era of the film, but I could really have done without Ferrell's funk-lite "Do Me Sexy" number, which is repeated too often. So all in all the soundtrack is passable. Hopefully "Semi-Pro" will be the final Will Ferrell sports movie as it proves his man-child persona has run its course. The direction is limp, the performances hampered by the showboating star and the writing doesn't have a high enough gag ratio to compensate...

Semi-watchable but nothing special

Advantages: The cast isn't too bad
Disadvantages: The plot is weak and far from original, I didn't find it as funny as other Ferrell movies

...- Story - Semi Pro tells the story of Jackie Moon, owner of a basketball team called the Flint Michigan Tropics, who faces having his team be dissolved unless they can win a series of games. He dreams of having his team be a part of the NBA but their track record doesn't make that seem very likely. He has paticularly wild and wacky ways of gaining publicity for himself and for the team by doing unrelated publicity stunts such as wrestling bears and refers to such events when he's challenged about his game tactics, making people think that there's very little talent/substance to the team. review of Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar

Advantages: very playable
Disadvantages: short sustain

...The Epipiphone Hummingbird is my first Acoustic guitar i have not stolen off my dad. £300 is not a bad deal, seeing as the Gibson acoustics are all around £3000. The looks and finish of this guitar are very nice, i enjoy graphics on my guitar as long as they arent too loud, and this 'mockingbird' illustration is just plain pleasent. The shape of the guitar is perfect so that it can sit on your lap for hours and not ache, partly due to its incredibly light weight. The playability is pretty much perfect, the best you can get for a £300 acoustic, and times I thought I was playing an electric, the fretboard was just so slim, the strings were at perfect distance from the fretboard. The sound is not as good as the playability I must admit, probably because of the lightweight body, it is not hard enough to sustain the notes for a very long...

2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Sxi - NEW SHAPE

Advantages: space, steering, brakes
Disadvantages: boot and not as cool to look at as new fiesta

...My girlfriend and me were given an 09 plate Corsa, when she wrote of her Ford KA (click my name for a review of KA). It was Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi in Silver, it had optional extras like bigger alloys wheels and tinted windows, but it also had a built-in Dashboard screen which I don?t know if is an optional extra or a modification, anyway it was at Pioneer screen which had Sat-Nav, radio controls, phone sync, CD player and if it is an option I would most certainly recommend it. The Corsa was very pleasant to drive, the steering is obviously PAS but it was extremely light, the brakes were excellent, the gearbox was surprisingly pleasant, and the driving position was fantastic. For a Super-Mini it really does feel like a big car, the driving position is slightly elevated and the dashboard is really quite large for a car of this size...
