Advantages: Price, build and sound quality, finish Disadvantages: 2 channels may not be enough
...When I bought my VW Bora about a year and a half ago now I wasn't overly impressed with the amount of base and sound quality I could get from the stereo. So the idea was to look for a well priced amplifier that wasn't to complicated but would provide the low end base that I was looking for without blowing out the back window in the process.
Don't get me wrong here, I am not one of those people who drives about with their windows down pumping out rubbish to all who care (not many).
Anyways, I made a trip up to Halfords for one of those serial buying events that my wife hates. I was looking for a car stereo to replace the factory one and a basic, cheap car amp to fit in the boot.
I came across the Sony XM SD 12 at what I thought was a reasonable £99.
DETAIL
This is really the Sony entry line model offering a total output...

Review of Sony XM-SD 12X
Advantages: quiet, durable, easy to use, 20 programmes in total, cost effective, energy saving, bargain price Disadvantages: class b could be class a
...I moved into my flat 5 years ago where i had a built in washing machine which was truly horrific despite being brand new the drum was dented and made the most horrific noise which i could live with but being on the 2nd floor my neighbours really couldnt.
I decided it was really time to upgrade and due to lack of space and already having a superb tumble dryer i decided it was time to invest in an integrated washer dryer despite everyone trying to convince me otherwise based on the fact that if one part fails they both fail.
I shopped around for truly ages and decided upon the indesit 12x as my faithful tumble dryer was the same make. I truly can not personally fault indesit they have never failed me yet!!!
The indesit WD12 is definately by far in my opinion a market leader with no vent required and no condenser this machine...

Review of Indesit WD 12X
Advantages: 12 x zoom, Mega OIS Disadvantages: No custom bag, Uses own battery (non AA)
...I was looking for a 12x camera with OIS, and I was considering a FZ5 when I come across the Panasonic DMCFZ7BS. For just £30 more, I thought it would be better to get a newer camera.
This camera was great; a big improvement over my LZ1. The best thing (and selling point) about this camera is its 12x zoom. What it did not say on the box is that it becomes 16.5 x zoom if the picture is taken below 6MP, which is over 450mm! The OIS works to cancel out hand shake at such huge zoom numbers. There are bags of controls for you to fool around with. You can even set/fine tune your own white balance, the weakest point of most digital cameras. Although having said that, the flash is not neutral, and if you are using the flash, you must set it to flash wb, unlike Canon cameras. But that has not been a problem yet.
Some digicams can have...
...After 18 months my WD12X Indesit washing machine gave up the ghost, a repairman came, took one look at it, and said, it's an Indesit, they're always going wrong, it's not worth repairing. Searching on the web rapidly confirmed that indeed Indesit washing machines are always going wrong. To add insult to injury, my Indesit cooker (also 18 months old) went wrong the same week, which cost £60 to repair, and my Indesit diswasher is giving me cause for concern too. Indesit offered the usual fob off excuses you would expect, and in short showed no concern for the fact their machines break down so shortly after the guarantee expires. My advice, avoid Indesit like the bubonic plague, their machines are a waste of money....

Review of Indesit WD 12X
Advantages: Cheap and comparable to the more expensive Plextor Disadvantages: Easy CD is maybe not as good as WinOnCD and support is vague
...also able to re-write at 10 speed and read at up to 32 speed (12x10x32). It has Burn-Proof technology, which I will not bore you with too many details about, as I've already explained it in reasonable detail in my Plextor opinion (titled 'Burn baby, burn'). Basically though, it means that with the use of a new CD Writer standard, cd's can be burned whilst doing other things in the background on your PC, without running the risk of getting those dreaded 'buffer underruns', which are caused when the PC cannot retain a sustained rate to the cdwriter during the burning stage.
The drive I bought is the retail pack, and come with the internal drive unit itself, manual, Adaptec (now Roxio) Easy CD Creator 4, Direct CD 3, limited edition version of eJay, audio cable, mounting screws, 1 years warranty where they will collect and replace if faulty...

Review of Memorex CD-RW drive
Advantages: reliable, cheap, silvery Disadvantages: Only available as 12x and 16x - burners now can write at 24x
...was a refreshing change. The individual discs are described as silver (well a light greenish silver if you ask me!) so for those of you who don't like the blue or gold CDs that other brands produce, these are for you!
The CDs have a writeable upper side - i.e. you can write on them, although they are not printable (not that I really see the need for printing on CDs that often!). They are multi-speed suitable - i.e. 1x,2x,4x,6x,8x,12x (in other words all normal burner speeds up to 12x) and hold either 700Mb (80Mb blanks) or 650Mb (see above). Writing is in compliance with Orange Book standard ? this is the standard that Philips and Sony used to allow CD writers to write CDs ? being based on the previous Red Book standard (the standard responsible for CD-DA ? (Audio) and CD-ROM (data)) meaning in other words that the CD is equally suited...
Advantages: Fast DVD Playback, Quiet, Region Free! Disadvantages: Firmware not easily available
...for £39 inc. p&p which I am very happy with.
4)Speed. I tried my friend's slower, 4 speed drive and not only did his sound like a small plane, the movie skipped if you did anything. This drive has been very smooth.
It's full name is Creative Labs 1241E (12x/40x) and if you look it up, it can be easily flashed to Region 0 (Region Free) which means you can play any DVD you want on it! Flashing instructions are available later on in this review.
When playing DVD's the playback is fantastic, no skips and it spins up quickly. Also contrary to some opinions I've found it to be a very quick reader, as it outdoes my 40x reader, and my 32x writer/reader. I believe this to be down the the superios bus transfer rate, as this drive runs at UDMA66 instead of UDMA33 like normal CD-ROMS.
As a test I ripped a DVD to my hard drive and all that data (4...
