Advantages: Good turntable, now replaced so deals available?
Disadvantages: A little tricky to change the cartridge

...In the interests of disclosure, I used to sell these products! Well I feel the need to weigh in here as this turntable seems to have been panned (but maybe by only one person - see comments). This is actually a good turntable. It is, if it has to be criticised, maybe a little skeletal as far as the arm assembly is concerned. I would definitely suggest that cartridge fitting/replacement be handled by an experienced dealer. Project has one of the largest dealer networks in the UK and is very well represented throughout mainland Europe and even the rest of the World. Indeed their products are some of the most modern in the turntable world, designed in Austria and built in a very modern plant in the Czech Republic. Advantages: fast

...Bought a Maxtor D740X 40GB at the beginning of 2003 from Savastore.com for: its 7200 rpm fast spinning speed and its SMART technology for monitoring any faults that are developed during the years. Also, it has ultra-DMA 133 interface which is faster than the average ultra-DMA 100. So far the drive is reliable and still working without any problem. Since I bought it as an OEM hard drive, there was no documentation attached to it. Worry not. 1. The master-slave jumper setting is pretty obvious on the drive. 2. To confrim that you can download a comprehensive manual (in PDF format) of this drive from the official Maxtor website. ...for manufacturers to start experimenting with larger drums? We could really do with a larger machine - certainly, as and when this dies, the next machine will be a Siemens 8kg capacity model. The top spin-speed being only 1000rpm is just silly. Other machines made by Bosch at the same time did 1200, and possibly even 1400 (I forget now), but this is what we could afford at the time. Why do manufacturers penalise the people buying lower-spec machines with low spin speeds? The final thing: three plastic panels, one right down at floor level, the other two on the detergent drawer. The fixtures for the floor level one broke shortly after the guarantee expired (how annoying is that?!), and the other two have likewise come away: for one of the two on the drawer, the one which prevents loads of water pouring down the front of the machine, it was a major... Advantages: Reveals the fatal hypocrisy of societies that sacrifice individuality to maintain a facade of order.
Disadvantages: It's hard to appreciate the allegorical "Cuckoo's Nest," when you're one of it's lifetime inmates.

Advantages: Very very VERY quiet, fast 1400rpm turbo spin
Disadvantages: Lack of 50*C cycle, makes the 15year old Hotpoint tumble dryer look even worse

Below the LCD display is 4 lights, going from bottom to top: • Ready – lights up telling you that the machine can be started • Wash – lights up when its doing the prewash and mainwash phases of the cycle • Rinse – lights up during the rinse portion of the cycle • Spin – lights up during the final spin Then there is the programme selector. Advantages: lots of fun to ride, great handling, funky looks
Disadvantages: slow, requires lots of modifications to get the best performance (but it's worth it!)

...get it derestricted. To derestrict the bike, the dealer will rotate the powervalve so it can open fully at high rpm and remove the restrictor from the exhaust manifold. This will allow the bike to rev right up into the redline which is where 2 strokes make all their power. Restricted the bike gets 70mpg, derestricted gets 60mpg. Getting the exhaust/reeds/gearing changed will lower this further to 55mpg and changing the jets will drop it to just under 50mpg. The tank holds 11litres. Expect around 115 miles from a full tank and a further 15 from reserve. My TDR came fitted with a Powervalve servo motor. Although it was set to the closed position whilst restricted, once derestricted the servo opened the exhaust port above 7,000 rpm. If you don't have a servo motor and set the port to stay permanently open you will rob the bike of low... Read review

...it. Maybe this needs an explanation - my old car used to shake rattle and roll after 30mph, this one is quite - the only noises were the engine and the radio! The driving position is very comfortable (i'm around 5'8" slightly over weight) but the first thing that hit me was how low I sit to the ground compared to other cars of a similar type. In face, when you see someon driving these, often you can only see their head and maybe their shuolders above the window sill line, but this just adds to the "speed feel factor". My dad owns a renault kangoo, and 30mph in the feels like about 15 after being in the civic - the driving position really does make that much difference!! The seats them selves aren't the recaro seats I was lead to believe in the brochure (unless you're lucky enough to get your hands on an anniversary... Read review
