Nine inch nails by the numbers

Advantages: clever, some good tracks, good sound manipulation
Disadvantages: dull, to much arty crap, not enough good songs, go's on and on

...Having been a huge nine inch nails fan since the Pretty Hate Machine album in some ways i really feel like i have to like this album as it is a monumental acheivement but when it comes down to it, it's going to be one of those albums that i want to like but i'm never going to listen to. Basically this is because it's dull. For how long can Trent Reznor keep on producing this kind of 'nine inch nails by the numbers' music, it seems to have come down to some kind of formula on this album. Since I work with multimedia and am very impressed with the software delivered with iLife (disk included with the Apple products) I was disappointed to see that most of the items which are of use, do not work using Leopard. So I returned to the older Tiger and this is the system that I am presently testing. With only 1GB of memory I believed that the applications may be a little slow but actually everything seems to be operating as usual. My old Titanium runs at 400MHz and so with the present speed of 2.16GHz I expected an increase in speed but should have known that there would be no change. Software takes just as long to start up, close down and granted I can run several enormous programs parallel, nothing actually is any faster. Points of comment 1...

...A friend of mine has a set of these on his Vauxhall Vectra, personally I do not actually like the look of them. Perhaps it is because they are fifteen inch, and sixteens would fill the arches better. The car itself is nothing to speak of either, maybe if it was in a lot better condition, it would suit these alloys. I may sound like I am picking fault with these alloy wheels, this is not the case, I just think they do not suit every car. In this instance, they are not that practical either, as the shape means that going anywhere near a kerb is sure to incur a scraping noise. My alloys on the other hand, do not stick out as much as the tyre, so they are protected. It does seem a shame, perhaps the cynic in me thinks this is deliberate, so people will have to replace them. If you do scrape your alloys, they can be "refurbed" but...

...So what's it got and is it worth it. My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista. The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home. Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting.
