There are many new features to the iPod Classic. The sound quality is great and the video quality is just as good as a TV. With 160GB of memory you will never have to worry about running out of space ever again. The iPod its self is very durable. I have dropped my iPod lots of times and it still looks brand new. The screen is a bit like a small wide screen TV but its great for watching TV shows and movies. I wouldn't recommend that any one buys a second hand iPod, as they are quite often broken. Ipod Classic - 160GB

Advantages: Size, Workmanship, Functionality
Disadvantages: Zero support for some old peripherals, crashes car stereo , Bit heavy!

...and click 'get album artwork' - this did take a while... but worked! Whilst coverflow looks nice I don't think it adds extra functionality to the IPod... more a space draining quirk! It does look awesome though ;-) Sound playback is the usual high standard - but this is really down to you, the user - I have all my imported (off CD) music set to apple loss-less. Which will take up more space, but with 160 GIGS to play with... it is not a great deal more! It must be said - the headphones supplied are useless... get some Sennheiser CX300 - the added clarity is noticeable - and you do not need it as loud! The hat trick is that the ear buds stay in my ear when I am working out. Video playback; to test this I ripped Family Guy from dvd to IPod using the ImToo software package. Quality was good - but KILLS your battery! So not ideal...

Seagate 160 GB HDD, ATA 100

Advantages: Only sleekness. Nothin other than this in my opinion
Disadvantages: Everything. Performance, reliability, speed, sound etc.

.... Comparison Im using Hitachi 160 GB now and it really rocks. Reliability is very good and very silent in its operation. Also Hitachi performance is better with its 8MB cache. It took 1.57 minutes to copy a 6.8 GB Hi-Def movie file in Hitachi but this took 2.41 minutes. Not recommended to buy this, its better to buy Seagate HDD of capacity 250 GB and above. Advantage In my opinion the only advantage that i can mention is the Manufacturer's support. He never let me down even for a single time when i went to him for servicing this HDD when it got repaired. :-) This is truly my opinion and mean no harm to anyone. 160gb SATA HDD

Advantages: fair amount of storage space for price
Disadvantages: Can be a bit noisey at times

...with 80gb Hard drives being the norm in most entry level pc's the price of the 160gb hdd is dropping. If you are looking for a reliable Hard drive for storage of MP3s, video or even gameing then the 160gb will be up your street. The space on the Drive makes it ideal of an entry level "pvr" system. I am currently using one of these as a secondary drive. I have so far managed to record 8hrs of tv to it at decent quality and still have plenty of space left..... The drive Is sata 150 with 8mb cache and 7200rpm spindle. This enables faster reading and writing to the drive. You will need to have a System Board that supports sata 150 or purchase a sata pci card if you want to run the drive in an older machine. You can buy a convetor which will enable you to plug the drive into a normal 40 pin IDE port. Ther is a warning to this...

I bought my Samsung hard-drive online from Ebay not in an auction but a Buy it Now seller. It has 160 GB storage capacity and costs me under £40. It weighs around 150 gram and easily fits in my bag or a jacket pocket. It is just a sealed aluminium box with a mini USB port at one end ? nothing else at all. The only thing potential buyers need to think about when considering this device is how much space they need for their files. 160 GB is one of the smallest sizes I could find for external hard drives, but it is about the same size as my laptop's internal hard drive - in other words, it stores a lot of data! If, therefore, you are looking for something just to back up a few photos, or a couple of word documents, it would probably be a better idea to do so by CD or USB stick. But it's a definite for people who want to transfer and back up there many files easily, securely and promptly, without having the downside of dragging a huge bulky hard drive around when you want to take your files with you elsewhere....

...I purchased this to replace my 3rd Gen? 40gb iPod and boy what a difference. The screen on the new 160gb iPod is MUCH bigger than my old iPod and also the screen is in colour. The 160gb iPod's screen shows a lot more info than my old iPod such has Cover Flow (I will mention this later in the review) and album covers. The quality of the screen is absolutely amazing; it remains bright in direct sunlight and is ALWAYS very easy to read. The iPod 160gb also has the ability to play videos but I cannot comment on this feature as I have not used it yet.
