Good quality TFT monitor at reasonable cost

Advantages: Lightweight, good viewing angle adjustment
Disadvantages: Speakers not best quality, but workable

...I decided to replace my 19" CRT monitor for home use. Using a 17" TFT at work, I found the resolution ont hat more than adequate. Research on prices on the web showed that this Digimate monitor was the most reasonable, with the right features. I was particularly attracted by the angle adjustment, and the built-in speakers. Ordering was extremly simple - I used a company called aria - and the cost was £123 inc VAT. I had the screen delivered to my work address, which was no problem for their on-line ordering system. The product arrived promptly and well packaged. Configuration onto my system was easy - very much a simple plug and play, as you would expect these days. The process was simple for all levels of user - from basic to expert. Setting the monitor up ont he desk - again very easy, with the angle adjustment...

ACER 17" TFT MONITOR FROM THEIR LCD VALUE LINE

Advantages: Good value, lots of adjustable features
Disadvantages: Poor viewing angles

I bought it as part of a computer package around 12 months ago - purchased seperately it will set you back around £325 incl VAT. The basic package didn't include a flat screen monitor so I paid around £180 extra as I wanted to avoid the eyestrain and headaches so often experienced with conventional screens. V7 L17FM flat screen/TFT monitor

Advantages: Good value for money, easy to operate
Disadvantages: Tends to "wobble" a little

...I've recently brought this TFT monitor as my two-year-old CRT monitor gave up on me. I'm not into gaming at all so I was after a simple TFT monitor with a large screen without paying anything more than £150. I shopped around for no more than half an hour before I found Misco on the Internet and was instantly keen on this model and its price. The item was shipped out the next working day and the following day I received the monitor and was not disappointed. The monitor was packaged well and was very easy to install (using the power and analogue signal cables to link the PC to the monitor) and it was up and running. I flicked through the user manual afterwards and it only confirms what I did. It also has a few trouble shooting tips. Onto the monitor itself then, the first thing I noticed was how much brighter and clearer...

Angelcare Monitor

Advantages: Peace of mind.
Disadvantages: Remember to turn off when lifting baby out of cot

...I knew from the outset that i would be one of those paranoid mum's constantly worrying about my baby & wondering if he was still breathing through the night, so I invested in the Angelcare monitor with movement sensor mat. The set includes a 'baby unit', 'parent unit' & movement sensor mat. The mat is placed under baby's mattress (if like mine, the base of the cot is slatted, or you're using it in such a moses basket, then you will need to place the mat on a firm surface such as a piece of plywood under the mattress), & is so sensitive that it can detect even the lightest of breathing. The mat connects to the baby unit which then transmits to the parent unit. If no movement (yes, even light breathing counts as movement) is detected for 20 seconds, an alarm sounds on both the baby & parent units, enabling time to get to your baby...

37" Flat Screen LCD

Advantages: Good quality picture, easy to install
Disadvantages: no connecter aerial in the package

...I have owned this Samsung television for a year now and have been very pleased with it's performance. I would say it was of average price for an LCD TV of this size at around £600. It was easy to install (although no aerial lead was included in the packaging) and the channel auto install was simple. The picture quality is very good, well defined, and colours are bright and sharp. Colours are even throughout the screen, with no fading or darker patches. The teletext functions are also good, with bright displays. The sound quality is excellent, defined and clear with no muffling. The remote control included in the packaging is basic but does the job. A Quality Monitor

Advantages: Many functions, clear sound, no interference, talk back
Disadvantages: Temp sensor maybe a bit sensitive

...We recently borrowed this monitor from a friend - it's on our wish list but we can't really afford to buy one, so we are trialling this one at the moment. Due to us borrowing it, we were never given an instruction manual, but have still managed to figure out most of the functions with success! Excellent TFT for an Excellent price

Advantages: Cheap, but still an excellent quality monitor, 12 ms response time
Disadvantages: Built in speakers, monitor wobbles with the stand

.... Another unlike able point is that of the odd designed it tends to let the monitor wobble a bit, for example if you have your printer on the same desk or if you give it a tap. But it's really not an issue as you don't go around tapping your monitor or printing documents constantly. I would highly recommend this monitor to any one it's as good as any well known manufacture, but much cheaper if your looking for a 17 inch monitor for all round media use this is the TFT for you....

Good cheap baby monitors (Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance Monitor)

Advantages: 100% portable, mains or battery powered, good solid units
Disadvantages: Can eat through batteries

...Recently the video baby monitors that I had been given (second hand) gave up the ghost so I had to purchase a new set. I decided that I didn't need a video one again or one with any other fancy gimmick on it (one that plays a melody etc), I wanted a nice basic and reasonable cheap monitor just so I could hear when she wakes up in a morning etc. After looking online at the hundreds of monitors available (most of which are very expensive) I found the Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance and after reading a couple of reviews I decided that this one should do the job just fine. Whats in the Box? In the box you get a set of instructions whish tell you how to get started and how to use all of the various features these monitors have, you also get two baby monitor unit, one is the baby unit and one is the Parent Unit and you get two mains adaptors...

Review of Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance Baby Monitor

Luscious LCD

Advantages: no flicker, no glare, true colours, takes up very little space
Disadvantages: pixellation is vaguely noticeable (I'm really searching for a problem though)

...I bought an LCD display mainly due to the claims that it gives a true and consistent colour representation. Also, because I spend so much time online, and was starting to suffer eye-strain. The lack of flicker on the screen is indeed a huge advantage - I never get headaches from home use any more. Now all I need to do is persuade my office to switch to LCD! The model is Apple Studio Display 17" with 1280x1024 resolution. It was fairly pricey at £698 (from Computer Warehouse) but well and truly worth it. Being a flat screen, the measurement is true (an ACTUAL 17 inches, diagonally) so you really feel like you have a lot of screen for your cash. And of course there's the massive benefit of its shallow depth. There's an adjustable angled leg at the back of the screen, to make it stand up, but the whole unit will take up no more than 6...
