...Thanks in advance for reading this and I hope it helps you in making a purchasing decision. Over a decade ago I was a poor student shopping for my first ever PC. I knew what I wanted - a 486 processor running at 25MHz, 8Mb RAM, 200Mb harddrive and most importantly an Iiyama 14" monitor. Sadly the wages department of the hotel restaurant I worked through that long and tedious summer dictated a few small changes. The PC eventually became a 386 processor running at 40MHz, 4Mb RAM, 120Mb harddrive and no Iiyama monitor. Instead of the Iiyama I had some rebadged monitor with a huge curve and a low refresh rate. The Iiyama was the first thing to drop off the list as it saved the most money. My point? Even then Iiyama was synonymous with quality and of design and product. ...I chose this particular make of monitor for two reasons. Firstly, I have a friend who chooses Iiyama for his web design business and he was singing their praises. They produce a stable and detailed image suitable for professional use so that was a good start. Secondly, I wanted a really large monitor for PC games and this one's a whopper. It's a 22". Iiyama Vision Master 1451 Review

Advantages: Big screen, sharp colours, high refresh
Disadvantages: Big

...and increases all the way to 120Hz at 1024x768. This is excellent for a CRT monitor of this age. I too have never needed to use the onsite warranty. The screen settings are very easy to use and understand. The buttons are labled obviously and do waht they say they will. The manual is good however is highly Americanised (Iiyamas being designed in California). Overall this is a good monitor and will most probably last you for years without a noticable degradation in performance. The only reason I stopped using mine was that I got a TFT. Which is just plain lovly....

Iiyama still the Best!

Advantages: Razor Sharp Definition, Steady Picture, Flat Screen

...Iiyama....this name has been around for many years as one of the leaders in screen technology, it is renowned for the very high quality of it's picture. Since I started in computers back in 1987 I have always tried to own a good monitor because you only have one set of eyes. I've had Taxan's, Sony's, Viewsonic's, and finally Iiyama's. The latest one being the Vision Master Pro 452, it's a 19" Aperture Grille Monitor, and is a member of the group that are call NF Naturally Flat, and yes the screen is flat, dead flat. Because of this the picture is extremely sharp and defined, this is due to the Mitsubishi Daimondtron Tube and Iiyama's excellent electronics. Doesn't live up to iiyamas reputation

Advantages: High refresh rates, it's not to bad for a 15" shadow mask monitor
Disadvantages: it's not a great 15" shadow mask monitor, 15" monitors aren't that great anyway.

...The MF-8515G doesn?t do the name iiyama justice. The monitor has poor power regulation, which means the picture resizes when the screen moves from large amounts of white to large amounts of black on the screen. The contrast is also quiet poor, though bear in mind I am writing this on the iiyama Vision Master pro 410 (Also known as the a702-ht for no apparent reason) which is the finest monitor known to man as far as I?m concerned, so anything else looks poor! In it?s favour it does have a good OSD by iiyama standards, though it?s still the area iiyama constantly loose out in, and it has good refresh rates for a 15? monitor. All the same, have a look around before buying this....

Advantages: Exceptional pricing for a great fst screen
Disadvantages: Picture position can vary on warming up

...I use 2 of these screens daily in a triple head setup (455, 454, 455). They are exceptional value for money and at the time I couldn't quite afford to buy 3 VM PRO 454s. Personally I think they look best at 1280 x 1024. You certainly wouldn't want to go above that on these screens. They're not quite as sharp as a 454, and the brightness is notably less than on a 454. Annoyances: OPQ has only 2 settings on the 455 - on or off. When you switch it on it looks great when you have something white open, but once you start moving windows, etc, it can appear too blurred. The 454 on the other hand has 3 settings - text, picture and video (if I remember correctly). ...Straight from the box my FIRST VMPro 452 had severe problems. Geometry was way off and there was a reference to drivers in the set up but none supplied. You need to go to their site to d/l them. Great, I'm upgrading from a 17" set to 800x600 so after a bit of screen resizing via the graphics card so I could actually SEE the Start button I got on the net. Once installed I noticed that all the verticals were very "wavy". Not the sort of broad wave you can iron out with a bit of pincushion correction but small "kinks" that couldn't be shifted. 2 hours in I go for a meal and come back. Upon booting the desktop has squished itself to the left leaving a 1" gap on the right!!! Lines are even more distorted now. Next morning I rang Iiyama who immediately said they would replace (top marks here - shame about the product!). The replacement...

Iiyama 24" monitor? What a great deal!

Advantages: Great value, great quality, guaranteed
Disadvantages: You have to buy a £10 RGB type lead yourself.

...that 1920x1200 is much better. Games seem clearer and I can get a lot more of everything on screen. I think the contrast could be sharper though it seems pretty clear and can be adjusted with the front-mounted buttons provided. It has a default that doesn't set this full on which is where I like to have it. Easily tweaked. There was one thing I found irritating about this monitor which was that when it arrived I couldn't use it. It was impossible to get a picture. This is because most monitors boast a VGA and a more modern DVI socket. In fact, this big Iiyama has an HDMI socket on and that's very modern so you'd just assume it would have a bog standard DVI socket. It doesn't. I had to go to a local computer shop and choose from either a £5 adaptor so that my computer's DVI cable could be plugged into it and then into the monitor as RGB...
