...The Marriot Hotel , Cardiff. Location: This hotel is 50m from the main strip of pubs and clubs in the throbbing centre of Cardiff. It is only 200m from the train station, and clearly visible from it. The location could not be better for a stay in the city. Price: I paid 110 pounds for a normal double room, with 2 for breakfast, though checking the board in the hotel the 'rack rate' for that room is 165 pounds, so there stands a testament to booking on the internet! Cardiff Marriott Hotel

Advantages: Ideal location
Disadvantages: Have to pay to use the hotel's car park

...I stayed at the Cardiff Marriott Hotelin December 2003 and I believe there are many advantages of staying here but that there are also disadvantages. I shall take you through the pro's and con's so that you get a clear picture for yourselves. The main advantage was that the Marriott is situated in an ideal location- it is only a few meters away fro a row of pubs and restaurants and around 10 minutes walking time from the main street in Cardiff. The Hotel itself is very impressive on the inside- everywhere is very clean and shiny! There is a bar there and a restaurant and a gym/spa. The gym is quite large and for each treadmill there is tv. The pool itself is also large and you get a clean towel each time you go into the gym or the pool. ...Having worked for 25 days in succession I finally got the opportunity to get the day off; this was cut short by a telephone call requesting I shift my backside to Cardiff as I was "Urgently Required". I tried to get out of working this night but you don't argue with these people or you never get any work again. Being in rather a bad mood I requested they find me a good hotel as I was exhausted. My client agreed to place me in the £130 a night Marriott Hotel in the heart of Cardiff. A decent but basic 2 star hotel near Bournemouth Pier

Advantages: Good value for money and good location.
Disadvantages: Based on the price, none.

...heating radiators, but also had openable windows which looked out on to the sea. Good wardrobe space, a dressing table and draw space. The bed was comfortable enough and the linen and pillows were of a good standard. The restaurant/bar was reasonable and the staff on reception were polite and helpful. I did not have a car but there was some car parking space outside but I don't know if this would incur an extra charge. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Bournemouth pier and a similar distance from Bournemouth town centre. Its abour 2 Km from Bournemouth Railway Station. Hotel stays in Bournemouth are quite expensive so I'd recommend The Russell Court as one of the better value 2 star hotels to stay at....

Last week he had to travel to Cardiff and whilst looking for a suitable hotel I suddenly remembered that, as members of the Leisure Break Club, we would have the chance to take two nights for the price of one at The Angel Hotel owned by the Paramount Group. Leisure Break members always have the chance of this offer during January, February and March each year. I found the brochure and discovered that two nights for the two of us at The Angel Hotel Cardiff, which is a four star hotel, would cost £102 for bed, breakfast and evening meal! ...Just back from a wonderful stay at The Star hotel in Kingussie. We stayed for a 5 night break in Sept. and cannot find fault. We were welcomed by the owner, and shown to our room. Good size, with large double bed, nice dressing table & warbrobe with plenty of space for all our walking gear. Tea & Coffe making facilities aswell as an iron & hairdryer. You can have the option of having a bath or shower, we chose bath, which was huge! Ample car parking behind the hotel which also doubles as a little beer garden.
