Radio 2 -- Easy Listening With Style!

Advantages: Diverse shows that appeal across the spectrum
Disadvantages: The mix can be a little strange at times.

...I always find it surprising as to the diversity of Radio 2, the schedule on any given night could contain a short half hour program about Folk music and another night a program about Theatre organs can be heard, I have listened to both and realised there is more to life than listening to such stations as Happy FM (or Capital) that tend to play the same record over and over again every two hours. Besdes these stations appear to be aimed at someone about 15 years younger than myself anyway. Radio 2 on the other hand caters for people of my age and boy they certainly deliver, I always tend to be in the car coming home or going somewhere when Elaine Paige is broadcasting. Sometimes the journey can be from hell at worst and other times just damn right boring. So to experience the diversity that Radio 2 offer on a Sunday is a bonus...

Don't we all want radio that doesn't annoy?

Advantages: Great, easy to listen presenter with a lovely afternoon show.
Disadvantages: not enough presenters/programmes like this

...the came style or theme of music for 50 mins. Your MP3 player can be another great solution but even then sometimes a jumbled assortment of musical styles doesn't satisfy us. We want a bit of chat and a link to the outside world just to know that everyone is still there. The ultimate answer to this dilemma is ........drum roll........ RADIO!! Here within the world of Radio we can find a healthy mix of everything we desire.......or can we? Yes, there is a radio station/programme for every taste conceivable but is there that one thing that can really suit and fit into your background needs? Some stations/programmes are great until you get that 2 minute burst of advertising, not so annoying on its own but once it gets repeated every 10 or 15 minutes it starts to drive you round the bend! With other choices you can find the style...

...radio 2 has all types of taste in music but not to heavy the way it is presented from talk shows to just simple types of music can make you feel so relaxed, i would not do without my favourite steve wright love songs on a sunday morning it sets me up for the day. i like the shows because they give you facts between music that make you think and sticks in your mind and pass on to other people it could be about the earth, space, the world,people of other countrys it may be witty chat or serious chat so why not turn your dail to the station and try it your self....

Advantages: Easy to use, Long battery life & Comfortable to hold
Disadvantages: Only for use with cars and boats

Radio Two Is First

Advantages: Good all round
Disadvantages: None

...As a middle of the road radio programme there is nothing to beat Radio 2 right from the early morning greetings from Sarah Kennedy as she helps to get us out of bed, through Terry Wogan's two hour stint, to Ken Bruce's spell until midday. For me the next two hours are the best as Jimmy Young's prog will contain live interviews of politicians, celebrities etc. who are currently in the news. And yes the awkward questions are asked and the answers are ferreted out. From time to time Jimmy has "specials" where a pets expert comes in to answer listeners' questions about pets, or an antiques day or a drugs day etc. On most days there is a regular topic like on Mondays there is medical, Thursdays food and the like and Fridays the most informative of all is the legal day where a regular legal chappie answers...

Either I'm old or Radio 2 has changed

Advantages: Variety, personalities, entertainment
Disadvantages: It's radio 2... it has a "wrinkley" stigma... you must put that out of your mind.

...Probably the latter. Radio 2 is, in my opinion, the best of the BBC radio stations and for one simple reason: variety! Where else can you find the dulcit tones of Mr Wogan waking you up, Mr Wright keeping you awake in the afternoon (ok, so he's a bit repetitive, but that's his style), an interesting documentary in the evening and the light-hearted warbling of Jonathon Ross on a weekend? Nowhere, and that's part of the charm. The mix of styles and personalities is excellent - where do the better DJ's go when they are no longer flavour of the month? Radio 2! Reading the list of programmes is like reading a roll call of important broadcasters. The Radio Station of Choice

Advantages: Wide Range of Music and Presenters
Disadvantages: Not so good for evening listening

...Radio 2 has become my radio of choice, I will be honest and say that I used to mock listeners to the station as old fuddy duddies but have to admit that my view has changed. As a fan of Chris Evans I moved to Radio 2 after a long period of listening to Virgin Radio (even though Evans involvement had finished). From the breakfast show with the long standing Terry Wogan through to Drivetime with Chris Evans there is a good mix of music and presenters. Terry and his Breakfast Show is entertaining and I do find that I enjoy the chat that goes on and the interplay between Terry and various members of the traffic and news teams is fun. None moreso than John 'Boggy' Marsh who even has his own series of tales told about him in the now infamous 'Janet & John' stories. Too old for Radio 1, not ready for Radio 2?

Advantages: Not a slave to the charts, interesting new stuff plus good old stuff too
Disadvantages: Not much hip hop (whether that's a disadvantage is up to you!)

Modern Warfare 2 - Fun but not Fantastic

Advantages: intriguing gameplay, flawless sound/graphics, rolling storyline
Disadvantages: anti-climax, little repetitive, nothing really new to catch onto

...The hype was wild for Halo 3, it continued for the anticipations of Halo Wars and many were disappointed. Hype was given for Gears of War and that continued for Gears of War 2 and many were disappointed. Likewise Call of Duty was bound to reach a similar anti-climax and so far it has. The overall conclusion is that is fun but not fantastic. However it is important to note that unless you are the stereotypical gamer who has his own gaming chair complete with a surrounding of cookies, crisps, full fat cola, a headset and the limited edition of Halo 3's Spartan mask, likiness is you won't find the game at all a let down. Afterall Infinity Ward are possibly the only people to construct a war-time gaming experience that steers well clear of clichés which removes the unbelievable characters who would look more in place in a Marvel Comic strip...
