I bought this charger last year because I bought a wireless mouse and keyboard so made more sense getting rechargeable batteries rather than spending money on normal batteries every few weeks. I went with Uniross as they make decent rechargeable batteries and are well known for it. This x-press 300 charges AAA, AA & 9V size batteries. It lets you charge 2 or 4 AA/AAA and one 9V batteries of the same type at the same time. It's suitable for AA, AAA and 9V (PP3) NiCd and NiH batteries. Is very straight forward to use, only one switch to chose the type of battery to charge, insert the batteries, up to 4 depending of type, plug it in and wait until its charged. It comes with a charge indicator and will stop charging when the batteries are ready; a green light will come up. It can recharge batteries type AAA, AA and GF22, respectively up to 4, 4 and 2. I have purchased on a promotional campaign so the price is irrelevant, although you can find it at the big stores in promotion time to time. ...Having had a previous Uniross charger for several years which had provided a stirling service until it was dropped and broken, I wanted to stay with a manufacturer I knew and felt comfortable with. After hunting down several models I narrowed it down to this 1 hour charger (model no. AAB04541-3) which charges both AA and AAA batteries, either two or four at a tiime. It will also charge either Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries. It comes with a mains plug charger adaptor (100-240v) and a lead for plugging into your car cigar lighter socket. ...I have the old style one of these and I find that it does the job just great. I purchased it as it is a very cost evective way of supplying my GPS with the endless number of batteries it eats through. It is very easy to use, compact and therefore easy to store and supports the most common battery sizes, AA, AAA and 9V in both NiCd and NiMH forms. I have used it to charge all three of those batteries all of which it does as it should. It has indicator lights which indicate to you whether or not the batteries have finished charging. It includes 4 AA batteries so your ready to roll. There is a switch on the front which is used to switch the built-in timer between 7 (A) and 3 (B) hours. The only problem is working out what timer you need for what battery. Very high capacity batteries may need charging more than once to accomplish...

Why you may never need to buy batteries again

...power my digital camera for about 6 hours with the screen on before dying. They also run my wireless optical mouse for about 2 weeks. If you have a lot of electrical items that use them, I recommend getting another set of 4 so you can have some charging or ready and others in use. One problem, however as with all rechargeable batteries is that as they are charged more, there battery life slowly shortens and need to be replaced. The best idea I hav found is to use the batteries during the day and charge them at night whilst sleeping, however Ir estrain from charging unless the battery is empty to increase the lifespan of the battery. Uniross Charger + Batteries

...This review is for: AA batteries = 2 x (2.8V) and charger for Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh batteries. I bought this charger and batteries to play with my new CD/MP3 player. When arriving home, I opened the box, read the instructions and decided "yes, fairly simple, I'll give it a go". Let me note that there is a switch on this charger, and you can choose either Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh. Fairly simple to understand. So, before plugging them in to charge, I put the switch to the correct side of the charger, and then plugged them in. A red light came on in the right slot, which also happened to be right next to the Ni-Cd, to indicate which side of the switch you choose. Just a coincidence, but I had to think for a moment that maybe it was charging Ni-Cd instead of Ni-Mh. I'm not sure how much of a wise design this is, but that was the only problem I...
