Vauxhall Vectra Elite 2.0DTi 16v Estate

Advantages: Spacious, comfortable, well equipped and economical.
Disadvantages: Sounds like a diesel, accelerates like a diesel!

...the car I eventually bought just 20 minutes away. A bit of haggling with the dealer and I drove away a 12 month old car with 20K on the clock for just over half its new price - bargain! (I'll never buy another new car again.) The whole thing, from start to finish took about 2 months, but I re-emphasise, don't rush in, make sure you look at and drive all the ones you would consider! When you have made your decision, search the internet and local papers and above all be patient, your car is out there if your prepared to wait. Buy a car in haste and your pocket will suffer!!!! So what's, good about the Vectra. Well its fantastically spacious and certainly feels like a big car. The Elite is very well equipped and comes with leather seats (heated), climate control, cruise control, rain sensitive wipers, multi CD/radio/cassette player...

Toyota Celica 2.0 GTI 16V 1993 'K' Reg'

Advantages: Reliable as a lamp-post, great handling, sexy shape, great performer.
Disadvantages: Poor turning circle, parts expensive

...Toyota Celica 2.0 GTI 16v 5th generation ST182. British car, not import. The model I?m describing here is a ?K? reg 1993 5th generation, 2.0 16v GTI, 3SGE engined front wheel drive version of this wonderful car; it has 154 BHP on tap and is in a non turbo form. The reason for the GT4 coming about with its 200 odd HP output is because there was too much power for just a 2 wheel drive car to handle, torque steering and wheel spin being major drawbacks to power being put down on the road. So split into 4 wheel drive (GT4) evened out the power, thus enabling major upgrades in performance to be had by this body design. The Celica range harks back to the early 70?s and is still being sold today in its latest form, so they surly got something right in the design of this car; the model range has a great pedigree and I?ve always loved Jap...

Only Clio worth having other than the 2.0 16v

Advantages: This is probably the cheapest car to run you'll ever own.
Disadvantages: Poor seat and pedal positions and of course the "The Clio Rattle"?

...few bags or even some alloy wheels, but nothing to write home about, spare wheel access can be very tricky if you have lots of things in the boot as there is no room to move contents to as the whole boot lining has to come up to get to the wheel. Moving onto the engine. 1.5 litre turbo diesel with 80bhp and about 180nm of torque. With the car's net weight being roughly 1000kg, this gives the engine little trouble in zipping about. Forget the stats, this car needs 3rd gear to hit 60mph and 2nd just about makes 45mph. So 0-60 is never going to be a strong point, however I have done some road tests with a friend owning an identical car to this albeit the 1.6 16v (110hp) petrol engine. And in 2nd and 3rd gear, the diesel is glued to the rear of the petrol. Move into 4th and the petrol starts to move away. But that's a 30bhp advantage...

Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 DTI LS

Advantages: Spacious and nice looking
Disadvantages: Quite noisy and does go through a lot of fuel

...Bought one of these cars myself, thinking they looked nice (which they do). Since that day I sort of regret it. It is a nice car, quite fun to drive but can have a lot of problems. A common problem with Vectra's that I found out after the purchase was that they often need a non-return valve fitted to the engine. For no reason at all, and at the most inappropiate of times, you find yourself going out to your car to start it up and it just won't fire up. According to the mechanics the fuel is running back from the engine to the tank, so basically no fuel is available to start it up. I'm not sure if this was a 'random' fault on mine due to the fact that it had been into a garage to get a new turbo head, and maybe one of the mechanics that were tinkering with the engine didn't do something properly. At present I reside in a small village...

Ford Mondeo Zetec 2.0 16v 2003 Model

Advantages: Large interior, stylish looks, comfortable drive
Disadvantages: High road tax band

...Well where to begin, bought my mondeo from a mate who wanted a quick sale before travelling the globe. Got the car for a steal £5000 24,000 miles on the clock in 2005. Had the car just over a year now and its been an absolute dream. Lets start with its looks, modern styling and a great colour moondust silver. Alloy wheels, front fog lights, front and rear heated screens, electric mirrors, remote central locking, power steering, abs, air conditioning, ice and frost warning indicators, air bags all over the car front back and side curtains, fords IPS system (intelligent protection system), cd/radio all as standard. Inside, the car is massive, I've got three kids, 2 still in car seats and with the third in the middle they all look tiny and have plenty of room, so much I don't get kicked in the back anymore. The best part is they...

Nissan Primera 2.0 Sport

Advantages: Comfortable, safe car to drive with the power when needed.
Disadvantages: None spring to mind

...I purchased my Nissan Primera 2.0 Sport in March, it was 6 months old W plate and had done 3,045 miles. Since then I have covered 11,000 miles averaging 38.5 mpg at a reasonable 70 mph. The car drives and handles very well. We use it at weekends - once a month for a trip to Newcastle-upon-tyne, from Sittingbourne and once a month to Bournemouth. So we do a minimum of 1,500 miles per month. It is comfortable and has enough things to change (seat position for height, rake, steering wheel etc.)when we share driving without it becoming a pain. All switches etc. are easily reachable. Outlook from the car is good. It is a pleasure to drive. It is my first privately owned car for 20+ years, having had a variety of Vauhalls, odd Ford and Peugeot. Last company car being a Passat, which was the best Co. car I have had. The Primera is...

2.0i-16 4WS 1988 - 1992

Advantages: Speed, Handling, Looks, Running Costs, Reliability, Flare,
Disadvantages: Not available in Black!

...honesty probably won't work by now but the sunroof more than makes up for it. As mentioned before the rear seats are only a namesake statement and are only good for babyseats and luggage, So once you have aquainted yourself with the interior its time to turn the Key. Allow a couple of seconds for the ECU light to go out after priming the fuel system then start her up. A good prelude should start on the button with a turnover. Now you can take her out and for a spin. Don't be afraid to take the revs upto the redline these engines were deigned for high revs. Alot of newer Prelude owners will argue that the increased induction noise is down to VTEC when in reality at 5200rpm the secondary inlets open up and give the engine a final poke to the limiter! This was present on all the 2.0i-16v Engines available in Europe so when asked is that VTEC...

Kylie - The Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique

Advantages: Fun, cheap to run and insure, stylish and safe.
Disadvantages: Leaky sunroofs.

...This review is based on a 2004 Renault Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique. After having an accident in my previous Clio (a 1.6 16v Dynamique) I set out looking for a new car, eventually I found myself (after much looking) the following car? A 2004 Renault Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique in flame red, the colour I really wanted, my previous car had digital climate control and an electric sunroof so I purposefully found a car that also had these features. Being the 2004 model it had the face lifted front end (MK2 PH3) The car I found had the following specification: Performance: Engine - 1.2 16v 4cyl MPI (multipoint injection) Power - 75bhp Torque - 105Nm 0-60 - 12.6secs Top Speed - 106mph Gearbox - 5 speed manual Interior: Sports seats Digital Climate Control Electric Sunroof with sunblind Electric windows (one touch...

Nightmare on Vectra street

Advantages: get to know your local mechanic
Disadvantages: Keep fit by walking everywhere

...I've owned a few Vauxhalls, even a Chevette , and also many other different brand vehicles, but the the Vectra was one of the worst cars i have had the misfortune to have ever purchased. It hated to be driven at all, when ever i turned the ignition key the damn thing wouldn't start as the sensors all seemed to go mad at the same time, each sensor must have had it's own sensor to sense it was senseless. When i did manage to get it started it dragged itself along the road as though someone had stolen my tyres whilst i wasn't looking. It cornered like a sherman tank with one track missing and trying to get some power from it was asking for trouble, considering it had a 2.0 litre engine under the bonnet you would have achieved more responce from a snail on sleeping tablets. The dashboard lights were very pretty, considering most of them...

Vauxhall Vectra Arctic 2.0 Diesel

Advantages: Economical, Great Handling & Reliable, Spacious
Disadvantages: Looks a bit scruffy, No CD Player, security needs to be improved (But is Sufficient)

...I have recently purchased the Vauxhall Vectra Arctic 2.0 Diesel, 1998 (Second-Hand). To say the car is nearly ten, the wear and tear is in reasonable condition, and the handling of the vehicle is superb, I had the opportunity to test drive this vehicle (Petrol Version) when it was launched, but it did not meet expectations, it was tight to handle round corners, and the fuel consumption was high, and it just felt scruffy and clingy. So I scrapped the idea of getting one and went to fords instead. However I was given the opportunity to buy one of these cars second-hand, and I have to say the feel of the diesel is brilliant, although, not so good for the environment, the Vauxhall can do the distance on a low budget. The Vauxhall is very comfortable, except when going over the speed bumps, the suspension is a little harsh, but overall...
