...Everyone seems to have a tiny pocket USB drive these days, however they suffer from limited capacity and can be quite slow (especially the older USB1 type). Belkin realise there's a good market to be tapped here... via their USB2 hard drive caddy. I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a piece of kit. Thanks to a £20 voucher from Powergen, I picked this drive bay up for £29.99 from PC world. In went an old fujitsu 10MB drive and now it's a fantastic portable (just) storage solution. The bay itself can accomodate both 3.5 and 5.25 inch drives to give you an idea of how big it is. Power is supplied via a normal 6A mains lead (supplied) which is identical to your computer power lead (so no problem replacing if you lose it). Advantages: 250GB Lots of memory, Low power consumption, Cheap
Disadvantages: 2.5-inch limits it to USUALLY Laptops but can be used in desktop computers

...Fairly decent hard-drive. Western Digital are a well trusted company, especially for computer equipment. 250GB is a massive storage device, you could store ALOT and with low power consumption makes it even better. Looking at the prices too this is a real bargin! I really recommend this hard-drive, the real-time data protection will help if your computer ever shuts off. It is also a 2.5-inch hard-drive which usually associates with laptops, however there are some desktop computers which could use this. If you did want to buy this for a desktop computer but your computer could only use 3.5-inch then you could buy an external hard-drive shell which could plug straight into your computer OR laptop through USB or Firewire. Overall I think this is a very nice hard-drive and a good bargin at the price it's avaliable for.... Read review

Advantages: Quiet, fast, very portable, large amount of storage

...I purchased one of these so that I had a large amount of backup space for various things that I have on my desktop PC and also to transport files etc between my PC and a friends PC. I paided £69 for a 60GB version of this drive, you can get cheaper drives but Western Digital are top quality ,the drive in my PC is a Western Digital and its always been very reliable, and like anything in life, you only get what you pay for, these very portable drives do work out a bit more expensive than the larger sized external hard drives. This external hard disc drive comes with a USB cable which is around 18 inches in length, this drive makes use of the high speed USB 2, but you can use it if you have USB 1, but the drive will be slower in operation. The drive feels very solidly built, and the base of the drive is incased in a thick rubber for shock... Read review
