...I bought my car in March 2003 after waiting 6 weeks for it to be delievered, boy was the wait worth it. I ordered my car with leather interior, air con and sun roof, it looks smart, and it is the thinking man's GTI. So far I've completed 2000 miles in mine. I find the seats very comfortable and secure - they do hold you in when you are taking corners at speed. The main reason why I bought a 206 D Turbo was becasue of the fuel economy - I drive 90 miles everyday and I needed an econmical car after my 307 started a drink problem like Oliver Reed. I average about 45MPG when driving to and from work, strangley enough, fuel economey in city driving improves this figure to around 50MPG. The only giveaway that the car is a diesel is when it is idiling - not in terms of sheer noise, but the way the gear lever slightly vibrates, but once...

1.4 lx HDI

Advantages: great stying
Disadvantages: cars limitations

...For the last week now I have been the proud owner of a 206 LX 1.4 HDi, and I have covered just under 1000 miles on a combination of motorways, country b-roads and town driving with between one and four bodies on board. My car is the new LX specification (which now includes front fog lights, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlights), and I have added a rear spoiler. I can only say that this little car performs admirably, regardless of what you ask of it. The 1.4 common-rail turbodiesel engine has 68BHp and 115lb/ft of torque available at 2000rpm, so when you need to pull away from something you can do so easily. On paper, the 1.4 petrol is faster but in real-world driving the immediacy of the torque delivery on the HDi means that it feels quicker. 206 SW - Reasonable enough, but lacking power

...We recently went on holiday to Cornwall, and rather than face the 12 hour drive from Edinburgh, decided to fly to Exeter, and hire a car. We ended up with a 206 SW 1.4 - which was a little smaller than what we'd originally ordered, but were reasonably happy with it as basic transport. Unlike the photo (I hope to add some of the car I got, shortly) this is a five door model. The car we got had a 1.4 litre fuel injection engine, with power steering and air cnditioning, it wasn't a top priority, but when the temperature climbed to the 30s - that's 90s in old money!, we were more than grateful! The car itself was described as an 'estate' - I think that was perhaps overstating it - my preference would be to describe it as a 'squareback' - having a 'boxy' back end. First impressions were that it was reasonably well equipped...

Advantages: Stylish looks, stylish interior, nice alloys

...I was forced into a purchase of another car as I had wrote off my previous one (Peugeot 106). As I had liked my old car I decided to get another Peugeot. Originally, I had wanted a second hand 307 but was lured by the free insurance and looks of the new 206 Sport. I really like the look of the 206 Sport. The interior is very nice also, with the red and black trim. The one damper though, is the istrument panel with the stereo and air conditioning controls. It just looks out of place against the rest of the interior. It's as if they did a great job with the rest of the car and then suddenly they only had half an hour left to design the instrument panel! It's also pretty cramped inside (I have the three door model) and I'm a short person. It is especially the case for the rear passengers where leg room is minimal. But as I am fairly...

...Imagine if you were driving along in your friend's new 206 GTi. He stops at the pump and fills up...He goes to pay. It suddenly dawns on you with great distress....Your friends has just put 40 litres of DIESEL in his nice shiny new 206! That was the situation that hit me when I wrote this opinion some 18 months ago. But it was ok. It was not a GTi. It was a HDi. This means that just because it looks like fish, swims like a fish, acts like a fish, does not mean its a fish! The HDi comes with all of the added extras of the GTi such as bodykit, alloys, interior, creature comforts but lacks the out and out grunt of the powerful GTi. Instead you have one of the grumbly, if excellently designed Diesel powerplants that are one of Peugeot's strong points. The 206 Touch: another "Sacré Numéro" ?

...Driving a 206 could be an unexciting experiment -there's so much on the roads-, but what a car it is ! Launched in '98, it's not one of the most sold cars in Europe for nothing ! I've owned myself a 206 1.4 XT for one year and half: it's a second hand car which belonged to my parents, they bought it new in September 2000. At that day, it has nearly 70,000 km, and I'm very satisfied of it. PEUGEOT 206 1.4 - The Dark Secrets...

Advantages: Good-looking, good flexibility of back seats, user friendly dashboard.

...PEUGEOT 206 1.4 FEVER 3dr PETROL (REG '04) I was so surprised to see that on my first visit to the Peugeot section of Ciao, the reputation of the Peugeot 206 is so high. Maybe I'm the one unlucky owner of one, or maybe Peugeot have assigned their employees aliases with which to trail the web and sing the car's praises. I'm not going to slate the car, just describe my observations of the vehicle from my experience, so that hopefully, you would reconsider if you like. I bought mine in June '04 from a Warwick Wright Dealership in London, with only 12.1 miles on the clock. New enough, so I was happy, as every car has test miles. Peugeot 206 Look (AC) 3DR

Advantages: Nice looking Car - very nippy!
Disadvantages: Awful, awful, awful - would never buy again!

...I wanted a 206 after having two Peugeot 205s which were reliable and fantastic little runners - I thought the 206 would be the perfect upgrade. I choose the Look - a special edition which gave extra features - Air Conditioning, metallic paint, CD player, dual airbags plus more. I also had ABS added on as an extra - which was a must for safety. It is a lovely looking car and when working is a fantastic and nippy drive - I loved it - until things went wrong! Day one - the indicator unit broke - apparently a common fault. First month - leak in passengers footwell - more like a flood - again a common fault. Leak in passengers foot well and under back seats - windscreen resealed. Intermittent electrical faults - hard to prove - but the believed me eventually - faulty interior lights and headlights not turning on/off. Coil...

...I am a student who bought a brand new 2003 1.4 206 LX 3-door last year. So far I have put 10,000 miles on it and not had a single problem. It is extremely cheap to run, a full tank costs £35-£40 and will give you roughly 400 miles. It is very light, which is an advantage in terms of speed off the mark, which you may need to get you out of tricky situations. Unfortunately the disadvantage of a light car is that ?little bumps? cause a great deal of damage to the body work, as one of my friends discovered recently. The lightness is also noticed when you go at speeds over 85 mph (I know you shouldn?t!) when the car becomes hard to handle.
