If you've bought computer peripherals before, you will probably be familiar with Belkin, who are particularly well-known for their USB products. Nothing else is a patch on these

Advantages: Easy to use, very effective
Disadvantages: Do pull your skin off if you're not careful

...on since I started using the patches, I'm still using them and they are still working brilliantly. I've had several more cold sores in the meantime but my son remains coldsore free. Also, since writing my original review I have managed to detect and treat a coldsore at the 'tingly' stage, and only had to use one patch as it stopped the coldsore dead in it's tracks! I've also found that the patch is less prone to being disturbed by eating and drinking if the coldsore is on your lower lip....

...seen "compeed coldsore patches" advertised on telly. They claimed to make the coldsore look non-existant and you couldn't even tell you had the patch on. At the time i did not see the point on buying the compeed as i did not have a coldsore. Guess what decided to pop up on my face the night before my year 11 prom! Yes, thats right a COLDSORE!! It could honestly have not come at a more better timing (not). I remember sitting in my living room just wanting to cry, it was my prom and i wanted to look stunning, how was i going to look like that with a big hideous lump on my face! That's when the compeed came to rescue me. I got my parents to go and buy me a pack the night before prom, but no where sold them!!!! Asda, local chemists, the nearest boots all did not have any. It scores over geocities in that the address yourname.20m.com is much more memorable than geocities.com/yourname. Advantages: Beautifully acted and with a good mix of comedy and tragedy

Patch or Hunter Adams (Robin Williams) is a man who commits himself when feeling suicidal and discovers that he can help people by making them laugh. Upon his release, he enrols for medical school where he quickly becomes frustrated at the lack of contact with the patients. There is a great scene where he humanises a patient wonderfully by asking the doctor the patients name. The doctor is unsure but Patch's message that patients are people and not just cases resonates strongly. ...I've been using Compeed patches for my cold sore outbreaks for the last year or so now. I'd concur with some of the other accounts in that they can be a bit difficult to apply, and if you're unlucky enough to get cold sores close to the inside of your lips then they're next to useless since they come away easily due to the moisture. I'm quite "lucky" in that my cold sores are generally far enough away from the inside of my mouth to not have this problem (when they are I switch back to Zovirax) and so in these circumstances I can give the patches a big thumbs up. Outbreaks are now fixed in a couple of days as the scabs never form, if I get them on a Tuesday (like today!) then I'm sure I can stop wearing them by the weekend (although the skin remains a little tender for a while).
