XIMETA NetDisk NDU10-250 250 GB
Review of XIMETA NetDisk NDU10-250 250 GB by
matt_fantastic
Advantages: Super simple data/File sharing across a home network
Disadvantages: Can't really think of any, that's why I bought another one !
..., Width 4.7 in / 119.5mm, Weight 3 lbs / 1.36 kg)
I now can confirm that it's also possible to add multiple NetDisk's to your network - up to a total disk space of 1.6 terabytes (!) - and I've not noticed any change in the access speed with 2 devices connected to the network. There's also software included for "asynchronous mirroring" (RAID1) for data protection that continuously creates and saves a copy of data in real time onto a second NetDisk whenever data is written to the first NetDisk ! Alternatively "aggregation" allows two NetDisk units to be recognized as one large drive. I have to admit that I've not yet tried this now I have 2 NetDisk's, but will let you know if I do. Watch this space...
Overall, this is another great item and a very valuable component of my home network, especialy with a massive 250GB of storage space...

250GB Black Box for your PC
Review of Western Digital My Book Essential Edition WDG1U2500 250 GB by
internetpig
Advantages: Very Stylish, Great Value, and Quiet. A USB hard drive for backups or storage
Disadvantages: A Little on the large side and another mains cable.
...I bought one of these boxes to back up my laptop and paid £80 ish. It did exactly what the advertising said. Just plug in the power cable and connect using the USB cable to your computer and you have an additional drive with a 250gb capacity. Fantastic.
The high speed USB performed exceptionally when backing up my Laptop with a total backup (using ntbackup) completing in a fraction of the time taken when using a network drive.
I then moved on to use this drive to transfer some static data from a old file server which this drive makes redundant.
I am now looking at the DVD's that I use on a regular basis, and considering releasing even more deskspace.
In the box I got the drive, Power adaptor and mains cable (both 3 pin and 2 pin), USB cable (2m) and a few bits of paper. Setup, as described was a breeze. All Windows machines...

Iomega HDD External Hard Drive 250 GB
Review of Iomega HDD External Hard Drive 250 GB by
Bunchan
Advantages: 250GB capacity, 2 firewire port, 1 usb ports
Disadvantages: alittle bit expensive
...Hello again and welcome to Chan's new toys!
Just had a box delieverd to my home 2 weeks ago which i hadn't ordered, someone at work had given me new hardware to help with a task I've got to do. How well people know me, give me new harware to play with and i'll do any work they want!
Anyway, opening up my jiffy bag I find a box with Media Centre writen in big black letters. MY first thought is what on earth is a media centre??? The box seemed a bit small for a TV and DVD player, let alone surround sound, so i decided that putting on my glasses so i could focus on the box was probably a good idea. It turns out a media centre is a rather large USB and firewire hard drive, with a few extras thrown in to make it look special.
What you get is a 250Gb drive, 2 firewire ports, 1 usb port to go to your machine and 2 usb ports to connect...

Review of Sandisk Sansa E 250 2GB by
Cup-Of-Tea
Advantages: Easy To Use And Affordable
Disadvantages: None
...San Disk Sansa E 250 2GB
This San Disk Sansa is a great affordable mp3 player. I have had many mp3 players and this is well worth buying. I paid about £55 pounds for my San Disk Sansa mp3 player and it was worth every penny. There are many features to this mp3 player and it's very easy to use. San Disk really is a great make and they know how to make great affordable mp3 players. Their range of mp3 players are very popular but I must say that this one is without a doubt the best. The sound quality is very high and with 2GB of memory you can't go wrong. This San Disk mp3 player supports mp3, wav and wma audio format. On the San Disk mp3 player you can even store photos which can be viewed at any time. This mp3 player is great for outdoor use due to its small design. I have never had any problems with my won of these mp3 players...

250GB Beast!
Review of Western Digital Scorpio WD2500BEVE 250 GB by
buckyohare
Advantages: 250GB of internal memory!! At a reasonable price, too!
Disadvantages: No major disadvantages. Not as quiet as I believed it would be.
...I purchased this drive as an upgrade of my Acer Aspire laptop's 60GB 2.5" internal hard drive, and so far I have been delighted with it!
The reason I chose this drive in particular, was due to the fact that it is an ATA drive (not SATA). ATA is the older drive technology, and as my Acer laptop is a few years old, it unfortunately does not support the more recent (and higher capacity) SATA internal drives. SATA drives are far more widespread now and are a bit easier and cheaper to find than the older ATA drives, but if you have an older laptop model, you will probably have to buy an ATA drive such as this one.
After searching high and low, this 250GB drive from Western Digital was the highest capacity ATA internal drive I could find at a reasonable price, and so far it has not let me down!
It took a bit of effort to clone my...

My Book 250Gb
Review of Western Digital My Book Essential Edition WDG1U2500 250 GB by
zakkman
Advantages: stying,price,reliability
Disadvantages: storage may not be enough for some people,FAT32 format from factory
...I suppose i bought this hard drive about a year ago. I chose it because it was reasonably priced,it had good capacity and it looked plain, simple but also stylish. I think i paid about £75 as i bought it on a trip to the states. I initially needed it to cope with my growing collection of MP3's that my 80Gb laptop drive was trying to deal with.
Upon getting it home ease of installation was simple. Its pretty much a case of unpacking it,plugging the power cable in,plugging the USB cable in and hey prestowindows automatically recognizes it and you've got an additional 250Gb of hard drive space.
The package comes with the hard drive, usb cable, power cable and a quick install guide although you dont really need it.
The drive comes with built in drive management which means it both turns on and off with your computer which is very...
