...Fairly decent hard-drive. Western Digital are a well trusted company, especially for computer equipment. 250GB is a massive storage device, you could store ALOT and with low power consumption makes it even better. Looking at the prices too this is a real bargin! I really recommend this hard-drive, the real-time data protection will help if your computer ever shuts off. It is also a 2.5-inch hard-drive which usually associates with laptops, however there are some desktop computers which could use this. If you did want to buy this for a desktop computer but your computer could only use 3.5-inch then you could buy an external hard-drive shell which could plug straight into your computer OR laptop through USB or Firewire. Overall I think this is a very nice hard-drive and a good bargin at the price it's avaliable for.... Read review

...Seagate have always made great hard drives and this is no excepetion it reads and writes fast. This drive is one in a new range of seagate drives that use perpendicular recording technology, meaning more space per platter. There is only one bad point to this drive and that is the noise you can here it read this may not be a problem for some but compared to the samsung hard drive I also have in my pc, the seagate makes the most noise (you cant hear the samsung). Good points for this drive include the price its pritty cheap for the price and amount of storage you get, being a seagate you get a nice long 5 year guarantee. ...ive owned this product for a number of years now and its great the only things lacking in my opinion are 1. hdmi output 2. even bigger hard drive ((mine now has)) ive upgarded my hard drive for a samsung 250gb one and so now its even better , my new samsung dvd recorder is now gone to the junk room minus its 250 gb hd, the menu syatem and burning screens are much better on panasonics than samsungs!! most dvd's ive used with this product have worked with exception to a few ! picture quality is good and great using component out sound quality is also good and better via the optical out !! if your looking for a dvd recorder that does the job well and that you will be pleased with then look no furrther unless you want hdmi output upscalling or a bigger hard drivem but then again you can always upgrade the hdd... Advantages: Flexibility, Smartsync Software

...Not sure whether i was going for a Freecom NAS Hardrive or one of these, so read up a bit and ended up going for the more flexible approach that is the Netgear SC101. It certainly didn't let me down. I plonked a 25gb seagate hardrive into it and ran the software on my laptop. plugged in the netgear sc101 into my wireless router and within 5mins my laptop had found the 250gb hardrive wireless and was now formatting. The installation was certainly straight forward. Couple of things worth noting i didn't get the full 250gb from the drive infact i only got 232gb. No sweat i happy with 232gb. You can assign an admin password so you don;t get anyone messing with your data and there is also an option of partitioning the drive and mapping the drives to as many drive letters as you wish. Advantages: Very Stylish, Great Value, and Quiet. A USB hard drive for backups or storage
Disadvantages: A Little on the large side and another mains cable.

...I bought one of these boxes to back up my laptop and paid £80 ish. It did exactly what the advertising said. Just plug in the power cable and connect using the USB cable to your computer and you have an additional drive with a 250gb capacity. Fantastic. The high speed USB performed exceptionally when backing up my Laptop with a total backup (using ntbackup) completing in a fraction of the time taken when using a network drive. I then moved on to use this drive to transfer some static data from a old file server which this drive makes redundant. I am now looking at the DVD's that I use on a regular basis, and considering releasing even more deskspace. In the box I got the drive, Power adaptor and mains cable (both 3 pin and 2 pin), USB cable (2m) and a few bits of paper. Setup, as described was a breeze. All Windows machines with USB... Advantages: Very fast, reliable and quiet... and Cheap!
Disadvantages: Absolutely nothing!

...that would give me years of happy use with no maintenance whatsoever, and so far all of my Maxtor disks have been this way. So I settled on the DiamondMax 10 in the 250GB size. It has a whopping 16MB (!!) cache, and a good 7200RPM spin speed. I do not have native Serial ATA on my motherboard, so I opted for the PATA version. I have never had a problem with the performance of PATA drives, so see no real reason to upgrade. When I got the drive it was already set to the correct jumper settings, making installation a doddle. I had made a Ghost image of the 80GB drives and transferred it to my laptop, so I just used the USB case from my 10GB drive to restore the image to the new drive. It worked first time, and within 20 minutes of opening the box I was going about my business as usual. The speed bump was most noticeable gain from the upgrade... Read review
