Disgo 256 MB flash drive (memory stick)

Advantages: Lightweight, small, durable, pleasant on the eye
Disadvantages: Case can get small scratches on it

...I have personally purchased one of the flash drives as I am an IT student and i need to transfer a lot of data. First of all, these memory sticks are very lightweight and really small. It includes a split ring which is on the stick which can be attached to any keyring to prevent losing it. This specific flash drive has 256MB of memory space on it. This is quite a substantial amount if you are going to hold files, folders and small graphics on it. It is very fast at transferring files, there is hardly any need to wait around. It is nearly an instant transfer. I wouldn't recommend this flash drive for anyone that was going to use it for very large graphical files and to hold lots of music files. Music files are very large and this flash drive is likely to hold around 2-3 albums worth. That is what i have found from my own...

A Flashing Flash Drive

The flashdrive I have can hold 256MB of information. When plugged into the computer an LED (red in this case) will flash steadily to let you know that it's connected. This has the dual advantage of being a reminder to you not to leave it behind (so easy to do!). During data transfer the flash rate increases to give you a visible clue that data is being transferred. For non-techies this is a great help as you're not left wondering whether it's working. To transfer files you can use the now common "drag and drop" method from your computer desktop. You can also cut and paste if you find that easier. ...we'd had, we were understandably wary. Solution? I downloaded my anti-virus prog onto the memory stick and transferred it onto his PC before we even thought about connecting to the web. It literally took minutes to download and the same again to upload. Oh so simple and oh so convenient...not to mention oh so quick. As for technical specifications, I think the whole point of something like this is it's idiot-proof, you don't need to know your R's from your Lbows to use it...just plug it in and click. Perhaps the main one is the capacity. ---------CAPACITY-------- Unfortunatly the capactiy is only 256mb, and flash based drives go up to 2GB or perhaps even 4GB now. As this is only 256mb you can fit around 30 songs on it in normal quality 128kbps, but if you compress them you can get around 80 on there. I have to warn you though, compressed songs played back on this player sound terrible. You really notice the difference in quality. ----------USB 1.1---------- Unfortunatly. the player is USB 1.1, this means that its 40x slower than that of USB 2, so if you're transfering 256mb of data in one go, go away, make a cup of tea and come back, if you're lucky it might be done. ...this is a nice little mp3 player which has excellent sound quality. 256mb hold around 70 songs for me but you can also use it to hold documents so you can transfer them from computer to computer its quite wide when you put it in a usb socket you cant put anything in the socket next to it but it dose come with a small uysb extension cable to get around this. you really want front or side facing usb sockets to be able to easily plug this in. it not very durable once i had it plugged in and i knocked it with my knee and it bent the usb and the casing came undone luckily i staigtened the usb and with a bit of pressure it came back together and was working perfectly and my songs still there. features: mp3 player- great quality songs player holds upto 70 songs recording can record in greatquality for upto 36 secongs...

...a little white cap which when removed reveals the USB plug. You just plug it into a USB port and send to it whatever information you want (it usually comes up as a "Removable Disk" in your explorer). You know its working as a little light flashes on it during data transfer. Some flash drives require software installation but if you have Windows XP then this one doesn't which makes it quick and easy to use. The downside to this is that there is no security and if you lost the flash drive then anyone could access your documents. The one I have is the 256mb version but you can get them in all kinds of memory size (from 128mb to a wopping 4gb). I can't say how much the one I have cost as it was supplied by the company but from my research they appear to cost around £5 upwards depending on the memory size. They are readily available...

Advantages: Cheap. Reliable. Ideal size for word document backup.

First of all, what is this? Simply stated, it's a type of disk in the shape of a stick which plugs into any USB port on your computer. The difference between this and a floppy disk or CD is that it holds much more information than your old floppy (1.44mb) but less than a CD (700mb).
