Disadvantages: A bit expencive for an average system!

...I purchased the OCZ 2gb (2 x 1gb) Platinum ram when i revamped my PC. What a difference it makes! I have never been able to open so many applications, and switch between them so quickly. The installation was very quick. One complication though. Although the packet does not tell you, the ram runs at 2.2 volts, not 1.8 which computer are default set to. This is because the ram is designed for gaming, and so is more power hungry. If the voltage is not changed the ram will not run as quickly, and there will be no point buying the ram. To adjust the voltage is easy, just enter into the bios settings of the motherboard, buy clicking one of the F buttons while the computer loads up. Installing extra memory into your PC is the best way of increasing performance for very little money, if you are currently running 1GB and are on Windows XP you may want to stick unless you play demanding games. ...Unfortunately the link to the Corsair XMS2 DRAM 2GB PC2-6400 C4 only goes to this page. So here's where I'll write my review! I'm going to just go ahead and state it right at the beginning - this is some excellent memory. It's fast (800mhz), it has lower timings (4-4-4-12), it's reliable, and it's very cheap. You can pick the 2GB set of two modules up from £35 anywhere now, which is a phenomenally low price. That's really the hallmark of this product - low price, high quality. At the moment, unless you're running games in Windows Vista, there's really no need to have 4GB of memory; even the most demanding game you can run won't use more than 2GB RAM. ...well when i bought my new rig 5 months ago i spent a small fortune on the graphics card so started looking for some good priced and branded ram with good timings i stumbled upon the geil ram and it looked perfect i purchased the GeIL Value Dual Channel 2 GB DDR SDRAM kit and i now run itin my new box on an asus a8r-mvp motherboard with a 3.5 64 bit chip in it. my rig is mainly used for gaming hence the need for a good graphics card and good ram this ram has performed very well in both dual and single channel mode currently i am running it in dual channel mode and combined with the rest of the pc i can run battlefiled 2 at max settings with no lag and still achieve 90 fps overall for the money you cannot go wrong with this ram the heatsinks on it look good and do work well.... ...The Geil Ultra Series DDR2 2GB is a great piece of kit for any PC gamer. It works amazingly in my set up consisting of Asus P5B Motherboard, Corsair HX 520w Modular Power Supply,Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, BFG 8800 GTS 320MB, Geil 2GB Ultra PC2-6400 RAM, 320GB Samsung Spinpoint and the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. <WHAT YOU GET> A box, the RAM and a warning about Anti-Static. <INSTALLATION> Like most RAM the Geil Ultra Series is extremelly easy to install onto the motherboard simply align the pins and push down spreading the pressure evenly until the clips on either side pop in. When you first boot with this RAM in your system it will appear to be running at 5-5-5-15 timings to get it to run at 4-4-4-12 you will have to do a bit of tweaking in the BIOS if you want to know how just search for an Overclocking guide on google. ...There is a vast amount of DDR2 memory on the market at the moment. Most sets are brilliant value whatever area you are coming from. With 2GB being the standard now (4GB is useless unless you own a 64Bit version of Windows XP or Vista which is very unlikely) you can land some brilliant deals, even for less than £60. Of course if you are an enthusiast there is RAM especially made for you which can run at high frequencies and cope with increased heat loads. The OCZ Flex 2GB PC-9200 is one such set of RAM. If you don't know what "overclocking" or "watercooling" is in PC terms then this RAM is not for you. You have be able to tweak your system to be able to get the most out of this ram. Standard high-end DDR2 RAM will run at 1066mhz usually referred to as PC8500 speed. PC6400 speed runs at 800Mhz. Both of these are fine... Read review
