PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...

...3Com Card This card is a nice card but when it come to networking cads there is only two things that make a difference one being the speed, you only tend to find three types of network card all at various speeds ranging form 10 mbps then you get a 10/100 mbps and just recently you can now get hold of a 10/100/1000mbps cars that can use any of these three standards. The card in question will only run at either ten mega bits per second or one hundred mbps depending on you other hard ware so this is something to keep in mind when buying this card. If you are using a Rj45 Crossover network cable linking two machines directly and both cards will work a 10/100 then you will receive a speed of 100mbps but if the other card in the other machine is only running a 10mbps you will only get speed of 10mbps the speed of the slowest card...

Playstation 3 Great Product

Advantages: Useful, Multimedia Functions, Entertaining, Internet

...The PlayStation 3 is Sonys third generation of home consoles. After the stellar performance of the PlayStation 2 and launch of its two rivals the Wii and Xbox 360 the PS3 has a tough act to follow. MP3 dot com is excellent

Advantages: Excellent directory system, fast servers, preview system
Disadvantages: There are none!

...I found MP3.com about 3 months ago, since then I haven't stopped downloading MP3! They have an excellent directory system for different genres, and extensive charts in all aspects of music. My favorite feature is the ability to preview a song before you download it. You can stream each song through programs like realplayer with a 56k modem! There servers are usually good too. They also group MP3 by artists, so for example you found a song in one of the charts you liked the sound of, you can then click through to the page of the artist and look at all the other available MP3 for that artist. The layout is excellent, I just can't fault the site. Hope this has given you some good ideas, happy surfing and listening!...

To PS3 or not to PS3?

Advantages: An amazing machine, expandable, some great features
Disadvantages: Expensive (but for a reason), almost internet reliant, no browser security

...you're limited to a maximum filesize of 4Gb. For 99% of us this isn't a problem unless you've converted a HD/Bluray video to an AVI file in which case you'll need to knock it down to a lower resolution. The second problem is some operating systems, especially Vista, won't allow you to format in FAT32 any more. The solution to this is go to download.com or do a Google and download an application called CompuApps SwissKnife V3. This is a HD utility designed for Windows XP, but it works with Vista and does all sorts of weird and wonderful things. Use it to delete the partition on the external hard drive and ten format the external drive to FAT32 (just make sure you've backed it up before hand). Anyway, pretty much anything that doesn't require complicated drivers will work with the PS3 so it's 'expandable' and if in doubt give it a try...
