...Well it has been a little over 1 years since I have written a review for this site and the only reason I am writing this one is to try and prevent anyone from going through what I have Around 3 months ago I obtained an 18 month contract for 3's mobile broadband service. The reasoning being that I would get quick and easy access to the internet. How wrong I was however the service did not work properly from the very first day. I contacted 3 about this problem and was advised to leave it a couple more days just incase the connection had not been put through. So I waited, but still it did not work. So I was back onto 3 did several speed tests with them turned the computer off and on again unplug the modem and moved it to a different slot and generally wasted an hour of my life. They then said they would investigate the problem...

3 Mobile 'Broadband'

Advantages: The auto-install works well under both Vista and Linux
Disadvantages: The dongle, poor connection, relatively expensive

... Mobile vs Land Line Broadband I've been with 3 Mobile Broadband for about eight months now as my only available internet connection, and I have to say, it dissapoints on many levels. Firstly the package Considering mobile broadband costs more than a comparable landline/cable connection, you'd think you'd get what you pay for. Not so. For around £100 you get a 12 month max term, 2.7Mb connection, with 12gb of download capacity. Now that's 2.7Mb on a good day, with a good signal, and no loss of connection. When you consider that average HSDPA speeds are 1.8Mb and 3.6Mb you can see that you're not getting close to the max speed possible, never mind capable. If you decide to go for the faster 7.2Mb that Vodafone offer, be sure that you're actually going to be able to get close to that speed in your area, none of the providers...

Cowboys of the mobile phone world - 3

Advantages: Cheap initially
Disadvantages: Didnt want to help when things went wrong

...I hadn't the 3 mobile network a second thought until I met my partner. I use Virgin personally and am very happy with them considering I bought my phone almost 7 years ago and have never ever had a problem with it or the network coverage. I did consider switching to 3 a year ago when I discovered my partner and I could get very cheap calls to each other, that is until he started having problems with this phone. I forget the exact name and model of my partners phone but it's a clam shell design one made by Sony. He upgraded to this particular model a year into his contract and at first seemed very happy with it. After about 3 months though things started to go wrong, the phone would after being charged up for several hours suddenly lose all battery power and switch itself off after only a few minutes, once it happened during a call...

3 mobile broadband- dont bother

Advantages: you get the internet, sometimes.
Disadvantages: its an expensive, awful product.

...Right, bear with me, this is my first review. I got myself an 18 month contract with 3's mobile broadband purely as it came with a free laptop and the overall cost of the contract was about £70 more than the laptop retail price. Now i thought this sounded FANTASTIC as a 3 gig allowance and 500 texts a month isnt bad. I dont think i could have been more wrong. In the shop i arranged my contract i was given a coverage check. This turned out to show a fairly decent signal strength, as does the one check on 3's website. Im lucky to get 1 bar (out of 5) signal at best. the modem wont let you connect if your not within 3's range even if it shows signal on another mobile carrier. This can be extremely frustrating as the modem then likes to disconnect itself, which is a complete pain if your shopping or something simillar. Now...

3 Mobile contract and customer services

...Well what can I say... if your thinking of signing up with 3 mobile then in my opinion that is the worst move your about to make. Why ??? I hear you say. Ok I will share my experience with you and then you can decide for yourself wheather to join them or NOT !! ... 3 Mobile Broadband ZTE MF622 USB Modem.

Advantages: Use literally anywhere with a mobile phone signal. 98% coverage. Full On Regular Internet Access
Disadvantages: Running out of credit, unused bandwidth does not rollover

...I went and bought the ZTE MF622 USB Broadband modem after reading about it on the 3 website. What made me go out and buy it was the fact that existing 3pay customers got it for £70 instead of £99. Since buying it the price has dropped to 50%. So i presume that would be about £50 now. Obviously this is the best choice if you dont want a landline in order to enjoy the full benefit of broadband. It's just as good as wifi, as you can move about freely. No need to be near any phone line as the signal works the same as your mobile. As long as your within coverage of the mobile signal masts. Which are plentiful these days. I live in Crewe, Cheshire. Im apparently in the 3 turbo network area which is meant to give you a connection rate of about 3.6mbps. Which is pretty good going. ...I have been with Three mobile now for about 4 year. I have noticed that year on year the service has got better and better, as has the coverage. I am lucky enough to live in a 3G area so have access to their full range of services, over the last few months they have moved to the faster HSDPA standard and it really shows. I download quite a lot of music and an average song takes just 10-15 seconds. I find that generally 99% of calls I make are successful, with just the odd occasion where I will have to redial (sometimes goes straight through to the recipients answer phone). '3' mobile 'broadband' = SLOWER than dial-up!

Advantages: Easy to setup and use
Disadvantages: Simply the S L O W E S T system you will EVER use - AVOID!!

...I have been with 3 for my phone for over 3 years now and have few complants, other than the long delay before voicemail notifications come through. BUT Their 'mobile broadband' service is simple AWFUL! For £15/month you get a box containing a 'dongle' which you plug into a USB port on your PC. With a few minutes, the PC has recognised the new device and you are connected to 3 as your ISP and off you go - very simple, very easy, very quick. Unfortunately, that the ONLY thing about the service that IS quick! Though advertising as 'up to 3.6 Mbps' the ACTUAL service speed is NEVER above 1.3 Mbps and is USUALLY around 50-300kbps, meaning your 'broadband' service is little quicker than dial-up. 3 Me From This Madness Again...

Advantages: Pretty cheap for what you're getting.
Disadvantages: Need to have a 3G phone before you can use the SIM, tech support can be difficult

...Following my move to Nottingham, and a new fiancee and a new house I decided a new mobile contract would be in order since I'd had my previous one taken off me when I decided to bail out of the Northwest. The problem was I already had a phone (Sony Ericsson W595) that I actually liked so I decided to look for a SIM only deal. The one that caught my eye was a 3 £15 deal. For the deal I got 300 any network minutes, 3000 texts and 2000 3 to 3 minutes as well as free Skype.
