Campanile Hotel, Glasgow

Advantages: nice rooms
Disadvantages: nothing major

...After deciding to take a trip to Glasgow for a few days, my husband and I set out to find a good value hotel. After looking at the usual Travelodges and Premier Travel Inns, we came across the Campanile hotel which is like the French version of Travelodge. It was 52 pounds a night and had a secure car park, something which we found very good as parking in Glasgow tends to be quite expensive. Although the price was good we decided to shop around and managed to book 3 nights for 122 pounds on Expedia. The location of the hotel was very good as it was in the newly upgraded and developed area near the SECC and surrounding the hotel was luxury apartments, the new Clyde Arc bridge, the new STV and BBC Scotland studios and the SECC and Glasgow Science Centre. It was 20 minutes walking to the Kelvingrove Art Museum and the Transport...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none

...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from...

3 star hotel in the centre of Esbjerg, Denmark.

Advantages: Slap bang in the centre of Esbjerg, not made of Lego or bacon.
Disadvantages: Old and it shows.

...If you want a decent place to stay in the centre of town, this is probably going to be the cheapest option. Clean and cosy rooms, friendly staff, breakfast included and within crawling distance of most of the town's watering holes. Local Info: If you take the ferry to Denmark from the UK, Esbjerg is the town you end up in. The centre of the town is a pedestrianised shopping street, and at its heart is a wide open square flanked by pavement cafes. If anything is happening in Esbjerg this is where it will be, and the Hotel Ansgar is just round the corner. Some distances: About a ten-minute walk to the ferry terminals for the UK and for Fano, a small island just off the coast which is well worth a visit. 5 minutes the other way takes you to the train and bus station. Esbjerg airport is out of town, 10-15mins by taxi. The tourist...

Great Value 3-Star Hotel

Advantages: Highly recommended 3-star Dublin hotel handy for the city centre
Disadvantages: Not a lot!

...Bewley's Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, is arguably the best value 3-star Dublin hotel within spitting distance of the city centre. At a set price of a mere Euro109 per room per night (due to increase to Euro119 from 1st April 2008) Bewley's Ballsbridge is extremely good value for money. The maximum number of guests per room is two. This means that for just under Euro60 per person you get a good standard 3-star hotel room, with all the usual 3-star amenities like an ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, TV, hair dryer, in-room safe, etc. An added bonus at Bewleys is that you also get free internet access (broadband) in all rooms and in all public areas using their wireless internet LAN. Family rooms are also available that will comfortably sleep two adults and three kids. (Kids are free...

FOUR STARS!

Advantages: Modern, clean and warm, ideally situated for various entertainments
Disadvantages: Hellish parking!

...My husband and I stayed here for one night whilst we enjoyed a day?s outing in Glasgow. The Novotel was easy to find, situated as it is at 181 Pitt Street, which is within walking distance of Sachiehall Street. Unfortunately, we were driving and driving in Glasgow is a challenge to be met only a few times your life. We were trapped in a one-way system with diversions in operation which didn?t really help with our quest to get to Pitt Street. On the sixth go round, we threw caution to the wind and did a quick U-turn when the street running across the end of Pitt Street (Scott Street) was quiet ? and nipped in. Parking: We had hoped to park our car in the hotel?s parking area (self-parking) but unfortunately they have limited spaces. We were ?lucky? enough to find a space right at the front of the hotel and were told we could...

Perfect Apartment in Glasgow City Centre

Advantages: Perfect location
Disadvantages: None

...We stayed at this 4-star apartment hotel on 19th of December 2008 for 1 night before we head to Isle of Bute for our friend?s wedding. We flew into Glasgow International Airport from London City Airport with British Airways. It took about 1 hour and 35 minutes get reach Glasgow. As soon as we reached Glasgow Airport, we went straight to the car rental desk to pick up our car. Once you come out of the arrival hall you will see several car rental companies right in front of you. The distance to the hotel from the Airport is about 11miles and it should really take about 20 minutes to reach the hotel. But we took over an hour to reach our hotel, because the weather was really bad and there was an accident on the road. Just be careful, there are a lot of one-way systems in the city centre, so if you get a turning wrong then it?ll take you...

Abode hotel glasgow.

Advantages: Fantastic hotel. Trendy. Perfect place to stay when you visit glasgow.
Disadvantages: NOT A THING.

...Well i must say what a wonderful hotel. Me and my girlfriend booked a night at Abode glasgow on new years eve and loved it so much we booked a second night in the morning just after we enjoyed the best breakfast we had for years. We both live in glasgow but wanted a nice hotel to go back to after enjoying the new year celebrations in george square. We just could not be botherd with the hasle getting home. It is bad enough getting a taxi on a normal saturday night, think what it would be like with ten thousand all trying to get a taxi at the one time. I loved the way the hotel has been decorated. It is very modern but they have kept alot of the old features. Including a very old life in the centre of the hotel, with a very modern water feature flowing right down the lift framework. I think it is fantastic that they have kept all...

Glasgow Thistle - Never again!

Advantages: Pleasant Staff
Disadvantages: Small rooms, dirty, run down, expensive and very limited menu.

...I have just spent eight weeks at the Glasgow Thistle Hotel. They were the worst eight weks of my life so far and it was all down to the hotel. On our first night at the hotel, our group arrived at about 1am in the morning after a flight delay. The night staff quickly and efficiently allocated us our rooms which were located on the first floor. As i got into my room, i was aware of a groaning noise coming from the window area. On looking out the window, i realised that our rooms were next to the hotels air conditioning units. I was so tired at this point that i did not request to be moved, as i was being picked up for my course at 8.30 am. the room was equipped with two single beds, which appeared slightly smaller than standard. I got into the first one only to realise that the matress was so old that i had sunk into the middle of it...

Handy, Well Located 3 Star Hotel

Advantages: Well located 3 Star budget hotel. Fairly cheap by Dublin standards.
Disadvantages: Not a lot!

...The Mespil Hotel is located on the Royal Canal on Mespil Road in Ballsbridge, only about 15 minutes walk from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street (the two main shopping areas of the city) and about 20 minutes from O'Connell Street and the Temple Bar area. In a previous incarnation the Mespil was a large office block that housed the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. The transformation to a hotel took place in the early 1990's, and has been achieved successfully. (I was dubious when I first heard of the proposal!) There's nothing special about the Mespil, but at in or around Euro100 per night, and with some special deals on offer if you book over the Internet, it would be a good, comfortable, 3 star hotel budget hotel for anyone either on a business trip or a short weekend break to Dublin. If you're planning a longer stay then...
