Simply Steam
Review of Kenwood FS450 3 Tier Food Steamer by
mizzameII
Advantages: Easy. Healthy. Quick. Great Results.
Disadvantages: Watch you dont scald yourself.
...at some other makes of steamer just so I could compare price, size and look. The KENWOOD FS450 won hands down not only on price but also on its look, size and obvious Kenwood reputation. For £30 other steamers were half the capacity and not quite so classy looking, anything as good as the FS450 was £50+ so the House of Fraser offer really was quite desirable.
So what does it look like? Slightly larger than the other steamers on offer this baby has 3 clear baskets nesting on top of each other over the electric base ‘steaming’ unit. The product is totally plastic with the controls being all electronic across the front of the unit. Fully built the unit is around 1 foot high. The steamer also comes with it’s own rice bowl ideal for cooking up to 12oz rice. Storage is easy as the baskets can be stored easily within each other so my...

Two Tier Cookworks Steamer
Review of Cookworks Steamer by
sameira
Advantages: As Good as the expensive ones
Disadvantages: blocking the holes causes uneven steaming
...i think this steamer is good all round and does the job as good as an expensive one.
but i have to say if you put more vegatables then the manual recommends then it does take a little longer to cook.
another thing i noticed was that if you block all the pores from of the bottom container then the steam is not disterbuted equally. in fact very little steam the top container if you have the other container on top!
so my advice is not just this, i assume it with the all steamers make sure that at least 3-4 holes at the bottom of the container are not bloced by the food you put in it!
the mannual says not to add flavouring to the (e.g) vegatables/meats or it could effect the performance of the cooking.
i ignored this and still marinated the boneless bitesize chicken. the only thing i noticed was that in the drip tray the fat...

Cookworks Silver 3 Bowl Steamer
Review of Cookworks 3 BOWL Steamer by
sallyspud
Advantages: steams veggies, healthy, very cheap. Easy to refill with water mid use.
Disadvantages: longer cook times than guidelines, beware of heat at end of cooking
...Readers to my Health Grill review will know im having my kitchen done at the moment, so Ive been trying to get ways of cooking our dinners healthily & easily & not having to use microwave meals all the time.
Well I decided a steamer may be of use after cooking my veggies in the microwave one at a time, the first being cold when the last was done, nothing several microwaves would have sorted!
I only wanted something cheap, as im not sure how much it will be used when the kitchen is finished. So I browsed through Argos & found the Cookworks 3 bowl steamer in silver at only £12.99. Nowhere on this is a model number, not even on the instructions, but thats the title of the product.
The picture at the bottom represents my model.
It has 3 big bowls & a unit at the bottom with the controls to generate the steam from water you put...

Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer
Review of Tefal Steam Cuisine 1000 Turbo Diffusion Steamer by
Martinscholes
Advantages: Great idea saves time
Disadvantages: None
...areas of houses, apartments and flats apparently laughingly described as 'kitchens' of considerable importance.
The steamer consists of a base unit (complete with controls) and three tiers above it. It comes complete with 3 steam baskets (though you can use two if required) a removable base which has an integrated egg holder, a rice bowl, a juice collector and a water inlet.
It also has a feature called a "removable turbo ring scale remover." My wife says: "This is a great idea. It really helps by getting rid of the limescale and stops it building up on the element. This is absolutely brilliant as it helps protect the element and ensures that no energy is not wasted, nor cooking time increased by limescale build-up."
An advantage of the Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer is that has an electronic timer and the version we have comes...

Steam with no pressure
Review of Prima PRS005 3 Tier Food Steamer by
MAllen400
Advantages: The taste
Disadvantages: none
...the food.
Then you have three steam trays and two tray dividers.
You will find holes in the bottom of the steam trays to let the steam go up the trays that you use to the top one.
You put the food in the tray, place a divider on and then place another tray and so on till done the 3. The top tray will have a lid on it.
You can use just the one tray or three depending on how much you want to steam.
When placing the vegetables in the trays I always make sure that somewhere the holes can be seen an no food placed there as this does tend to get the steam through to the top tray just that bit quicker.
The food tastes great all the goodness is locked in and yes better than done in a pressure cooker.
There are a few dos and donts with a steamer.
Dont add wine, stock or any other liquid as all the food will taste the same...

Things are getting steamy
Review of Cookworks Food Steamer by
pink_champagne
Advantages: very cheap, healthier meals
Disadvantages: doesn't stack away for storage, no water guage
...Last June I moved into a new flat. At that point I didn’t have a cooker, just a microwave and a George Foreman grill, and to be honest couldn’t afford a proper cooker at that point, what with everything else I had to buy. So what I decided, was to buy an electric steamer, so I could cook vegetables and rice, as well as everything else that could not be microwaved or grilled.
I went to ASDA and purchased a Pacific 3 tier steamer for the reasonable price of £12.99 - now before you click ‘Off Topic’, I know I’m reviewing a Cookworks steamer, just bear with me and the point will become clear (I hope!) Anyway, so there’s me, in my new flat, cooking with my Pacific steamer almost every night for 3 weeks, until that is, it broke. Basically boiled dry. I didn’t realise the water level had gone down to zero, therefore knackering the element bit...

Not so Smart Steamer
Review of Rosemary Conley Energi Digital Steamer by
Anabel
Advantages: Steamed food is healthy

HOW TO USE IT
Put the steamer on a stable surface away from cupboards or other objects that can be damaged by the steam.
Pour at least a jug full of pure water into the water basin (the base). Do not put any oil or seasonings into the water basin!
Place the drip tray over the water basin. In the middle of the drip tray there is a round hole with a kind of mesh disc suspended in it. This is the Flavour Scenter Screen. If you want to you can put herbs...

A Steamy Night In!!!
Review of Tesco 3TS04 by
newby2
Advantages: Great buy
Disadvantages: none at all
...used and to keep it separate from the clean fresh water that is to be used.
The clear plastic trays come in 3 different sizes so that they can be stacked on top of one another easily but you are still able to use each tray singularly or within a stack. There are lots of little holes in each of these steamer trays and this is to allow the steam to pass through and fill up each tray giving the vegetables there steam cooking. The lids are exceptionally easy to clean and really just need a swish round and no scrubbing is ever needed. The plastic lid although designed to fit perfectly on top of the 3rd tier of the steamer can fit easily on to any of the other different sized trays giving the ability to use with just the one tray. The trays are also easy to pick up as they have small handles at each side.
The main part of the steamer...

Good Value steamer
Review of Tefal 6161.15 by
kitty1801
Advantages: Healthy, can see food cooking, eaysy to use
Disadvantages: cleaning it and burning yourself on steam
.... Saying that, if you fill the water container up completely before you start cooking it will normally last you until the food is cooked.
I would say that if you can get this steamer for £10-£15 it is a bargain. I have had mine for 3 years now and had no problems with it's operation at all. Just remember to wash or soak the tiers as soon as you are finished....

The Tobi Steamer
Review of Tobi Steamer by
Maxlarndison
Advantages: Read review
Disadvantages: Read Review
...wrinkles just like the Dry Cleaners and the Fashion Industry.
3. Removes wrinkles on contact.
4. Removes Odours.
5. No burning or scorching.
6. Kills dust mites.
~ Assembly ~
I found it quite easy to but together and the instructions were very easy to follow.
Extend the 3 poles that came with it and insert into base unit and tighten. It has a nozzle holder at the top of the poles so you can place it here when you are not using it; this is where you place you clothes on hangers as well.
Attach the hose to the portable unit and then attach the nozzle to the other end of the hose.
It also comes with an upholstery attachment and a pet hair remover nozzle.
To make it portable there is just a button to press this releases the potable unit and it comes out easily, and then use the shoulder strap to carry it around.
The base unit itself...
