The Dymo 400 saves me so much time, it is a good buy

Advantages: Prints quickly, easy to use, no ink, time saver
Disadvantages: A little expensive to run for some

...The Dymo Labelwriter has been available in various models for a long time now. Many grumble at the limited use, plus the fact that you can use only Dymo labels with the device. Well, whilst this is true, you should really look at this device as a great time saving device, rather than money saving. I picked up a Labelwriter 400 just recently. I had the next model up before, but sold it on for a very good price. Within a week of selling it, I wished I hadn't. Address and shipping labels vary in price and size, but the smaller address labels work out about 3p each. There is no ink or mess to worry about, as this is a thermal printer, so the printer makes the label react and reveal a fairly crisp 300dpi print. It is nice and fast and quiet in use. So, imagine the scenario, perhaps like me you sell on ebay. I might only sell one thing a day...

Review of DYMO LabelWriter 400

Quite a basic sanner

Advantages: Good softwae package
Disadvantages: Low DPI

...This is quite a slow scanner and the quality is not to good. It is 300 DPI which is fine for most things but if you want good quality copying then it may not be suffice. It is quite compact and is very quiet. The software package is quite impressive. It has a photo editing suite which is not brilliant but is good for a free program. It also has programs for photocopying, faxing and optical character reading (when it recognises writing) The program that controls all of these has stopped working on my computer though....

Review of Primax 4800 Direct

Not bad

Advantages: Little etter than my old one
Disadvantages: Not great

...I owned an old Umax Astra 600P scanner which seemed agonizing slow, though quality of the output seemed very good. I read about the Epson Perfection in PC magazine which gave it Editor's Choice award so I decided to give it a try since it was available at buy.com with a £20 off coupon. To my disappointment, it 's not much better than my old Umax scanner. Somewhat faster, but no better output on my HP 733c printer using premium photographic grade paper. Also, the accompanying software, Adobe PhotoDeluxe, would frequently crash the computer requiring a hard boot. (I'm using a new Dell 733 MHz computer and after using my own software the problem disappeared, so the problem was not the computer). Also, scanning at 1200 dpi takes FOREVER and the photo didn't look ANY better than at 300 dpi....

Review of Epson Perfection 1200S

Piss Poor (ie No) Training shows in the end

Advantages: Low price - 1 hour service
Disadvantages: Piss Poor quality - totally untrained staff

...I have used Tesco film processing services for a number of months now and sadly it is only now beginning to dawn on me that the quality of theservice is poor. I have noted that the scans they make are rather low in resolution at around 300dpi at 6" x 4". 10" x 8" would be better option as the majority of people still using film I would say are semi-professionals. The colour is a bit washed out often and occasionally I get nasty scratches on negs. When I asked a member of staff what resolution they were scanning at he replied "normal resolution". If I had been in a better mood I would have fallen over on the floor laughing but sadly I was in grmpy old man mode and had to tell him that that was a completley ridiculous answer. To make matters worse his thick old lady of an assistant pipes up - "Oh I thought it was whatever resolution you...

One of the best laser printers

Advantages: Very Fast, Good Print Quality, toner lasts for ages
Disadvantages: A bit big

...This Is the Printer to buy if you can find one, they last for ever, i have had mine for nearly 7 years and print daily and have never even bought a toner for it, it has lasted longer than many other laser printers i have seen or used and it is very fast, it has a resolution of 300 dpi which might not sound much but for a laser printer its more than enough i can tell the diffrence between a page printed on my laser and one printed on a Epson EPL 550, which is 600 dpi. You can buy a printer like mine for around 40.00 and its worth every penny, all my freinds own one....

Trust 9630 easy scan

Advantages: Very Fast, Has Good quality output
Disadvantages: Can be slow if machine isent high spec and need lots of memory

...A scanner I have owned for some time is now getting a review. The scanner is a parallel port model with a port on the back of the scanner to connect the printer. The Software that comes with the scanner is very easy to set up and has a lot of features. The best scan mode with this scanner is 300x300 dpi, even though it will scan over 9600 dpi. The scanner is single pass but if you havent got a big machine with anough memory then you will find it can be a bit slow. The output of the scanner is very good, but it wont scan fluorecent colours and some of the browns come out a bit wrong but that might be my setup....

...I bought the HP deskjet printer about 2 years ago now from pc world. It cost me about £79.99, which isn't too expensive. It's probably even cheaper now though. It's a good printer but quite bulky, so you do need space to put your printer. It's very easy to use. The paper tray is at the front which sticks out. There are two buttons on the front too, one is the on/off button and the other one is the paper feed button. Priniting text is really good and clear, but printing photo's isn't as good. So its not recommended buying this printer if you want to print a lot of photo's off. The colour print resolution is 300 dpi by 300 dpi, which isn't brilliant now a days. The ink cartridges are very expensive. The balnk ink cartridge is £25 and the colour ink cartridge is £20. You need to look around really to find them cheaper. I found...

Primax 4800, an old friend

Advantages: Reliable, built to last.
Disadvantages: Noisy, slow, low resolution, Windows 3.1 and 95 only.

...Made "back in the day" when the migration of PC's out of the office and into the home was gathering speed, this rather large cumbersome scanner was one of the first flat bed models available to the home user, and bucked the trend for the handheld models that were available at the time. Built for using with windows 3.1 and 95, this scanner is now almost redundant due to the lack of compatibility with future operating systems. The scanner itself was supplied with the drivers and image acquisition software (photosuite 95) needed to scan in black and white and colour up to at an optimum of 300 dpi. Connection to the PC was via a serial port, but, the scanner also allows the user to connect a printer in series in order to for it to act like a photocopier. However, the one-touch copy facility never actually worked on my model...
