Widescreen dream
Review of Philips 32PF9641D by
watkins11
Advantages: Brilliant picture, top quality
Disadvantages: None really, could be cheaper I suppose!
...more to get good quality. After a few more hours searching we chose the Philips 32PF9641D.
Product info
Resolution 1366 x 768p (not the best, but good for the price bracket)
Freeview built in
HD Ready
USB connection
Virtual Dolby Digital (for 'true life' sound)
Ambilight ('mood' lighting!)
This is not an exhaustive list, mainly just the information we could understand! Full information can be found on the website listed below.
Price
We bought this over a year ago now for £1400, which was a packaged deal including a glass & chrome stand, a 7" portable plasma T.V. and a Phillips DVD player with surround sound.
Looks
Yep, very superficial, but it has to look right! We much preferred the glossy black finish of the Philips to any others in our price range. Many of them looked larger...

Great value TV with mid-high end features
Review of Philips 32PF7531D by
j_f_ong
Advantages: Great Standard and high definition picture, attractive design
Disadvantages: Sound is good but not great
...smooth edges and deeper blacks than are found in standard definition. I will say that many LCD TVs I have seen with HD content running on them are really impressive. The model below this (the 32pf55 series) looked sharper than the more heralded Toshiba 32wlt66 when both playing BBC HD and viewed in a showroom. I did not change the settings so the Toshiab could possibly be tweaked to give more detail but, in my opinion, all the Philips screens I have seen offer more added detials likes wrinkles on faces and creases in shirts. The faces on the Toshiba looked a little bland in comparison. It is hard to compare the 32pf7531 against these two becuase I do not have them side by side but the added pixel plus feature does add something to the depth of field while detail is still superb in HD eventhough pixel plus only works on the standard defintiion...

A great TV that will also brighten up your room
Review of Philips 32 PF 9986 by
SeaMouse76
Advantages: Very stylish; excellent picture quality; motorised stand
Disadvantages: Doesn't overcome all of the issues with LCD technology; not 1080p
...I bought my Philips 32 PF 9986 back in March in anticipation of the launch of the Playstation 3 and high-definition digital TV. Alas, with no high-def TV yet available from my cable company and no PS3 until March 2007, I have yet to use my TV for it's intended purpose! However, in terms of standard-definition TV and DVD viewing, this TV has proved very competant for the most part.
Picture quality: colours are very bright, vivid and accurate, and remain so even when viewing the screen from a relatively tight angle. The image does begin to turn grey and flat when viewing from very tight angles, but it is possible to overcome this to an extent by rotating the TV on its stand. This can be done using the remote control, which is a surprisingly useful feature. A slight annoyance is that the motorised stand can be quite unresponsive...
