The OfficeConnect has all the usual features one would expect from a mid-range wifi ADSL router - Quality of Service (for using Skype etc), Good built-in firewall for example. My favorite features of the OfficeConnect are: The ability to switch the wireless on/off seperately, the lifetime warranty, wall mountable bracket, very easy instalation/setup and it's good performance record. The only two negatives for me are: There's no way to add your own antenna to the router and the fact that you can't limit the traffic for WiFi or local use. ...This was the first purchase of its kind on my part so I have no other similar routers to compare it to, except the ADSL modem which is supplied with my tiscali broadband. The router unit was originally, purchased to allow us to share the internet connection throughout the household, it has never ceased to impress me. I sure this is exactly what happens with everyone, we take the product out of the box, and the static bags and what have you, and immediately our intuition kicks in and we start plugging in cables. ...Well, certainly a very interesting product - it incorporates an inbuilt ADSL modem with wireless access point - perfect for home use. Size: The size of this access point really shocked me - it was hardly even the size of a video cassette! On the back it has two fully adjustable antennae that can be moved depending on your selected location. All of the ports are hidden on the back of the unit, and on the front are 8 unimposing lights - 4 for status, and the other 4 for LAN connection status. The unit itself is white, with a small 3com logo on the side. It is, all in all, a fairly attractive thing. Manual/Support: The manual comes folded up, and expands out into a huge piece of paper, with about 6 steps. We placed an order from ebuyer for a 3COM Office Connect ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router, with a 3COM Office Connect Wireless 11g PC Card. The cards on their own cost around £34 if you search the net. Advantages: Ability to save configuration so it is easy to setup other 3COM wireless devices conneting to this one
Disadvantages: Config save only works with 3COM devices. Required firmware update to work with my Modem

...is easy to set up but you need to transfer the key to your other wireless devices to get them to work. Fortunately 3Com have made this easy if you are using other 3Com devices as you can save the keys and load them in to your other 3Com devices. The web based control interface is reasonable and there is a wizard to take you through the initial set up. The rest is up to you and it really is not a gentle experience. There are Help screens to explain things but the options are not presented in the most useful order for the average home or small business which I guess is the market. In all it was easy to set up, but does require some determination to set up the security correctly. My wife, who uses it most, has not noticed any down side since she went wireless. This is the best measure of success for any network device.... Read review

...Not much to say about this really. I bought this for a pound (!) on Ebay to connect to my router giving me 4 more ethernet ports to connect stuff to my network. That's all it does, gives you more connection; there's no firewall, DCHP, nothing, but then that's all in my router. Its 5 autosensing ports (Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX - RJ-45)automatically detect the speed of the attached device to maximize network performance - with a data transfer rate of up to 100 Mbps. It really was a "plug-and-play" installation with no configuration needed, it connected straight into my network - I didn't even ned to read the manual ! The auto-sensing feature means that you can plug the "in" cable into any socket - another 3Com switch I have has a specific "in" port. ...I recently bought one of these routers after my dlink blew up, I was told by a friend that buffalo made excellent wireless routers and he wasn't wrong, this router works brillantly. This router has wireless access, including 4 ports intergrated for any ethernet cable needs, its small and easy to place anywhere without it looking out of place, It has a 54mbps data transfer rate which is rather good for todays router standards, a 2.4ghz frequency band, which means it can be recieved over a good distance, but the distance can be changed using the easy browser setup. It has many data link protocols incluing Ethernet, Fast Ethernet. IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g. SETTING UP Setting up the unit is straightforward for a person with TCP/IP knowledge. I had some trouble setting up the WAN connection as I had no enough details on the type of ADSL connection provided and there are a number of choices in this area. I would have appreciated more information in the manual about the ins and outs of each type of connection. WIRELESS The router is advertised as a High-Speed 802.11g. The 802.11g standard indicates a maximum connection speed of 56Mb/s but the DI-624 has a capability to go up to 108Mb/s.
