...My wife spotted the Jag on a day trip to Manchester. It was for sale outside some flash offices and we had a look at it as the price - £7995 in May 2008 - was very tempting and well within our budget.
She fell in love with it right away. It is a 2.5 SE 4wd in metallic light blue and has the very light tan leather trim - absolutely gorgeous hardly does it justice !!!
The owner saw us looking at it and came out to talk to us. He was getting a Lexus the folowing Sunday so wanted shut asap.
He was a real gent - one of the old school - and so we arranged a test drive the following day as we both had no time to spare there and then.
It was superb to drive - I had borrowed a similar one some 6yrs ago and this one seemed even better.
2 owners from new, FSH and utterly, utterly immaculate. The only faults being a steering wheel wobble...

...Fraser Island is one of those "must do" things for backpackers when travelling the East Coast of Australia! It is the largest sand island in the world, home to wild dingos (wild dogs for those a little mystified!), can only be reached by boat from the mainland, has no sealed roads so is only attainable by 4WD vehicles and is covered in beautiful scenery.
I went on a day tour from Hervey Bay which is where most tours will leave from. I got picked up from right outside my hoste although they were about 15minutes late and I thought I had been forgotten for a little while there! A number of tour operators run these 1 ady tours and I looked into them and honestly believe they are all much of a muchness, all around $120 (50 quid) per day, all spending the same amount of time on the island and all visiting the same attractions!

Advantages: Nice little 4wd Disadvantages: expensive parts
...The Justy is a great car if you are in need of a small 4 wheel drive vehicle, as it is practically the only the only such model available. It is no longer produced unfortunately, but there are still a few of these about. In general you can pick them up pretty cheap because garages have trouble selling them (4wd is fairly niche).
The reliability is fairly high on the Justy, and it provides a suprising amount of power for the size of the engine (1.2)
Fuel consumption is not wonderful for the size of the vehicle, probably because of cost cutting by Subaru. I get 35 - 40 mpg from this vehicle.
Performance on snow and ice is very good, and I have used it to go off-road (although not seriously) in very wet and muddy conditions. If you wanted to really use it off-road the tires would need replacing with something wider.

The only indication when driving that this is anything other than a standard large hatchback is a discreet 4wd button the dashboard. Personally, I have not actually had the courage to push this, for fear of charging off the road, so cannot comment how it actually performs. Powered steering is standard, the brakes feel positive and the car is easy to drive. However parking is another matter. The height is no problem but the long wheelbase (which give the comfort on a run) requires accurate handling. Unfortunately parking sensors are not fitted as standard and the car could really do with these, since bits of it completely disappear from view in restricted spaces. I'm told this is one advantage of a wheel mounted on the back door, (unlike the Hyundai design), since you simply back up until...

...The car being reviewed is the Nissan X-trail, Sports expedition model which includes a list of extras a: Satnav, rear view parking camera, climate control aircon, and a switch for the transmission, which allows the driver to choose between 4WD, 2WD, or 4WD with lock differential. The X-trail will also automatically switch between 2WD and 4WD when it detects a wheel slipping. Plus the added easy to open glass sunroof, made the car feel even more spacious.
The Nissan X-trail is the real deal, when it comes to an off-roader. In my view its strong, its tough, capable enough to clamber over rocks, and go splashing through mud. All of which is helped by the X-trail's generous ground clearance, all-condition tyres and well-protected undersides. Plus it's punchy 2 litre, 173 hp turbodiesel engine, offers ample power to go anywhere...

...I've just completed a 15 day tour of the Kimberleys by 4WD coach, and would like to share my experience with Ciao readers.
During the two weeks, I had a marvellous time, and it was not without its share of adventurous moments. If you visit the Kimberley region, be prepared to be taken aback by incredible scenery, curious crocs and searing heat. But you will never be bored.
My holiday started from Broome - relaxed and tropical, magnificent beaches, and a great place for buying cultured pearls - prices range from around $A50 for a single pearl, to many thousands of dollars for selected necklaces and pendants.
But there is more to the Kimberleys than just Broome. in this untamed frontier of outback Australia, you can explore a total of seven National Parks. Here's my brief impressions of some of the highlights.

...glad of having as I got into an accident 2 weeks after driving it but my car was totally scratchless, the other party however a Proton was quite badly damaged compared to mine with its bumper dented and one of the headlights broken. Only such designed cars are still matching with kangaroo bars, new models and designs of other 4WD will look horrible with kangaroo bars...
I\'m very pleased with the current condition of the car as it didn\'t give me problem till now. All I did was just regular service once a year to maintain and check the car condition. The car has very smooth acceleration and the engine is still very quiet till now.
Was quite unused to the space in the car at the beginning as the seats have much smaller space compared to other 4WD such as Honda CRV or Nissan Extrail. But I slowly got used to the solid feel the car...
