In my Opinion a Good Quality and Great Value basic running machine
I was looking for a cheap piece of home fitness equipment, I decided on a treadmill but needed something to fit my budget and my expectations in terms of quality and durability. My research led me to the Weslo M5 - made by Icon in the States who have a good reputation in the fitness industry for quality which was a an important factor for me in terms of getting value for money.
In m opinion, the Weslo M5 is by no means a cheaply built treadmill, it's a solid, neat, reliable machine and folds away without being too big and bulky, and at around 65kg it's not as heavy as some.
Its a good looking compact, starter running machine and would probably suit most people up to around 18 stone. The machine itself has all the basic features, nothing...

Tyres are expensive, but go buy a set of General AT2's for it, yes they will set you back over £700 for the 5, but they will last 70,000 miles. Makes it a bit more palettable compared to 20,000 miles for the Pirelli's.
The other advantage mine has, is the 7 seats.Saves taking 2 cars at times, who say's they can't save you money? Kids love the rear most seats, especially if you have the extra radio points in the back.
Over all, if you have a use for this type of vehicle, then you could do a lot worse than the Discovery. Jap stuff breaks down too, and the cost of parts is no where near theirs. I think it's a fantastic vehicle, a true all rounder....

...If you have the money to spare and are looking for a car that has Looks - Style - Comfort - Reliability and a real name that's had a good following over the years, I would highly recommend the Land rover Discovery.
The biggest asset at the moment is that the price throughout the range has been reduced dramatically due to the recent changes in importation and dealership, and if you shop around you really can pick up an excellent deal, Even Secondhand.
With the TD5 ( Turbo Diesel ), you get real quality even with the earlier models. The only drawback with the earlier ones is that the ride tends to be a bit bumpy, but having said that the early models are more economical to run in general averaging 30 - 35 MPG.
The more recent models ( I.E 1997 Onward ) usually run at around 25 - 30 MPG, But obviously they are much more luxurious...
Advantages: Excellent traction, driving good, bullet-proof, good residual values Disadvantages: Heavy in town, fuel consumption, minor niggles
...My Land Rover Discovery 2.5 TD5 GS is the 5-seat model, first registered in December 1999. It was bought in June 2000 for £20,000, having cost approximately £27,500 new. It had nearly 5000 miles on the clock. Bodywork was and is immaculate and the previous owner (a rural chemist) buys a new one quite frequently (every 6 months!). This car had also had lamp protectors and fog lamps fitted over the standard spec, with floor mats and mudflaps also fitted. The point at which bought it was just after the start of the drop in new and used prices and appeared to be priced to keep cash flow going as it has only depreciated by £2000 over 1 year.

...Hmm, 5 things doesn't really seem like enough. Not that I'm an 'utter nutter' but we all have perculiar little quirks that seem to amount to an endless list of strange habits. Here's a few of the things that make me, er, well DIFFERENT
1. Shelf shopping
- What, you may ask, is shelf shopping? Well, I think it's a phrase I've just coined actually (strange and smart ah?). Basically, I have a habit of going into loads of different shops, looking round and walking out again without buying a thing. I sometimes feel a bit embarassed. I tend to do it a lot in Netto actually (Of all the places I know), but they do weekly deals so I'm in and out of there all the time, checking what items are reduced, having a browse, deciding in the morning to go there and get a particular item then procrastinate when I get in the shop and decide not to get...

...I have owned a Discovery 2.5TDi from new since 2003 and consider now that I have enough experience to comment fairly on it.
Good points
1. Excellent work horse. Can tow all day without noticing the load
2. Very comfortable and excellent seat movement
3. Makes you feel safe and secure
Bad points
1. Very poorly designed dashboard layout. Most displays hidden by the steering wheel
2. Very badly positioned switches for electronic seat controls. You have to have needle thin hands and be a contortionist to use them
3. Poor electrics (especially the sun roof which has a mind of its own). and the worlds worst SAT Nav. You can buy a top of the range Garmin for less than the disc upgrade.
Despite this we love it warts and all....
