Pension Miami Hotel, Barcelona, Spain.
Advantages: Close to centre, clean room, great staff, near great shops, cheap and clean!
Disadvantages: no view, alley way smells, people pee in alley way, noisy.
...pm had a couple of prostitutes (one lady who sat there everynight on the window-ledge of the little cafe). She was far too old to be doing what she was doing so we said 'Ola!' to her everyday! She was friendly, but not always 'together' some of the time!
There are plenty of shops near the hotel that sell all you need (cheap litre bottles of vodka for 6 euro's!) The cafe (previously mentioned) is great for morning coffee and the staff are great!
Overall we loved Barcelona so much that I want to go over there and live and work. You will love it. Watch out for bag pinchers (saw 1 near the hotel and nearly 1 on the Ramblas). If there is anything you want to know about the hotel or Barcelona feel free to ask!...

Europark Hotel, Barcelona
Advantages: Great Location
Disadvantages: None
...The Location Of Europark Hotel
The Europark is a three star hotel in L'Eixample district on Arago. It is in a fantastic location very close to the Passeig de Gracia and a short walk to Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic (about fifteen minutes walk). The metro and trains get you anywhere you want to go in Barcelona and its only a five minute walk to the nearest station. The metro and trains are reasonably priced.
Metro is 1 euro per ride.
Train from airport to bottom of Arago was 6.50 euros each way.

Hotel 1898 - Barcelona
Advantages: Location, Location, Location
Disadvantages: Bar prices and breakfast
...Hotel 1898 ? Barcelona
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Hotel 1898 is a mid priced hotel situated on the main tourist strip Las Ramblas in Barcelona?s Gothic district. Built in the former building of the Philippines Tobacco Company it has been converted to a very high standard with all the facilities you?d expect from a modern city centre hotel while maintaining the character of the pre-existing architecture.
Part of the Nunez Navarro chain it is one of several hotels they have in Barcelona and like their other properties offers a high standard of accommodation geared towards the modern traveller.
Location~
Hotel 1898 is sited a couple of hundred yards south of Plaza Catalunya, the dropping off point for coaches from the airport and a hub for public transport and has entrances on Las Ramblas and Pintor Fortuny. The central location means...

Hotel Balmes - great hotel in a great spot of Barcelona!
Advantages: *Great location to Metro stations *Modern, clean and comfortable furnishings *Good staff
Disadvantages: *Pool is small *Expensive food and drinks in the hotel
...For those looking for a peaceful, laid-back and friendly hotel in the heart of Barcelona, this is the one. We arrived in the heat of a Summer's day, and were only too relieved to find our hotel foyer (and room) were eager to cool us down with their air con! The hotel immediately seemed worth more than it's 3 stars, with its marble foyer and art sculptures welcoming us in, as well as 2 friendly members of staff. They spoke a fair amount of English and were very keen to have someone take our bags up to our room which was much-needed on a hot day like that!
Our room wasn't huge, but still an ample size for just 2 people. There were 2 single beds, a lovely leather armchair, a wardrobe with shelving, a safe, a flatscreen TV with about 15 channels, bedside tables, good lighting, drawers, air conditioning with controls and an ensuite bathroom...

Praktik Rambla - New stylish hotel in the centre of Barcelona
Advantages: Fantastic design of the hotel, great location, great price, friendly staff, very clean hotel
Disadvantages: No minibar or tea/coffee making facilities, 'open-space' bathroom, TV loosing signal
...? buildings constructed by a modernist architect from Barcelona, Antonio Gaudi.
Less than 5 minutes from the hotel is Placa Catalunya ? one of the main train and metro stations, from where you can literally get anywhere inside and outside of Barcelona. Try to go to the beautiful beaches outside of the city in Mataro, Castelldefels or Sitges.
Hotel building
The building itself is historic and has its own unique character. Previously housing a hostel called Hostal Palacios, it was renovated and opened up just at the end of June 2009. So everything there is like new. The hotel has 21 rooms.
In the entrance to the reception you will be welcomed and have a rest on two white, modern-style leather armchairs. There is a lift to go upstairs.
At the back on the first floor (there is only reception on the ground floor) there is a library area...

Old Macdonald had a 5-star Hotel - eee ai eee ai oh
Advantages: It's spectacular and surprisingly quiet and the best location in the city
Disadvantages: Parking, high prices.
...As a student at Oxford University in the late 1980s, the Randolph seemed like the physical embodiment of the class divide that afflicted poor kids like me who came from state schools from the much wealthier students who took the affluence and grandeur of the city's finest hotel entirely in their stride. I'd never been in such a grand hotel and the closest thing to a grand building in my home city was the local branch of Lloyds Bank.
My flat mates' parents would arrive each term and take us out to the Randolph for rather staid Sunday lunches in the spectacular high ceilinged dining room where we'd sit and watch the world cycle by through the tall windows. By contrast my parents would visit bringing a bag full of fish and chips or a Chinese take-away. I can't really say that we enjoyed the Randolph that much more than a take...

Britain's Most Glamorous 5-Star Hotel!
Advantages: Super high-gloss telly drama, great cast, funny
Disadvantages: Nothing at all!
...In amongst the rubbish we have on our television screens these days, there comes every so often a gem, a shining light that tells us that this country is still able to make fantastic TV programmes which are quality, which make you want to watch them. In 2006, Hotel Babylon became one of these shows. It's high-gloss format with an attractive cast made it must-see television, and it became a hit. Now the first and second series are out on DVD so I'm working my way through them once more!
Hotel Babylon is actually based on a book by Imogen Edward-Jones and another anonymous author which was released in 2004. The BBC picked up the rights to turn it into a television show, and so 'Hotel Babylon' was born. Hotel Babylon shows us the lives and workings of a 5 star hotel in London, and its staff that work there. It's managed by Rebecca...

Great 5 star hotel
Advantages: Great service and cheap for a 5 star hotel
Disadvantages: May need to book a room in advance
...There are two sites to the Renaissance Hotel. There is the Renaissance Wing Deluxe and the New World Wing Superior. There is not much difference, Renaissance Wing Deluxe is a little more luxury, which each room will cost more. I stay at the New World Wing Superior. I paid RM 185 (approx £26) excluding service charge and 5% gov tax. Rates will changes depending on the month of the year (See below).
The hotel is based close to the city centre, were it is 10 minute walking distance to the Twin Tower and 20 minute walk to the a shopping area. There are taxis and buses if you don't feel like walking. But I recommend using the Monorail, which is close by.
The view is great, I was on the 17th floor and I had a brilliant view of the Twin Towers. I would think if you were at the Renaissance Wing Deluxe site, you would get the view of the KL...

He's from Barcelona
Advantages: Everything you want on a city break
Disadvantages: Too many things to do
...counterparts. To give you an example (you may need a map for this) we took one taxi ride from the Sagrada Familia to Park Guell which cost E5.50 and then from Park Guell to Port Vell which cost E8.50, another bonus is that tipping is not expected, rounding up to the nearest Euro apparently being acceptable.
Having said all that, Barcelona is for the most part very flat with broad, easily navigated streets that making walking the best option most of the time.
Places to stay~
There is no shortage of accommodation in Barcelona to match all budgets although in busy times (ie most of the year) you?ll find many hotels running at full occupancy. At the cheapest end I saw several hostels in the Gothic quarter offering backpacker accommodation for about E30 a night. From there you?ve got the standard budget hotels running through the quality chains up...
