CAMBRIDGE AUDIO P500 Power Amp.
Review of Cambridge Audio P500 by
HonestBagger
Advantages: Clarity Of Sound *** Deep SoundStage *** Value For Money.
Disadvantages: The P500 Can Not Be Bridged If Bi-Amping.
..., because Pre-Amps don't make that much difference...do they?
The sound improved 110% (ZZ TOP got down an dirty) real quick, the sound was amazing for what i had paid....So i thought, why not purchase another P500 not forgetting these sonic wonders were selling for under the £100 mark (new).
Once I Bi-Amped the system...(ONE AMP FEEDING THE WOOFERS AND ONE AMP FEEDING THE TWEETERS) it become apparent I had found what I had been looking for since I became interested in real Hi-Fi..I personally think the sound can not be beat without spending a significant amount more money..and anyway who would want to when the soundstage is now that deep you can follow peoples movements on stage in live recordings...or have Muddy Waters appear in your lounge.
The Cambridge Audio P500 produces 85 watts per channel into 6 ohms 65 watts into 8 ohms.
The P500...

Eltax millenium 500
Review of Eltax 500 Millennium by
thegeth
Advantages: very loud, cheap way to get good loud sound.
Disadvantages: police knocking on the door!! and falling out with neighbours
...I haved owned a set of these speakers for roughly 4 years and is always a joy to have them turned up on high volume, they seem to be able to handle any type of music without any distortion, from the bass of rap and techno, to the more elegant tones of classical.
was so excited to get home and open the boxes and set them up to the hi-fi system, very easy to set up the normal positive and negative connections you get with most hi-fi speakers. Each speaker of mine has a power output of 500 watts which is plenty enough for home use and almost three times the output of my amplifier.
Sat there with my brother turned up the volume, made sure i played a track with a variety of bass and high pitch tones was amazed by the sound quality of the high pitch tones as on normal hi-fi speakers they distort fairly quickly but these sounded perfect...

STRLV500 - What a bargain!!
Review of Sony STRLV500 RDS REC 430MM by
Matttheboy
Advantages: Slimline high power output
Disadvantages: N/A
...I managed to get hold of one of these from empiredirect for £72.99 + £7 delivery. I spent so much money before hand trying to get a decent surround sound system from ebay and after many failed attempts to find true surround sound happinness I finally found it with this little beauty.
The design is very good, slimline, silver, not too many flashing lights etc. The remote has all the options you could possibly want and works fine from the other end of my pretty long lounge.
With 75watts per channel it's more than adequate for me, I have some 50watt front speakers originally from my hifi unit, and some 20 watt rear speakers and centre speaker. Not sure on spec of sub but if anything it's too powerful so I have it real low to avoid agrivating the neighbours!
DTS, pro logic 2, built in tuner, linked via digital coax to my DVD player...

Renegade REN550S Amplifier
Review of Renegade REN 500 by
Cellexe
Advantages: Cheap, Looks, Features
Disadvantages: No Major Ones!
...(usual speaker power handling) or you can manipulate it into 2ohms. As the unit is 2 ohm stable (ie it wont fry the MOSFET) this is quite useful. Safety is provided by a 15amp fuse. Power signal is indicated by a green LED whilst any faults are indicated by a red LED next to it (i haven't experienced the red LED yet!).
On to sound quality then. I am running two of these amps at the moment. Luckily enough one for each type of sound (ie one for bass frequencies and one for mid-high frequencies). Bass first then, Excellent. The unit will happily power anything upto 500 watts when bridged, but is happily running my two 300 watt ten inch subs, one per channel. the sound is really more about the speakers than the amp but i can't find any faults with its capability to provide detail and punch. The same is true with the component set im running too...

Cambridge Audio C/P500 Pre/Power Amp
Review of Cambridge Audio P500 by
Rorty-Corty
Advantages: Audiophile quality design and build
Disadvantages: takes up more shelves on your hi-fi rack and needs more cables. Big Deal!!!
...I have owned two of these P500 power amps along with accompanying C500 control/pre-amp for approx 10 years now. They are receiving signal from a 24 bit NAD C540 CD player (see my other review) and feeding a pair of Mission 734i floor standing speakers. I bought this system after initial going to audition a NAD amplifier of the time that had received rave reviews. I was recomended to try the C/P500 combination to compare and although the NAD was fairly close on the lower frequencies the higher frequencies were much clearer and natural and so I ended up buying two power amps to bi-amp the speakers (the P500 does give two sets of connections to facilitate bi-wiring, it's just that at this price I couldn't resist). I listen to a varied range of music from older stuff such as the Beatles and the Clash, more modern stuff such as Jamiruqai...

Movies on the move! PVR-500
Review of Yamada PVD500 by
noyzboyz
Advantages: Compact, lightweight, good picture, external playback, PAL & NTSC
Disadvantages: Disk can stick when player gets hot
...This review is about the Yamada PVR-500 not the PVD-500 as this category suggests. I don't know what the difference is since they look exactly the same and appear to have the same features but just so you know,.... I own the PVR-500.
Readers of my other reviews may be aware that I spend a lot of time away from home, mainly with work. Currently I’m in US waters (dodging hurricanes) and the DVD player on the ship only plays Region 1 (US) DVD’s. Obviously this is a problem for me, since I like to watch DVD’s from the good old UK too. The solution was obvious,.. a portable multi-region DVD player! But which one? There seemed to be a lot of high priced alternatives when I was researching this product and all I really wanted was a cheap, small player. Something that I wouldn’t be too upset about losing or getting trashed. I came across...

Panasonic RP-HC 500 noise reducing headphones
Review of Panasonic RP-HC 500 by
ilaskey
Advantages: shuts out background noise, allows lowr volume, decent sound, removable cord
Disadvantages: slightly chunky, lack of lower bass
...Anyone who has to travel to any extent whether it's by train, plane or bus will know how noisy the background can get and how high you have to have the volume to allow you to make out what you're listening to, especially with spoken word material like podcasts. Over time, these volume levels are both bad for your ears as well as being anti-social to other passengers.
There are plenty of headphones that claim to be noise-reducing or noise-cancelling but in practice, most are just designed to fill your ear canals more snugly. Some do have an element of proper noise cancelling via electronics but for some time now the benchmark has been the excellent Bose range although with prices of £250 or more, these are out of most people's price range.
I was thus very happy to find a pair of Panasonic's RP-HC500's to try out. These are still...
