***Kinky home video's......with wind!!!***
Review of Sony Handycam CCD TRV218E by
elephants69food_0
Advantages: quality, ease of use
Disadvantages: weight size
...monitor display.
It was the first camcorder I had ever owned or in fact used and I was rather excited at having a new toy to play with. I rushed home and unpacked it from the excessive amount of packaging used. There were quite a few little "bits" that came with the main body of the camcorder.
Battery
Remote control
Charger with A/C Adapter
Neck strap
The specifications of this model which are printed on the side of the box are as follows:
Focal length: 2.5mm-50mm
Optical zoom: 20X
Digital zoom: 560X
Sound: Mono
Display:2.5" TFT colour
Warranty: 1 year
Manuel focus
Night shot (built in night light)
Well with that all written down I can not honestly say how good a 560x digital zoom is on paper but I can tell you my experience with this camera overall.
On having to set the camcorder up to start taking video clips with...

patrickg1987
Advantages: long battery life, great pic + sound, quality

Disadvantages: Heavy - not digital - battery degrades

THE USER EXPERIENCE
OK, having got over the weight issue and absorbed the derisive glances from the guy next to you with what looks like a zippo lighter recording the days events, just how does this work.
Well, being a Sony it has a name that carries a certain Kudos in the camera market and I feel it lives up to this name. The camera comes with a pelthors of fade in and out effects that are easily accessed by cycling through the button conveniently located for your filming hand. The on screen display highlights which particular effect is selected and pressing the play or stop button will now bring about the desired effect.
Back home the remote control handset that comes with the camera allows the camera to be connected to the TV and video and you...

Three CCD but not the best for me!
Review of JVC GR X5 by
EdwardChaput
Advantages: Good controls, good quality
Disadvantages: Low battery life, Sucks at night, pricey
...and clearer than competitors. The only down side is that the thumb pad is a tad on the small side.
You can record onto mini DV and memory card, perform extreme close ups and have a very poor night vision along with classic features like: classic film, strobe, sepia, black and white, fades and wipes and 300x digital zoom.
With regard to sound, this camera's most significant feature is its external mic jack, through which you can record good sound in the field or dub it in later. An external mic-level meter display is available, though there is no provision to control the levels in-camera.
The GR-X5 offers a good basic assortment of still-camera features, including two quality modes, five resolution options (peaking at an interpolated 2,560x1,920), and three ISO settings. It also has several flash and burst-shooting modes as well as red...

Heavy Home Videos
Review of Sony Handycam CCD-TRV238 Hi8 by
newby2
Advantages: worked well, long lasting
Disadvantages: big and heavy
...could buiy and to be honest I think it was the cheapest one that was in store on the day. It did come with extended guarantee and a little bit of money off and a few blank tapes were also thrown in for good measure.
I am not much of a technical minded person but for all those who are here are the specifications of this particular model:
Focal length: 2.5mm-50mm –
Optical zoom: 20X –
Digital zoom: 560X –
Sound: Mono -
Display:2.5" TFT colour -
Warranty: 1 year -
Manuel focus -
Night shot (built in night light) –
The box I unpacked it from came with a few different parts and they included:
Battery
Remote control
Charger with A/C Adapter
Neck strap
And of course the camcorder itself.
The camera to use was very straight forward and although it did come with a rather extensive but easy to understand manual I...
