More 70s Show fun

Advantages: Complete season, engaging, witty, funny
Disadvantages: Too much emphasis on story

...As my other reviews of That 70s Show DVD box sets may have shown, if you have read them before, I am an avid fan of this sitcom, set in that grand decade of peace and free loving: the '70s. And season 5? Definitely one of the best. The Premise That 70s Show revolves mostly around a group of six friends living in the fictional town of Point Place, which is situated in Wisconsin (which is real, incidentally). This season takes place between 1978 and 1979, nearing the end of the decade. That '70s Feeling

Advantages: Well scripted and acted, funny, Laura Prepon
Disadvantages: Someone is bound to "Jump the Shark"...

The difference is that the show is really a parody, poking fun at that tendency we have to look at the “good ole days” through rose tinted glasses, and the relative innocence of the TV shows of that period. Those old shows never seemed to reflect or even hint at the turmoil and change that was happening in the late 60s and on into the 70s when they were made – Vietnam and Watergate, the Oil Crisis, fighting for equal rights – big world issues were being studiously avoided. Come to think of it they never hinted at the big issues of the period the show was set. Anthonys 70s disco workout

Advantages: you can have fun with it.
Disadvantages: could have picked better songs

After reading all the views on how appauling it was i nearly didnt buy it, However i like to find out for myself as i noticed many views were not broken down or in detail. I also noticed many people seemed to be slamming it for being unprofessional so at 1.99 i wasnt worried if i lost my money. I am glad i did this. The dvd is broken into sections. When i first put the dvd on the first section i must say is lame. The music i would not class as 70s and i wanted to know where were the words! I watched closey and yes anthony does not give you much direction,however the moves arent that hard if you are flexiable and arent ashamed of jumping around. When we get onto the second section-- yeahhh the music is on. Not that high in the background but on and if you take this dvd light hearted- i bet you could have...

A 60s hippy chick

Advantages: Was it all so good
Disadvantages: wish I was back there now

...Well the 60s is a time that I would have loved to be in and experience, well ok I was born in 66 and cannot remember that much and my hubby was born in 60 and remembers a bit of it. So here is my top 10 things that remind me of the 60s. 1) My aunty Celia who was a true hippy, she lived out in the middle of nowhere and bought her own farm and grew her own products. I remember when we would go and visit her we would mock at her lifestyle even though I was in my late teens. The funny hippy chick look and those skirts and her long brown hair. She had a few small animals and was so dependant on her land making a living from it at the same time. Review of 10 Things that remind me of the 60's

The nikon d70s is unbeatable!

Advantages: easy to use - quality of product -speed - just cracking! better than canon or nikon 50
Disadvantages: Price but then SLR digital cameras are all dear! No memory card included

...I purchased my camera just before the summer in anticipation of a trip to Venice - a photographer's paradise. Having compared the available digital SLRs it was so apparent to me that the NIKON D70S was by far superior in many respects. The size of the camera means that you can hold it without fear of it dropping or slipping out of your hand - I found other cameras too small. The feel exudes quality - there are no flimsy bits, the lens supplied (nikon) is a top quality lens - not a budget version found on the cheaper d50 or on the canon 350d. The speed of functions is stunning compared to my previous digital camera (pseudo SLR Olympus) - formatting of memeory card is done in a flash, readyness of integral flash is very fast and write speed to memory card is also very quick, even with a slow er version of the compact flash card. My 70's memories.

Advantages: I was born in the 60's though lived my childhood in the 70's!
Disadvantages: makes me feel soooo old!!!!

Dead 60s Riot Radio

Advantages: Excellent music, Innovative music

...The Dead 60s are a band heavily influenced by the early Ska movement and have all the energy of Ska heroes The Clash and The Skatalites. They are a four piece band from Liverpool and their first album, the thirteen track Riot Radio was released in September 2005 after spending the previous year touring with the likes of Kasabian. Strangley enough I first saw and heard of the band when they performed on Top Of The Pops in 2005. Their first single was "You're not the law" which managed to reach the top 20 chart in early 2005 Many of their songs also have dub versions which are all excellent and can be found on b-sides (if there is such a thing these days). They are signed to Deltasonic records - the same label as The Zutons and The Coral. After many major tours around the world last year lets hope that they come home...

Review of Dead 60s, The - Dead 60s (The)

Nikon D70s

Advantages: Solid, professional class images; fast
Disadvantages: Not overly simple to use; small LCD screen; auto settings can disappoint

...No questioning the Nikon quality..it's robust and solid like it's reputation but not the best buy in it's class for the amateur. I should state at this stage that I'm no professional although I do use the camera to back up my magazine articles so I hope you'll find my views useful. The D70s is fast and produces great images but you need a good understanding of light and exposure to get the best out of it. To this end I would recommend weaning yourself off the automatic functions as soon as possible. I use the camera with a DX AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm for general use and back it up with a 55-200mm for more precise work. One downside of the first lens is that you do get some vignetting at the widest angle - especially with a filter. The camera uses a D lens mount so will take a wide range of other manufacturer lenses. The camera offers...

They were a fractious lot behind the scenes, but throughout the personnel changes, the creative talents of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (and reluctant front man after the departure of initial lead vocalist Carl Wayne) Roy Wood ensured that as a singles band they were, and remained, a force to be reckoned with. This compilation contains all the singles from 1967 to 1970 (yes, the title got it slightly wrong), and the B-sides were never throwaways. The band had initially wanted the eerie mock-psychedelic "Disturbance" to be their first A-side, though the record company opted instead for "Night Of Fear" (a song which got by with a little help from Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" in the guitar riff department...

Oh No another 70s cover album.....or is it ?

Advantages: Consistently good choice of songs-with a fresh approach

...I'll admit it-I'm a fan of the very talented Donny Osmond but I was NOT happy to hear that Donny was recording a 70s cover version album. I loved his last album "What I meant to saY" Which was predominently new music co-written with the likes of Eliot Kennedy (Spice Girls), Gary Barlow and Paul Peterson (formerly associated with Prince). I wanted the next album to be yet more good original stuff-Donny's sung other people's music most of his life ! However I heard some cuts from the album pre-release on www.donny.com and liked what I heard so I bought it. As did a lot of other people as it went gold within a week of release.
