Advantages: Excellent quality pictures, Useful wide angle range. Good build quality.
Disadvantages: No lens hood, Not compatible with all EOS cameras

...I bought this lens with a specific purpose in mind - photographing model aircraft in flight. I had previously used a Canon 80-200 mm which I found a bit too limiting at the long end of the range - an excellent lens, but not quite right for the job.
