...times. So overall it performs well. Seagate are a trusted manufacturer and have been around for a while. As far as I'm aware they have never made a bad device line, but then my HDD's of preference are normally Western digital. The device uses an 8mb cache, this isn't a special as it used to be since many other 2.5"HDDs now use this amount but its still a plus point for the device. It runs a 7200RPM, this is about the same as many normal 3.5" HDDs but is quite fast for a laptop variant. As I said before it is important to look at your need for this type of device, there are many other devices available that do the same job but for a far lower price. ...to be surprisingly fast. Access time was very quick, 12ms per second seek time, so within the hour i had backed up and transferred my files!. I have had no trouble streaming games and movies from my hard disk, with access to files within the disk is as instant as a normal hard disk drive. It can be stored on it's side, or standing up right. They can also be stacked, if 750gb isn't enough for you! There is a circular light around the on/off button to indicate that the device is on, and also that disk access is being made. During powerdown of your computer, the hard disk will automatically turn off, so there is no need to turn it off yourself. The unique Capacity Gauge LED is extremely useful as it tells me how much space is left without me having to check o my pc. They can be easily knocked over, so if you're untidy like me, then clean up your work... Read review

...I've used a similar model for a long time and I have mixed opinions about 7200.10 hard drives. The good things of Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Seagate hdd are the most stables drives in the market, I've used my drive for quite a time and never experienced a single problem. Large capacity, 320 GB is more than enough (300 Gb real) Good speed, especially at writing data, but also at reading excepting multiple file copy. Speed is about 75-80 Mb at large files The access time is about 13-14ms (about the same as other hdd) Temperature IS OK. Very stable and reliable The not so good things: Multitasking read performance. While on single thread the performance is high, 75 Mb, while increasing the threads, many aplications used the speed drops at about 5-10 Mb A little noisy especially when many aplications are used Conclusion... ...to transfer data between pc's without using a network, or for backup storage on many pc's. Also with external hard drives from seagate you only get a 1yr warranty, instead of 5yrs for internal drives like this one. The formatted usable size is 298gb, not 320gb, it is very quiet I do not notice it at all. It is lightning fast thanks to its 16mb cache which helps make windows and programs load up quicker. The downside with the low price I paid was that as it was OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hard drive, this means that it is for computer manufactures and the hard drive is the only item incuded, so there is no instruction manual, or the sata cable to connect your hard drive to the motherboard. I had to buy the cable seperatly, but this was only a couple of quid. However nnon OEM drives come with the cable included. Although... Read review
