...I have been buying this brand for ages, and was always a big fan. They are more expensive than some other brands, like memorex, but I thought they were worth the extra. They were reliable, burned well (no coasters as people say) and you could always tell by looking at them that they were good. This is the first time I've bought this particular type - with two recording layers they are supposed to offer you almost double the capacity on a single side, so you can get almost 4 hours of DVD -enough for even the most enthusiastic home movie maker! Well that's true, and the one's I got to work, worked fine, but lots didn't work. One you could see when I took it out of the box it was all bubbled on the surface, so I didn't even try to burn that one. And of the pack of 10 I bought, 3 so far have not worked out of 7 I've used, not...

...Memorex have a long history of media production for computers, so it is little surprise to see them releasing writable DVDs in the rapidly-expanding home burning market. Although not one of the brands I would have picked initially by choice, I have bought several more boxes of these disks and have found them to be consistently good. When I received a DVD writer for my birthday last year, my wife thoughtfully supplied a spindle of ten Benq DVDs. After successfully creating three coasters (disks that did not burn correctly), it became apparent that my DVD writer was not going to recognise these disks. stable DVD-/+R!!!

Advantages: Very good brand

...This DVD-/+R is absolutely amazing, it has never let me down! First, the This type of DVD is said to be Data/Video and it does what the description say. When i first burnt my home video on to this DVD-/+R and played it on my DVD player, i thought it wasn't going to recognize it, however it played it correctly without jumping tracks or anything!. I tried burning with my other DVD-/+R but all of them didn't recognized my home video, sadly! Personally, i would go for DVD+R for burning home videos. Burning it using data as a storage also delivers a high quality. There were no errors and each time, it recognized the disc because some 'crappy' DVD-/+R doesn't even load it on the computer, HOwever, TDK is top-notch. The burning speed for DVD is 1-4x so it's not that slow. To burn the whole Data of 4.7gb would take about 30 minutes...

An Exciting Review on Blank DVD-R`s

Advantages: Store a lot of data
Disadvantages: You need a DVD-R Drive to write to them

My first use of one of the DVD-R`s was to back up all of my important data, As I store all of the digital photos I take on my computer the size of the data I wanted to back up was a rather hefty 2.5 GB. I inserted one of the blank DVD-R`s into the drive and select the files I wish to be copied using Roxio EasyCD Creator 6; the blank DVD-R is detected automatically by the software which informs me that there is 4482.25 MB of blank space on the disk. The BulkPaq DVD-R`s are capable of being copied to at up to four speed, so this was the speed I selected to burn my disk at. With all of the relevant buttons clicked I press the ?Burn Now? button and wait, the process takes about ten minutes and passes...

Princo DVD-R - Blank DVD's on a budget.

Disadvantages: There is a slim possibility of some of the discs being faulty

...The Princo DVD- R is a straightforward blank storage media for use in DVD writers. The discs have a 4.7GB capacity and can be written to at speeds up to 16 X. But do not forget they can only be written to once - they are not rewritable. The label side of the disc is plain, with very little written on it, leaving ample space for you to put information. The discs are supplied in basic packaging, and if you want a case for an individual disc you will have to buy the cases seperately. In my opinion these discs are very cheap, and accordingly their quality comes into question. However out of about 100 discs that I have bought only 2 have been faulty. In my view they are an excellent choice for those of you that use a lot of blank DVD's....

...This 'write once' pack of DVD +R is great value. At the moment Tesco are retailing these at £14.97 which works out to be about 30p each The pack comes in as a spindle pack with no covers. They are write once only at max speed of x8 and have a storage capacity of 4.7GB each. The +R format can be used in the following DVD machines: Technika Bush Alba Daewoo Goodmans Matsui Philips The following machines are also compatible with +R as well as -R Sony LG Liteon Sharp The hardware that only caters for -R and therefore cannot use the +R format are: Hitachi JVC Panasonic Pioneer Samsung Toshiba The spindle pack the DVDs come in is very flimsy cheap plastic so once opened the original casing is not very good to store the blank DVDs. Quality branded DVD-R's from TDK

...I paid about £20 from Adsa for the pack of 100 TDK DVD-R's (4.7Gb, 16 x speed), which I consider to be great value for a reliable, reputable make such as TDK. I have used about half of the discs so far, mainly for films but also for backing up data, photos etc, from the PC. I have not encountered a single faulty disc, as of yet. They seem very reliable, and have a write speed of upto 16 x, although I have not been able to test this as my DVD writer only writes at a maximum 4 x. My only grumble with the discs is the colour. They are printed a metallic blue colour, with a pattern and the TDK logo on. While this is very nice to look at, it isn't very good for writing on with a black marker. Space (to write on the disc, not capacity) is limited because of this....

...Most people familiar with computers know that Verbatim are pretty much it when it comes to manufacture and distribution. I use their discs in particular for backing up and moving around my music collection, which is fairly big. I usually use the standard 4.7Gb discs for this and will probably continue to be so for reasons you will find out. At first glance the 8.6Gb DL (meaning Dual Layer) discs have one big advantage: You guessed it, the size. So here's the main considerations and issues to think about before buying them. Price The best price on Amazon.co.uk at the time of writing is £7.99 for a pack of 10 on a spindle. Considering you can get 50 regular 4.7Gb DVDs for a similar price it seems a little pointless to invest in them at the moment. ...DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP!!! My advice would be if you have or been given one for Xmas - take it the hell back and get a refund or exchange it for a NON Samsung DVD recorder. Samsung should be prosecuted for selling what is obviously a faulty machine! Plenty of reviews online ALL saying the same thing - it will NOT accept DVD-RW. So, not fit for purpose. Samsung will probably blame the consumer, as always. Well, FOUR brands of HIGH QUALITY BRAND NAMES, cleaning the lensas suggested on some sites DOES NOT WORK! Seriously, you will regret the day you bought one of these pieces of crap!
