Sony Vaio FX802.

Advantages: Looks good, feels good, works good.
Disadvantages: none so far.

...I have always wanted a laptop, and have always liked Sony products. Looking around at the various packages available, I came across the Sony Vaio FX802 AMD1500+ 256/30Gb reduced in my local Comet store at £889.99. It being reduced as it is no longer in production, so I checked up and found out it only came out in October 2002 so it is only six months since its launch date. This model is virtually the same as the replacement model FX902 except this model has a larger hard drive? An excellent machine for business but since the graphics is only 8mb not that usefull for playing the most up to date games, but over all I feel the machine to be well built, quite slim, not the lightest machine but not overly heavey and of cause that excellent overall Sony quality feel to both the keyboard and screen, and at £889.99 a bargain for a brand name...

...The MotoLivn D802 is a DECT cordless phone pack from Motorolla. It comes with two handsets [there is a D801 which has one handset]. Cordless phones have a transmitter [or basestation] that plugs into phone socket and allows the handsets to make the calls. The handsets have rechargeable batteries and need to be plugged into a charging station to be powered. One difference between this and other cordless phones I've used is that here the basestation itself is not a charging station. This allows you to position the handsets separately to the basestation, which may be an advantage depending on the layout of the phone sockets in your home [or work, I suppose]. Now, this is a case that costs £45 pounds and doesn’t even come with a power supply unit – it’s just a bunch of metal. ...bad. If like me though you want 100% and its for business then adding a second repeater 302 is also easy. I have never done this before but found it not to difficult. There is a load of information on the net and Netgear website to help out. The two units work well together providing great coverage around the office. This is probably aided by the units twin aerial design to give maximum coverage. If like me you need to have a secure network, you shouldn't have any trouble here. (WEP) data encryption comes as standard for the 302 in a variety of forms. You can also configure the 302 to run on the different network types, 802.11b,g and double g, although I have not yet figured out how to get 108MB.
