...Welcome to the fourth installment of my computer component reviews! My motherboard is the 865PE Neo2 - P. I'm assuming that this is the same, it certainly looks the same. MSI is a highly respected motherboard manufactorer and have incorporated the intel 865PE chipset into this fantastic motherboard. Thanks to Rabid's suggestion, I went to the MSI section of overclockers. There I found the one he suggested, below it was this baby. For just £10 more I could have dual DDR RAM, as well as a few other minor enhancements. This board has all the standard features, like AGP 8x, ATA 133 support and 5 PCI ports. It's also got 4 ram slots (with dual DDR ram support and supporting up to 500Mhz RAM on overclock speeds). It supports all pentium 4 chips including the new Extreme and Prescott processors. ...The ABIT AI7 was introduced earlier this year as one of a raft of motherboards designed to cope with the newer socket 478 processors. ABit have a good reputation for innovation and since I was in the market for a new motherboard I was keen to check this one out for myself. It had a number of features I needed and it was on sale at an attractive price. So let's have a look at the more important specifications. ...This is the intel D865PERL motherboard, I purchased one for £125 from ebuyer.co.uk. Packaging The moterboard comes in a box designed with intel colours (blue and orange) with a picture of the board on the front. On the back of the box is another picture of the board but this one is labelled with all of its features. The board came in an anti-static bag which was sitting on a thin layer of foam inside the box. Also included in the box is a metal faceplate which is quite strong compared to a lot of others, 2 IDE cables, 1 Floppy drive cable and a SATA150 cable. Features Five PCI slots - Even though i have used up all of these slots i think this is a sufficient ammount for most users. ...Asus P4S800 Asus have always done a pretty good job at making motherboards. Since my second computer I’ve gone for nothing but Asus when it came to choosing internal components for my home made machines. Looking for a new motherboard I came across this one – a motherboard based on one of the latest Intel chipsets 865PE. This version of the motherboard is the basic stripped down one, with other more expensive versions of the card available, such as the Wireless and Deluxe editions. I honesty don’t see much point in paying more money for wireless that I don’t use and more ports and things since this has more than enough even for someone as demanding as myself.
