Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera

Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for

.... The D90, whilst looking, from the front at least, identical now boasts a picture definition of 12.3 mega pixels, twice that of the D70. However, it?s in what else it can now do that it outstrips the D70 by a mile. For one thing, it has the capability to shoot movies (yes, movies) in 720 line hi-def which can then be fed via an HDMI port direct to an HD-ready TV. Unlike the first wave of DSLRs, you can now preview the shot you?re about to take on the LCD screen at the back rather than use it to play back existing shots only. This has long been the ?Holy Grail? of SLR makers since SLRs still retain a physical shutter that keeps the ?film? or rather the electronic sensor in the dark till ready to fire so this is no mean feat. However, it?s not unique to Nikon ? I think Olympus, Canon and maybe others have been doing this for a while now...

Review of Nikon D90

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

... How I made my choice I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel...

Review of Nikon D90

Canon Ixus 90 IS - great camera, but only good images!

Advantages: Lightweight, easy to use, good shortcut buttons
Disadvantages: Buttons occasionally difficult to use, odd white balance underwater

...I've had a couple of months using this camera, and have been fairly impressed, though have also found a couple of small niggles. My previous camera was the Canon Ixus 75 - I was lucky enough to win this one which is why I've upgraded. As such, I wil make some of this review a comparison of the two cameras. The Ixus 90 IS is a 10 MP camera, with image stabilisation as implied by the name. In size and weight it's fairly similar to previous models. The rear of the camera, as with the 75, is taken up largely by the 3 inch LCD screen, leaving no space for an optical viewfinder. This is personal preference; I think a lot of people don't care about optical viewfinders nowadays, and I mainly use the camera underwater, so it's not an issue. Nokia E90 Communicator

...Having recently reviewed the Nokia N810 internet tablet and discovered it is little more than an executive toy, I approached the E90 without any expectations. I'm glad to say that so far I have not found any unusual missing features. Yes unlike the N810 this device actually has a phone. And that's not all, there are even some productivity applications in the form of a simple word processor and spreadsheet. From the outside the phone appears to be rather large by modern standards, with a standard keypad and a function panel above it. There's a power switch at the top right. There are two buttons on the right side of the device, one activates the instant sound recorder function (and I suspect voice dialling as well), while the other is used to take pictures when in camera mode. Strangely this button doesn't automatically activate...

Review of Nokia E90 Communicator

Brilliant camera for the money well worth it very versatile

Advantages: large resolution, great photos, easy to use, great battery life, great fun!
Disadvantages: obviously its not a £2000 plus camera

...to p.c. in one battery life. thats normally around the 1300 photo mark on the lowest compression setting (highest resolution) so if you are torn between these 3 cameras the D90 is yet to let me down even in the varied and tough conditions I throw it into....

...Inspiration Having seen this beast of an oven in a local shop I was hooked and had to ahve it for my new kitchen. I was intrigued to find it cheaper than the £1500 for the version I wanted. Getting the Deal A bit of searching on the net and I managed to get the same oven (black with gold trim), with an extractor and five year warranty on both for less than I could have got just the oven in MF*. Paid for by C/C the company phoned back to confirm everything was ok and gave us a cust ref number and tel number for the Rangemaster Company who were going to make the oven for me from scratch (which if you didn't know is part of the Aga group - can't get much better!). Canon DCC-90 soft case... A FRAUD!

Advantages: Nice looking, lightweight, has belt loop too

... Canon DCC-90 Soft Case - my review Canon DCC-90 is the official soft case for the Canon camera models S2, S3 and S5. There isn't really too much to say about this soft case but I'll do my best. I own a Canon digital camera S5 IS and since the size of this camera is quite weird (not as big as Reflex cameras but neither small enough to fit in common camera cases) I found very hard to find a proper case for it. What stopped me from buying the original case by Canon was it's price. As a matter of fact the cost is £14.55 at the lowest (on amazon.co.uk) while generally can be purchased around £17-25 everywhere else. Also I could hardly find any picture of it online and they are impossible to find in shops so I didn't really fancied spending such an amount of money for something I couldn't even see properly.
